I originally booked this place because the photos made the environment look great, but as soon as I stepped into the guesthouse's courtyard, my first impression was that the photos were quite misleading. The courtyard wasn't as large as it appeared, and the view was quite poor. A large tree directly in front of the entrance and a visible plastic shed obstructed what little view there was. The room itself had some ethnic characteristics, but for some reason, the guesthouse only provided two pillows, making it impossible for two guests to sleep comfortably. The most unpleasant part was the service from the female front desk staff; frankly, there was no service at all. She was dismissive and unresponsive. The two male staff members, however, were very helpful. Overall, it's not good value for money, and I wouldn't recommend it. You can find much better options at the same or even lower price.

The hotel is perfectly situated right at the entrance of Wengji Village, with convenient roadside parking available. The room wasn't particularly spacious, but that's quite typical for village accommodation. While there might be more upscale guesthouses, staying at Shishi made us feel genuinely immersed in the local culture. The hotel breakfast, which included rice noodles, fruit, coarse grains, and eggs, was delicious. Their dinner (available for an extra charge) was also quite good. I highly recommend staying in Wengji; the sunsets here are stunning, and it's just a 20-minute drive to Dazhai for beautiful sunrise views. My only minor complaint was discovering ants under the pillow. I hope the guesthouse can improve its pest control measures.

Hands down the most satisfying B&B of our entire trip! The guesthouse boasts its own charming courtyard, perfect for relaxing, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a cup of tea. In the evenings, after cooking, the friendly young chef would join guests around a bonfire, chatting and brewing tea. Gazing up at the starlit sky, we felt incredibly peaceful and content. The beds were also incredibly comfortable and cozy. Here, both our body and mind felt genuinely cared for.

The biggest plus is its location directly within the Wengji Ancient Village scenic area, and for a guesthouse, the rooms are quite decent, even above average. The main downside, however, is the poor sound insulation. The proprietor is highly dedicated, honest, and offers incredibly warm and thoughtful service. That said, the work ethic and professional skills of the other staff members still need further enhancement.

For my trip to Jingmai Mountain this time, I chose to stay in Wengji. I booked Shishi Guesthouse because of its reputation for delicious food, and the overall experience truly exceeded expectations! The guesthouse has a fantastic location with its own courtyard. From the window, you can enjoy stunning views of lush greenery and beautiful sunsets. It has ten rooms in total; the twin rooms are mostly on the first floor (some even come with loungers!), while the double rooms are located on the second floor. The rooms are simply decorated yet cozy and welcoming, which is quite good for a mountain accommodation. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The guesthouse owner and staff were incredibly warm, hospitable, and genuine. During the Chinese New Year, they even organized singing performances and outdoor grilling sessions around a fire pit. Most importantly, the food here is delicious! At meal times, the dining area gets packed with outside guests coming specifically to eat. If you're staying at the guesthouse, remember to book your meals in advance. Jingmai Mountain, I'm already looking forward to my next trip!

Even though we arrived late at night, the staff patiently waited for us to check in. For a guesthouse in Jingmai Mountain, it's quite decent, and most importantly, it offers great value for money. It's conveniently located very close to the Wengji Viewpoint; the ancient trees and Buddhist temples are just a short walk up from the entrance. In the early morning, we were treated to a beautiful sunrise and a spectacular sea of clouds. Breakfast was a set menu of rice noodles, fruit, and local pastries – it was satisfying and delicious. There's also a coffee corner with lovely views. We heard their stir-fried dishes are excellent, but unfortunately, due to our schedule, we didn't get a chance to try them, which was a real pity!

While the ground floor room was a little on the small side, its comfortable and quiet private courtyard was a huge plus, perfect for enjoying tea as the sun set. In the evening, we roasted oranges over a bonfire – a truly delightful night. The Hani owner doubles as the chef, and the food was delicious. I especially loved the warm hospitality of this guesthouse.

Upon arrival, my first impression of the guesthouse was quite positive; it features a very cozy little garden. The meals were delicious, just as reviews online suggested. The in-room facilities were also quite good, especially considering the mountainous conditions. The service could use some improvement. As a solo traveler, I found mountain transportation really inconvenient, and it would have been greatly appreciated if they had offered some sightseeing tips beforehand. However, the evening activity of brewing tea around a stove and roasting oranges was a delightful experience. My only major complaint is about the soundproofing. The guests in the adjacent room were constantly chatting from around 9:30 PM until 12:30 AM without a break, making it impossible for me to get any sleep. There were also sudden, loud knocks on a door (I'm unsure why), which was quite startling. Since the building's structure can't be changed, I suggest the guesthouse reminds guests upon check-in to observe quiet hours after 10 PM. Finally, the entire Wengji area is currently undergoing extensive construction, which unfortunately results in a lot of dust.

The courtyard was really comfortable and charming, the sunsets were stunning, and there's even a coffee bar – it's a very photogenic spot. In the evenings, a walk up to the viewpoint of Wengji Ancient Village offered a breathtaking view of the starry sky. In the mornings, we'd head out from the courtyard to catch the sunrise. Around 8 AM, we'd walk downhill to find an even more beautiful sea of clouds, though, unexpectedly, it was even more spectacular at 10:30 AM. If you're not an early riser for the sunrise, you can definitely sleep in until 10 AM and still enjoy the sea of clouds. We were truly satisfied with our stay. The only awkward aspect of the room was the lack of a proper bathroom door. It would have been much better if a door had been installed between the toilet and the sink area.

Shishi B&B came highly recommended online. While there's no dedicated on-site parking, you can park outside, and a staff member will come to pick you up. Alternatively, you can inform the gate attendant to drive in, drop off your luggage, and then find parking elsewhere. Interestingly, when we returned at night, the gate was open, allowing us to drive straight in and park. Being a mountain property, it was quite good – clean and tidy. As it's nestled in the mountains, don't be surprised to find a few small insects on the first floor. Breakfast includes freshly prepared rice noodles and a variety of grains.
