"I couldn't find the location the first time. After contacting the hotel staff, they came to pick me up. Later, they said that because the rural inn was under renovation, they automatically upgraded me to the room type of the old oil factory store. The aunties were very warm and friendly. The service was very good. I ordered a fish and vegetables for dinner. They were all fresh and delicious. The room was relatively simple and retained the previous characteristics. The lobby and restaurant of the entire inn were very stylish and designed. It was a very good experience."

"I'm so sorry for taking a month to review! It was a great accommodation experience, clean and sanitary, the bedding was very comfortable, and the small air cushion comb was very useful. I put it in my bag whenever I take it out. The boss upgraded my room for free, and I could see the mountains in the distance when I opened the window. The boss's family is in the tea business and has a tea plantation. You can go downstairs to drink tea anytime, mainly black tea and green tea. While drinking tea, I chatted with the boss about the local conditions. It was a very happy and humane living experience."

"Very nice homestay. Neat, clean, aesthetically pleasing and warm service. The temperature dropped when we arrived, so the boss turned on the indoor floor heating in advance, and the house was warm as soon as we entered. The room is not only clean and warm, but also has a Dyson hair dryer, horse oil toiletries, clean and dry bedding, and disposable bathtub covers. Every detail is very well thought out. A very spacious public space is reserved, with a different view at every step. It can be said that this place itself is an aesthetic space, where you can sit here drinking tea and daydreaming for an entire afternoon. It was raining and the temperature dropped, so the boss lit a charcoal stove. It was windy and rainy outside, but people sat around the stove drinking tea and chatting. "The room was newly renovated, very clean, the projector was also very useful, the floor heating was very warm, and it was very close to the Moon Pond. The only drawback was that the sound insulation was not very good. The double room was facing the street. The roads in the village were all slabs. At night, there would be battery cars passing by to pick up guests or transport things, and there were always noises. The windows were probably glass and wooden windows to maintain the quaintness of the village, and there was no sound insulation effect. During the day, pedestrians passing by and talking could be heard clearly."

"The most unforgettable hotel experience. The hotel is located at the foot of the smoky Bishan Village. The hotel is surrounded by romantic country gardens. The hotel has a nostalgic and romantic atmosphere. There are landscapes everywhere. Every landscape seems random but... It is a thoughtful arrangement. I like the courtyards at the four corners in the center of the hotel the most. Listening to the sound of rain, people will instantly calm down. I experienced the comfort of slow life... The breakfast and dinner were great. I highly recommend the local chicken soup. The original flavor is the most delicious chicken soup I have ever tasted. The service provided by the hotel staff made me feel like I was staying at a relative's home. It was very warm."

GGuest UserThe location is excellent, right in the heart of the scenic area. The hotel also provides station pick-up and drop-off, making for a seamless and very convenient experience. Although it was my first time booking a B&B, I was truly impressed. As mentioned in other reviews, the service was outstanding, and responses were prompt. All staff members were incredibly attentive and helpful. The restaurant food was also delicious; I particularly recommend the roasted local pork chop. My only minor suggestion would be for the breakfast to offer a bit more variety. They also provide a thoughtful and considerate laundry service. Our butler even gave us a tour of the B&B's other facilities and courtyard, which was a very pleasant surprise. Just one suggestion: it would be great if the children's policy could be more flexible or accommodating. While our specific issues were resolved smoothly, an initially unaccommodating policy might deter many potential guests.

GGuest UserHongcun Yushan mountain scenery house is convenienly located near the South Gate of Hongcun Scenic area. We booked courtyard B which is located outside and behind the main hotel complex with breakfast included. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable, and had a small courtyard, but unfortunately no garden chairs or table to sit outside. In hindsight we woud book another room in the main complex next time. It has a lovely open garden and plenty of outdoor seating. I contacted the hotel before our stay and managed by using a voice translator to connect with the staff on Wechat. A friendly staff member met us at the entrance to the scenic area and entry is free of charge when you stay at the hotel. The hotel staff don't speak any English, but they were very helpful and friendly and we got along fine using Wechat and other translators. I won't recommend eating dinner at the hotel as there are many local Chinese restaurants in the ancient village. The hotel offers a coffee shop in the lobby and has a number of options, like Americano, Latte etc. The coffee is very good, but I felt it was a bit pricey for the cup size. The hotel breakfast is Chinese with no Western options, and it is served in unique way in a tray. I enjoyed the breakfast, but my husband would have liked more western options. On our arrival the room was already pre-heated and the beds in the room were comfortable. It was snowing lightly when we arrived and there were umbrellas available in the room. They also provide vanity items. We visited just before the Chinese New Year tourist rush at the beginning of the holiday and this was a very good location and time to visit despite the cold weather. The ancient village was not too crowded and it was nice to walk around in the evenings and daytime with the hotel is situated conveniently right next to the South lake. Drone flying is allowed which can give drone flyers an aerial view of the village. Depending on your iterinary a one night stay is sufficient to visit Hongcun and the nearby Xidi ancient village then move on to another hotel at the foot or top of the mountain or Tunxi village. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend this hotel to travelers wanting a good hotel experience in Hongcun.

GGuest UserMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise.
The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days.
At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us.
Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

YYoukaishileshimaThis time I took my parents out and booked a two-bedroom room. The room has a small bedroom with a folding door, which is suitable for family travel. You can see the clouds on the mountain directly from the window, which is beautiful! My parents are super satisfied with the homestay. Environment: This trip to Huizhou chose to stay in Hongcun Scenic Area. The homestay is near the big tree at the entrance of the village. It is easy to find, convenient to enter and exit the scenic area, and it is also quieter. There is a small river next to the homestay, and the scenery is also good!
Facilities: Smart home appliances throughout the house, Xiao Ai controls the air conditioning, TV lighting and curtains, the bathroom quality is good, the shower water flow is also large, dry and wet separation, the hair dryer is a high-speed hair dryer, very easy to use! The mattress and quilt are also comfortable. There are dryers and even shoe dryers. It really reflects the care of the homestay in detail

Service: What is worth mentioning is the service. From the communication with the boss lady on WeChat before check-in to the experience during the stay, it was very good! The staff is warm and thoughtful, and responds quickly! In addition to the boss lady, I have the most contact with Xiao Wang, the housekeeper, in the past few days. The hotel is a small cosy and beautiful hotel with efficient and friendly staff. It was the perfect location for us when exploring Hongcun and nearby activities and attractions like Mukeng Bamboo Forest, Huangshan Mountains and Xidi Town. 10/10 recommend.

GGuest UserThe stay at Hongcun Zuoxian Art Hotel was remarkable. Received a call from the host (小李管家) while on the way to confirm my arrival time and needs. She even helped me arrange a driver to pick us up from the Huangshan North train station at a reasonable cost. Driver (李师傅) was friendly and gave us lots of tips while visiting Huangshan and we ended up using his services throughout the 3 days we were there.
When we arrived, 小李管家 was right at the hotel entrance waiting for my for us and checkin into our rooms was a breeze. Rooms were clean with all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay. Most impressive was the hotel layout and design which was very artsy and minimalist for a place like Hongcun. It was simply amazing! Me and my family especially loved the lobby and the coziness especially in front of the fireplace during winter.
Hotel Location was within walking distance (200m) to Hongcun Ancient village and around 40mins drive to Huangshan mountain and around 1.5hrs drive to the Huangshan North Station or Tunxi Ancient Street.
Will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and relatives if they are planning to visit Huangshan one day!!!

SShanna LeighTraveling with 2 of my friends on a fun girls trip! This was such an amazing location. We went from a sad and boring hotel in Beijing to this fantastic location and suddenly the whole trip was more fun and much more interesting. The host met us at the entrance to Hongcun and carried our luggage in the back of his little vehicle as we followed him around quaint buildings and through a narrow cobblestone walkway which was perfect for walking and pretty impressive to drive thru without scratching anything. After the beautiful walk we came through the most beautiful circle archway and into the cutest courtyard. We rented the room with a queen bed downstairs and 2 full beds up in the loft. The rooms were so cute we had to hide our luggage to do a full video tour to show our families before unpacking. The beds have mattress toppers which helped soften up the beds for us Americans. The host was very helpful and I would suggest getting WeChat to translate if you don’t speak Chinese. I don’t but it was easy to communicate. I would definitely stay at here again. Highly recommended!

DDeAlchemistThe owner sent someone to pick me from the west gate after i was missing the way to the hotel and tired dragging the luggage on uneven stone road. The owner has surprised me with an upgraded room with a little garden and projector. The owner and staffs are very friendly and helpful too.
The hotel is clean, modern and well design. It consists 2 buildings which are separated by the walkway. The location is perfect and short walking distance to west gate which is surrounded by restaurants and shops out of the hongcun scenic area. I had an enjoyable walk out of the scenic area after my early morning photography at 5am and before tourists have started flocking in.
A stay in hungcun is highly recommended if you are planning to have a peaceful photography session without any tourists at all. I will not wake up such early at 5am without the recommendations given by the owner. You will expect the calm and clearer water. Do take note that the locals may wash their clothes thus interrupting the calmness of the water.
I will definitely stay in this hotel again if going to hungcun again.

AAnonymous UserTo be honest, I don't like staying in B&Bs. Most B&Bs are not very grand. They are just for making quick money, but they don't provide any service. The employees are usually just friends or relatives, or they are from the same village, so there is no service to speak of. I would like to talk about my feelings about staying in this hotel. I won’t talk about the accommodation environment for now. Holiday economy housing is definitely expensive. We took a shower first after we moved in. Because the B&B didn’t provide laundry detergent or something like that, I used shower gel to wash my clothes. After washing, I found that there were not enough bathing supplies, so I contacted the B&B to send a set. They replied that the toiletries we were equipped with were more expensive, so they only gave us one set. They said that if we needed more, we could only get toiletries of another brand. I suddenly felt uncomfortable. The accommodation fee was more than 1,000 yuan a night, and I didn’t know how expensive this set of toiletries was? Four small bottles of Evian water were provided, and we didn't feel comfortable asking for more after we finished them. What I want to say is that your service concept and the fees you charge don't match, because I have stayed in countless hotels, and this is the first time I have encountered such a thing. Secondly, the breakfast is very simple. Among the four side dishes, only the pickled vegetables were bought and the only one that was freshly made was the fried tofu. Also, I heard a guest wanted to ask the management for some fruit, but you refused. As a guest, it took her courage to ask you for something. Is there something wrong with your management model and business model? I wanted it to be high-end, but the service was not up to par. I'm so embarrassed that I really want to get it off my chest.

YYanyuThis was our second stay at the resort. Our first visit was during the pandemic, when all activities were shut down, and we felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves. This time, the experience was much richer and even better.
If you're looking for a peaceful retreat from the strenuous climbs of Huangshan or the bustling crowds of Xidi and Hongcun, Banyan Tree is the perfect choice. Luchun Village is just about a 5-minute walk away, and a little further on foot, you'll reach Tachuan. Both are beautifully preserved, pristine villages.
Before our arrival, our butler, Felix, reached out to me, asking for our estimated arrival time the next day to ensure everything was perfectly pre-arranged. When I simply requested an extra comforter, he immediately offered to upgrade our room, provided it was available. What a pleasant surprise! We ended up staying in the largest room type at Banyan Tree, the Luchun Two-Bedroom Villa (room numbers starting with 2), which boasted over 200 square meters, plus an outdoor garden and a balcony. Our teenager absolutely loved having so much space to run up and down between floors. The room was so incredibly vast that the three of us sometimes had to call each other just to find one another!
Needless to say, as a five-star property, it had all the amenities you could possibly need, so I won't list them all. It featured three bathrooms, two bathtubs, three televisions, a three-door refrigerator, a microwave, and a washing machine. Both floors were impeccably clean; we were comfortable walking around barefoot. There wasn't a speck of dust or a single insect anywhere in the entire room – we were truly impressed.
The service, in particular, was truly exceptional. Felix, our butler mentioned earlier, was incredibly enthusiastic, offering us detailed introductions and thoughtful recommendations. During our three-day stay, our housekeeper, Jo Yao, was not only extremely polite but also showed great respect for our privacy. Whether she was cleaning, delivering a fruit platter, or performing turndown service, she always asked for permission before entering. Her conversations with us while working were also very genuine. There was also a friendly shuttle driver who drove us around the resort and recommended local delicacies; I regret not catching his name. All the staff members here are warm, genuine, and truly committed to providing excellent service. We are so grateful. Every single staff member greeted us with a smile and was always ready to assist with any request.
Breakfast was decent, though it could offer a wider selection. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with everything. The pet park had many cute animals, the swimming pool staff were very attentive, and the sunset ceremony had a wonderful sense of occasion.
We just returned today, and I wanted to write this review promptly to truly do justice to all the wonderful experiences Banyan Tree offered.
