Nauntons Guest House & Wedding Venue ★★★★

📍 N11 Newcastle Road, Ladysmith

"An excellent overnight stop or even a short stay. Nothing to difficult for owners. We were booked to stay on a Saturday night in July. We realized enroute that we would arrive around 10am and decided to phone and find out if we could postpone our booking till 23 Aug. Absolutely no prob, it was done. Then we left Kruger 3 days early so phoned them again to find out if we could change booking to 21 Aug. No problem. Thanks to them there are not many Guest Homes that would be so accommodating. Well done. Food also delicious. Ample safe parking even if you towing a caravan."

📍 14 St Augustine Ave, Ladysmith

"We booked in for 2 nights on the 23rd and 24th of September. Our host Magda was warm and welcoming even at a 23h00 check in. She was so obliging and walked down to the guest room with milk, tea, sugar and coffee in hand to check us in. The room, kitchenette and bathroom was exceptionally clean. We were never asked for payment at any stage of our stay. I would highly recommend Memra Regards Charlton "

"We went for a Christmas Lunch the food was so tasteless, the only thing I enjoyed was the starters. Whooo the buttered chicken was terrible. The only thing that was better on their main meal was the pork and lamb the rest was horibble. I just wasted my money what Ana awful. Christmas I had😔"

Esiweni Luxury Safari Lodge

Esiweni Luxury Safari Lodge ★★★

📍 Memorial Gate, Nambiti Private Game Reserve, Ladysmith

"Esiweni is an extremely special place! Sophie and the whole team are just amazing. Robert, our game ranger, took the time to ensure we saw all of the animals we wanted to around the reserve and we even managed a very special cheetah sighting. Babs, the chef, is also an absolute legend and we are convinced she is super human as she makes everything from scratch and it’s all absolutely delicious. Lucky, the lodge manager, is also wonderful and very knowledgeable about the reserve. They all went out of their way to make sure we had a super special holiday and we did. Not sure how we’ll ever top it."

"The guesthouse is nice and close to the industrial area with quick access to the N11. The farm environment is nice and relaxing after work and the hosts are friendly and helpful. The room is clean and nice to stay in. the added breakfast was very "lekker" and would recommend eating in. "

Nambiti Plains ★★★★★
"After many years of travel around the world I can honestly say that this is the best experience we have ever had. I can't imagine that anywhere would compare - a little piece of heaven on earth. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, the staff incredibly welcoming (and seem to know your likes and dislikes within minutes) and the food to die for. Our guide for the 6 days we were there was Cait, the most delightful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable young lady we could have hoped for - she happily stayed out later than usual in a thunderstorm to ensure we got a good look at the male lion who we met along the way; spent time explaining plants, insects, birds, calls and tracks as well as the big 5. As soon as we mentioned the frogs we'd heard she managed to find 2 for us to see! We are so glad she chose us to be her guests that week! She is an amazing asset to the lodge - as are all the staff. Game drives are early (wake up call 5am) and again at 4.30pm, we didn't miss any and would recommend doing all if possible - sunrises are beautiful and the mid drive refreshments always delightful. Binoculars and a good camera would be ideal (we had neither!) but great memories are made either way. The chefs on site are phenomenal, food is amazing and they all take time to get a feel for what you like - even changing dishes to suit preferences. All staff at the lodge made you feel incredibly well looked after and cared for during the entire stay - if fact I don't think anything could be improved. This is the only place I have ever visited where I have been made to cry twice - once when the staff surprised us with a birthday cake and a beautifully decorated bedroom and personalised meal in our room (the trip was to celebrate 2 big birthdays) and secondly when it was time to leave. I really can not think of enough complimentary words to describe our stay and only hope we'll be back there again soon."

Esiweni Luxury Safari Lodge ★★★
"Esiweni Lodge truly exceeded our expectations for our honeymoon! From the moment we got there, we were greeted by the entire staff with a warm welcome. Not only was the lodge absolutely stunning, quiet, and peaceful, but the level of service from the staff we experienced was like nothing we've ever had before. They were extremely attentive to us, and anything we asked for, the answer was yes. There was a bottle of champagne and snacks waiting for us when we arrived. Alex, the manager during our stay was always there when we needed something and was super quick to assist us. Our stay wouldn't have been the same without him! The room was also cleaned and tidied up about 4x a day, and the staff set us up a bubble bath every night after our second game ride! The game rides started at 6am, with coffee and cookies given to us before we left. We came during a cold front, and the truck included ponchos and heated water bottles, which really kept us warm. Robert, our ranger was incredible from day 1. He went out of his way to make sure we saw every animal we wanted to, and got as close to them as possible. On our first game ride, we had a lion and lioness walk right by the car! Lastly, THE FOOD! Esiweni has their own chef, and he is absolutely incredible. Every single meal was tailored towards us - we told him to make some of his favorites, since we're not picky eaters, and it seemed like every meal got better and better every day, with the portion sizes being huge. He also came out to check on us after every meal. During each meal, the wait staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, warm, and welcoming. The food came out so quickly, they pulled out a chair for us every time we sat down, and everything was just perfect. On our last night, they set up a surprise traditional African BBQ where we sat around the fire and enjoyed the delicious food and drinks. Esiweni truly made our honeymoon an unforgettable experience. We would highly recommend them to anyone traveling to South Africa for a Safari experience. The level of quality and service was unmatched. We just got back a week ago, and we already miss the entire staff. We hope to be back one day soon!"
