Great experience - cozy rooms, good spa treatments, and interesting wine list. Breakfast could be improved.

Wij stayed here near the end of our road trip through Southern Africa. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, when you enter you are greeted by the beautiful baobab tree. Staff are friendly, but in arrival there was quite a bit of confusion about the times of the pre booked activities. But eventually that was all sorted out. The location is stunning on the banks of the Chobe river and very close to the National park for safaris. The wifi is good and works through the whole resort. Room is beautiful with a big bed, great bath and shower in the bathroom and great views over the river. The boat trip that the hotel offers is also beautiful and well worth it. When you are here you truly get a taste of Africa. The food in the restaurant is very good too. We had the breakfast and dinner buffets. Compared to other hotels this one is quite a bit more expensive. But that doesn’t surprise me because of the quality of the hotel. I can definitely recommend staying here!
Response from Property: Dear ZooGirl101, Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful setting, comfortable room, and overall experience at Cresta Mowana. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and services, and we also take note of the initial confusion regarding the activity timings. Your feedback helps us improve. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Cresta Mowana Safari Resort & Spa soon! Kind regards, Marang Nthebolan Guest Relations Manager

Location location location! This resort is close to town and Chobe National Park. The views from our room/patio directly on the river with spectacular sunsets, they were simply amazing and the staff were so helpful and pleasant. The guides for the river cruise and safari were the absolute best. We were only there for 3 days but could have stayed much longer. I highly recommend this resort. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious.

It was a great lodge. I particularly liked that fact that the meals were buffet style. The rooms were excellent with wonderful views out over the river. We were lucky to spot a Bushbuck and a water monitor. The rooms were kept clean and tidy.
Response from Property: Dear C8176tMsusanp Thank you for taking time to write such a wonderful review about our hotel. Your warm comments about your stay have been taken to heart and we hope to see you again soon. Regards

If you’re looking for a quality African safari experience this is NOT the place. You are totally treated like a number here…with so many people it’s impossible to be treated like an individual. There is zero personal service. No initial explanation in the resort/facilities/where to dine/how to book activities. Our room wasn’t available when we arrived, nor was it available 1hr later at 2.30pm. As we were expected to join a river cruise at 2.45, we left our bags with them & did our cruise. Came back at 6pm and along with many others, hit reception for our key. No key…it’s a card and many of the entire establishment room door automation locks have failed. One hotel staff member is escorting people to their rooms using one master key! Finally fixed 24hrs later. The room is spacious, good bed & pillows. Bathroom tiling is gross…very old & stained grout. Cleaning standard is average …big clump of hair in the shower drain 🤮 Now…the river cruise… Soft drink, wine, beer, water & snacks provided. No tea & coffee. Snacks were average….dried out mimosas’ & some sort of sausage bites. I was happy to see some salad available but there was no cutlery so you’d have to eat it with your fingers! Boat skipper pointed out the various animals & birds we came across just by name. There was no information on anything, just their name. If you can manage it try Kambuka River Sands Resort in Sth Africa…6 star compared to this.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Staff were generally friendly. We were on a DB&B basis. The food was not good! Mass produced to serve the group tours, not a hotel (when we were there) for couples. It’s some of the worse food we’ve had for a very long time. If you’re looking for a big hotel with ok rooms and amazing views over the river then it’s for you.
Response from Property: Dear CWB60 Thank you for taking time to write a review about your experience in our hotel. All areas of concern were noted and will be looked at. We greatly regret any inconveniences caused during your stay. We look forward to hosting you again. Regards

Had the buffet lunch here as part of a Chobe Safari tour with Exoticca Travel. The food was absolutely delicious. My only issue was the waiter, George. We were with another group, and when the drink bills came, no matter how may pula it came out to be, he told us each $10 US dollars. When we figured out the currency conversion, each of us owed only $5. We felt he was trying to fleece us.

Our tour stopped at the resort for lunch. It was a nice lunch. At the end when we paid for drinks the waiter brought a bill for 72 BEP. I asked if he took US dollars and he said yes it is $10. I gave him a $20 and as he was helping another couple at the table I did a quick calculation and found it to be only $5.22. I asked for the 20 back and said I would pay by card. He said too late, went through the cash he had in his hand and gave me a $10 back. Beware George he is dishonest!!!

I can't say anything bad about this place. The food was great, definitely try their crocodile tail I promise you won't regret it. Don't miss out

We ate at the restaurant. As vegans we enjoyed the lunch buffet so much that we came back a second time. The avocado salad was out of this world. There was a good variety of vegetables, other dishes and desserts. There were no specifically gluten free options that I could see, but there were potatoes and rice and there was plenty for a gf person to eat. (And the grounds were lovely & shady, with many bird species.)

We stayed for two nights as part of a Chobe / Vic Falls package. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the facilities. Staff were fantastic and the activities we'll managed. Only comment is that there is a great facility next to the pool which is used for lunch. Would have been most pleasant to have eaten dinner there as well.
Response from Property: Dear 544Traveller, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and found our staff to be fantastic. It is also great to know that the activities were well managed, contributing to a memorable experience. We appreciate your suggestion about using the poolside facility for dinner service. It is a valuable idea, and we will certainly review the possibility of offering this option to enhance our guests' dining experience. We hope to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay in the future. Warm regards, Marang Nthebolan Guest Relations Manager

We stayed here two nights, my only complaint was the fact that all meals were buffet style. The rooms were great, the service was excellent. I loved the squirrels outside my room and the warthogs wandering around the grounds. Chocolates for the turn down service were appreciated as well.

From arrival to departure, it was an unforgettable experience! Not only were the rooms, the food, the spa (!!) and the staff remarkable, but the environment, and all the activities at our disposal made it my best hotel experience yet! It is so evident how much thought and care has been put into this beautiful place. Cannot rate this highly enough!

This is mainly a restaurant / food review. We were taken to this hotel to have lunch as a part of our Chobe National Park Safari Tour which we took from Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe. Normally such lunches as a part of a tour group are average to average minus. But this one was a surprise. The food quality was good. The desserts were nice and it even had some tasty vanilla ice cream. Lunch menu had variety and the dishes were reasonably tasty. We were made to eat from a buffet in their main restaurant which faces the Chobe river. Nice view. Service was average. The hotel's grounds looked very nice with warthogs all over the place. The lobby was impressive and it opens up into a big courtyard with a large tree as its centerpiece. This was majestic.
