Hotel Royal Continental Reviews

We recently stayed at the Hotel Royal Continental in Naples from January 7 to January 9, 2025, and our overall experience was very positive. Location & Safety The hotel is located in one of the safest and most touristic areas of Naples, right on Via Partenope, facing the sea and Castel dell'Ovo. Naples, as a city, is still evolving into a true tourist destination. The city is making significant improvements to attract more visitors, and you can feel that transition happening. This particular area where the hotel is located feels very safe, thanks to continuous police presence. We saw officers patrolling on foot and by car at all hours of the day and night, which gave us peace of mind. The neighborhood is also filled with excellent restaurants offering a wide range of quality food at reasonable prices. Of course, not every place is great, but there are many good options within walking distance. Additionally, the historic center and most major tourist attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. You can take a leisurely stroll and reach the main sights in under an hour. Room & Comfort The seafront location of the hotel is outstanding. The view from our room was beautiful, and we loved opening the panoramic window to let in the fresh sea breeze in the morning and evening. It’s a wonderful way to start and end your day. The room itself was comfortable and well-maintained, with a level of luxury comparable to a 4-star European hotel. However, it's important to note that European hotel standards are different from those in the U.S.. By American standards, this hotel would be closer to a 3-star property. Despite this, the housekeeping staff did a great job cleaning the room daily and replacing towels. Service & Atmosphere The hotel staff is professional and polite, but interactions felt a bit robotic and mechanical. It seemed like they were following routines rather than making genuine connections with guests. That said, room cleanliness was good, and we appreciated the attention to detail in that regard. One thing that stood out is the hotel’s nostalgic 1950s vibe. The hotel seems proud of its mid-century charm, which they promote through signs and advertisements around the property. If you enjoy that type of retro atmosphere, you’ll appreciate this hotel. Breakfast Experience The breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The dining room overlooks the sea, which makes for a lovely breakfast setting. There are several breakfast stations with a wide variety of options, and the food quality was great. Waiters clean the tables and take care of guests throughout breakfast service, which adds a nice touch. We were very satisfied with the overall breakfast experience. Final Thoughts Overall, Hotel Royal Continental is a solid choice for staying in Naples. The location is its biggest strength, offering stunning views, proximity to restaurants, and easy access to the historic center. it provides a comfortable and memorable experience with beautiful sea views and a nostalgic atmosphere. Would we stay here again? Yes, for the views, location, and breakfast!

Dated hotel with old furnishings. Good location and view but not 4 stars standard

The Hotel has the best view of the bay. of Naples. The staff is very polite, kind and helpful, especially at the front office and in the restaurant. The balcony is nice though on the small size Great Breakfast, eggs, and savoury food on top of all the usual Italian sweet pastries. Good espresso too. To be very honest, i was a tad confused and disappointed about our room location as it was not on the main Royal part of the hotel as i believed but on the additional building which used to be the Continental, nevertheless we still enjoyed the stay there and our visit to Napoli.

The view is CRAZY here. The hotel itself is old classic type so as the facilities too. The amenities are pretty bad but the cleanness-wise was good. I can forgive everything since the view is fantastic.

The Superior Sea View King Room is of a decent size, the room is clean and tidy, the facilities are relatively old, the accommodation experience is average, the breakfast is also average, there are not many buffet choices, basic bread, eggs, ham, fruits and vegetables, etc., the quality is average, the service is okay, the only thing I can recommend is that the sea view is good and various attractions are within walking distance.

Booked a sea view room, which was great. The morning sun shines into the room every morning. The front is Ovo Castle, and the balcony has a great view. The hotel is quite standard, and the breakfast room has a double sea view. It is convenient to go to various attractions from here, and there are taxis outside; there are many choices for dining and coffee shops nearby. The service at the front desk is very friendly, especially Rossella, who is very nice, has excellent English, and helped me figure out the route to the ruins of Pompeii by public transportation and the round-trip train schedule. It's great! I highly recommend this hotel.

The location of the hotel is great, just opposite the Egg Castle on the seaside. You can see the volcano and the city night view from the balcony. It is very comfortable to walk and run on the beach early in the morning. It is not far from various attractions. The hotel has some history and the facilities and equipment are a little old. It is worth recommending!

It was good value for money, It was a shame that I couldn't use the pool ㅜㅜ

The view from the room was nice but the noise from the wall upstairs was too loud for two nights. I didn't even sleep well, which made me feel very inadequate.

The room was OK, in fact, most of it was satisfactory, but there was one thing I had to complain about, that is, someone knocked on my door twice inexplicably at 8:25 and 9:30 in the morning. When I opened the door, there was no one there, only the cleaners chatting outside. I don't know why they knocked on my door, and I couldn't communicate with them because I don't speak Italian. It really affected our rest.
