Lijiang Inns

Took my mom out for a trip and saw Aling's live stream on Douyin. She came across as very practical, genuine, and unpretentious, so we decided to stay for a few days. Overall, it was a really good experience. As soon as you enter the courtyard, there's a water feature with koi fish, which gives a vibrant and lively feel. The two young men working there were incredibly attentive and patient in answering our questions, and their demeanor was very refined. We also had the good fortune to meet a compatible travel couple, Sister Liu and her husband, at Aling's place. It felt like such a serendipitous encounter for people from the north and south to meet here. In the evening, we gathered in Aling's courtyard to chat, drink tea, and share our travel experiences. It was truly delightful. Thank you, Aling, for bringing us all together!

This ended up being my favorite hotel in my entire 2.5 week trip. The hotel is nestled in the old town area of Lijiang, near many great restaurants and shops. From even before I arrived the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and take care of all my needs. They met me to help with my bags (very welcome as it had been a long travel day for me and the weather was rainy), offered a rest and large fruit plate upon arrival, and provided top-notch local fare for breakfast both days. Additionally they were always available via WeChat - offering restaurant recommendations, checking in before cleaning my room, or helping me arrange a taxi to the airport. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with a large bed and the softest sheets, perfect for a tired solo-traveler. I was able to get a good rest and take full advantage of my days in Lijiang!

Choosing the Du Bolin Inn for my Lijiang trip was an absolute steal! The entire courtyard is an authentic Naxi-style quadrangle with beautifully carved wooden eaves and a traditional spirit wall, exuding an elegant ancient charm that perfectly blends with Lijiang's local character. The courtyard is filled with various succulents; plump plants adorn the tile pots, stone steps, and verandas, creating a vibrant green oasis. With the sunlight streaming in, the ambiance is incredible, and every corner is a perfect photo op, effortlessly yielding stunning, atmospheric shots. The housekeeper was incredibly thoughtful and attentive, providing seamless assistance before and after check-in, helping with luggage, and enthusiastically recommending local delicacies and sightseeing routes. Any request was promptly addressed. The rooms were clean and dry, offering maximum comfort. The courtyard itself is serene and quiet, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, making it wonderfully relaxing to sit and enjoy tea. My overall experience was perfect. This will be my top choice when visiting Lijiang, and I'll definitely stay here again on future trips. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting the ancient town.

The staff was very nice and even picked us up from the street (the taxi cannot enter the old town, you have to walk for a bit, which is totally fine).The staff even helped us carry our luggage (see the picture). They then greeted us with a selection of local tea and were very friendly. They also advised us on how to prepare for the Yulong Xueshan day trip, when to leave, etc. The room is very cute and their terrace has an amazing view. I would definitely stay there again.

The most therapeutic night I spent in Lijiang was, without a doubt, at Jushe. The courtyard, enveloped by lush greenery, perfectly shielded us from the hustle and bustle of the old town streets. The moment I stepped in, my heart found instant calm. In the evening, the thoughtful housekeeper delivered warm and comforting sweet soup, its gentle sweetness easing the fatigue of the day's travels. The next morning, there was no rush to get up and hit the road; a short walk led me to the stunning sight of the 'Sun-Kissed Golden Mountains,' offering expansive views and captivating scenery. During my leisure time, I leisurely strolled to the old town, weaving through unique shops brimming with local charm, experiencing Lijiang's unique tranquility. For those driving, there's no need to worry at all, as a dedicated parking area makes it convenient and stress-free. The entire guesthouse is serene and peaceful, devoid of any noise or commotion. The soft and comfortable living environment gently smoothed away the accumulated weariness of the journey, allowing me to slow down and savor the relaxed pace that is uniquely Lijiang's.

I did a lot of research before my trip and finally chose one of the top 50 guesthouses in the country, and it turned out to be the right choice. The day before my trip, the butler arranged airport pickup service. The driver arrived on time, was friendly and polite, and the butler was there to greet us at the drop-off point. The bumpy stone road was indeed difficult to navigate, so luckily, a rickshaw took our luggage to the hotel. Stepping into the hotel, the garden landscape was delightful. The room was set up exactly as I requested—clean and with a broad view. The biggest difference between a guesthouse and a hotel is that a guesthouse truly considers guests' daily living habits. A dryer, dehumidifier, bathtub liners, facial cleanser, and laundry detergent were all provided. There were also disposable slippers and eco-friendly bath towels that you could take with you. The guesthouse thought of everything a guest might need. Whenever you feel like a drink, just head down to the lobby, and the butler will freshly grind and prepare a small coffee latte for you—fragrant, rich, and delightful. During leisure time, children can do crafts in the lobby. Everything was very satisfying.

What was a bit frustrating was the odor in the bathroom of the first-floor room. It wasn't strong, but it was quite noticeable, probably from sewage backing up in the summer. I hope the owner can improve that... The bed creaked constantly, making a lot of noise when I turned over. The special items I saw when booking, like fruit and flower cakes, didn't seem to be there, and I was too embarrassed to ask the owner... Anyway, the dog was really cute, and that was about it.

If you're visiting Lijiang's Shuhe Ancient Town, you absolutely cannot miss the amazing Guanxin Inn! The environment here is beautiful, with lush greenery in the courtyard and fresh air that instantly helps you relax. The bedding in the rooms is exceptionally comfortable – a good night's sleep here will leave you feeling completely refreshed! The service is incredibly thoughtful and attentive; no matter what you need, they'll help you out, making you feel as warm and welcome as if you were at home. Step outside the inn and you can immediately experience the ancient town's unique charm and leisurely pace of life, making it perfect for a relaxing vacation and capturing some great photos! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and immersive experience of Lijiang's culture!

The guesthouse has a fantastic location, just a 5-minute walk to the center of the old town. The owner was incredibly welcoming, offering to help with luggage and providing travel tips. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and stylishly decorated. Although it's on the street, it was very quiet at night; the attention to detail was excellent. My stay was perfect for a few days, and the value for money was fantastic. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Lijiang!

This was truly a unique experience! The price was great, the environment was lovely, and the service was incredibly thoughtful. The front desk lady meticulously explained how to see the 'sunrise over the golden mountains' and how to explore Lijiang. The best part? The guesthouse owner turned out to be from my hometown in Chongqing, and even our neighbor! What a small world, you couldn't make this up. We drank tea in the afternoon and had drinks together in the evening – they were so incredibly hospitable! 😍 Next time I'm in Lijiang, I'm definitely staying here again.
