One of the loveliest ryokans we've ever stayed at in Japan, wish we stayed for longer. Every part of the hotel is so beautiful and serves as a lovely photo backdrop.
There is a lounge with coffee/tea in the mornings and alcohol and snacks in the evening. There is also a playroom (suitable for infants to 6years old).
Service is top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Extremely easy to communicate with them as the staff can speak English well. They gave us a map and told us where we could go for food or to the ski resorts and gave a lot of local advice.
They provide all the amenities you need. They even have rain boots that you can borrow and wear in case your shoes are not waterproof. It snowed heavily while we were there and the staff are super attentive - they asked where we were headed to and suggested for comfort, that we wear the hotel's rain boots as they knew my partner's shoe wasn't waterproof/suitable to walk through the snow.
Rooms are very clean, big and comfortable (only that the futons are a little thin).
The onsens are rather small, but the outdoor onsen is so beautiful.
They provide a shuttle service to the train station (upon request) , although it is a relatively short walk - 5mins - and easy to walk if there is no snow. 7 eleven right next to the train station and New Days inside the train station.
We loved every single thing about this charming lovely hotel and we will definitely be back if we are in Echigo Yuzawa.

This boutique hotel is an absolute delight. With only five rooms in total, it offers an intimate, ryokan‑style experience where every guest receives thoughtful, attentive service. The staff embody the spirit of Japanese omotenashi—quiet, sincere, and always one step ahead of your needs.
Because the property hosts so few guests, the atmosphere is calm and unhurried. You never feel like just another booking; instead, it feels as though the entire team is dedicated to making your stay exceptional.
The dinner course is a highlight you simply cannot miss. It’s beautifully crafted, seasonal, and clearly prepared with great care. Just be sure to reserve at least two days in advance, as the kitchen prepares ingredients specifically for each guest.
To my surprise, the overall experience here surpasses even some well‑known Japanese luxury brands like Hoshinoya. It’s more personal, more serene, and ultimately more memorable.
A perfect stay for anyone seeking genuine hospitality and a peaceful retreat.

AirgeekedOne of the nearest accommodation to Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort and shuttle via a mini bus is available. Shuttle bus goes to Echigo Yuzawa station too. It is walking distance from Gala Yuzawa. Approach any staff at the Ski Resort with the telephone number of the hotel to request for it. Stayed there for a few night for snowboarding. Breakfast selection was fabulous with two local Japanese sake available! The room is big, clean and well furnished. It even come with a great view! Onsen street which is the street lined with restaurant is 10-15mins walk away. I recommend making reservation for dinner if you do not intend to go out for dinner. Great service is one of the key reason why I would return to stay!

The service was excellent. The shuttle bus picked us up and dropped us off at Yuzawa Station East Exit, and it only took 5 minutes to get to the hotel. The outdoor onsen (hot spring) was amazing, with continuous snow-capped mountains right outside. The hotel also offers a partnership with a ski rental shop and provides transportation to various ski resorts. Dinner was served in our room and cost 7,700 JPY per person.

The sauna has been closed due to COVID-19. A lame excuse indeed.
The bathroom clock, which was previously pointed out in a review, is still broken. If they offer day-use bathing with designated times, they should either repair it or put up a new clock.
The weather was cloudy when I checked in and then rained, but the next day was sunny. The view from my room was beautiful with beautiful autumn leaves.

Choosing KKR Yuzawa Yukiguni during my trip to Echigo Yuzawa was truly an excellent decision. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, up a slight hill, but it was quiet, and the room was pre-heated, making it warm and comfortable. What I particularly loved was the dinner kaiseki and breakfast; the ingredients were fresh, the presentation was substantial, and the taste was absolutely delicious. Also, the view from the large public bath felt like looking at a framed painting. If you're going to Echigo Yuzawa, I highly recommend it!

1. It is a hotel with a sense of age. When you enter the hotel, you have to change indoor slippers. Your shoes must be put in the shoe cabinet on the left. There is no key. The two service staff at the counter have an excellent attitude. The female staff have better English skills, but the age is quite old. They work hard!
2. There is a shuttle bus from Yuehou Yuze Station to the hotel. At the station's east exit No. 9, after arriving at the station, please go to the ski line diagonally opposite the exit. After entering, go forward to the left direction. There is a service counter, please send the hotel to you. message (There is the word Tangze Electric Hotel), tell the service staff to make an appointment for the shuttle bus (say Reserve shuttle bus), they will fill in the form for you, write a name and the number of people, and then they will help call the hotel to inform, and will tell you what time will arrive, Then wait at the station (there will be a map), and tell you what color the car is coming (the day is green); On the day of check-out, I will make an appointment with the hotel counter and say that I have to take a bus back to the station. The pick-up and drop-off timetable is placed at the counter for passengers to see. When I come back from the snow, I will tell you. The latest shift is 18:10. After that, I will ask the hotel to call a taxi for you. Or take a tram to the nearby Iwahara Ski Resort Front Station to Yuehou Yuze Station!
3. There will also be a shuttle bus from the hotel to the Iwhara ski resort (will sit in the middle of the ski resort). You can talk to the hotel counter the night before skiing. The earliest shift is 08:40, and the latest is 11:40. Come back from the ski resort from 13:00 every hour, and come back to the hotel at 17:00 at the latest. If you take a shuttle bus to Iwhara Ski Resort that day, the driver will ask you what time you want to take the car back in the afternoon. He will count the number of people. If the time is too late, there is a bus in the middle of the stomach to sit down to the mountain. The mountain will not be too far to the hotel!
4. The hotel can rent ski clothing and equipment. The price is cheaper than the ski resort, but it is still recommended to bring the clothes by yourself, because the garbage and snow tickets left by the previous guest were found in the rented clothing pocket on the same day. It is obvious that it should be hung up in time to wash, and the service style, The size selection is limited. It can be selected early. You can rent from head to toe (except for personal protective equipment). The clothing and helmet can be rented the night before. The skis and ski shoes can be rented on the same day (after 8 am, go to the ground floor, but still have to talk to the counter first); There is a discount for selling snow tickets for nearby snow fields at the other counter. People in need can buy them at the counter. It is a snow ticket exchange coupon. When you arrive at the snow field, you can change tickets with the ticket office!
5. The hotel has a dinner lunch box and breakfast buffet. They are all at their own expense. You can see the information in front of the counter. If you don't want to buy it, the hotel will go out and turn right for about 3 minutes. There is a super business Lawson. It is recommended to go to the hotel early to go to the super business to buy things. Because cooked food and rice ball sandwiches are easy to get light; there are two microwave ovens on the first floor of the hotel, a small compartment on the left side of the counter!
6. I lived in a Japanese-style room on the same day. It had a sense of atmosphere. There was a bathroom and a separate toilet. There was also a refrigerator, but no drinking water was provided. The bed had to be laid by yourself. The bedding was placed in the cabinet. There was a hotel instruction book on the table. How to shop!
7. There is a public bathhouse, a large pool (open until 2 am), there is an outdoor small pool to soak (only open until 11 pm), the bathhouse is on the right hand side of the same floor on the counter (with notices), and the bathhouse provides shower gel, shampoo and hair dryer. But towels or bath towels have to be brought from the room by yourself, and things are only placed in a basket, there is no locker, so don't bring valuables to the bathhouse!
8. The hotel floor is strange, the 2nd floor is the 1st floor of the lobby, so if the room number is 201, it is actually on the 1st floor, and the room number 301 is on the 2nd floor of the hotel, and so on!
9. When you check out, you can still store your luggage. Just talk to the counter. They will specify a lobby location for you. Remember to retrieve it that day!
10. Overall, this hotel is suitable for people who want to go to the Iwhara Ski Resort to live, because the ski resort is really close to here, but there are really no shops nearby to eat (but there is a supermarket nearby, and there is a gas station to refuel), the counter staff is very good, Hotel facilities are old, but do not affect the accommodation, there are elevators, there are wifi, there are vending machines on the first floor, there are shuttle buses, do not require the hotel to live more advanced and modern people, you can come to experience the atmosphere of the Japanese-style hotel, and the price will not be too high!

Staff service is very good, very professional.
Ski rentals are available at the hotel, which is cheaper than ski resorts and other ski resorts.
Ski tickets at the hotel are also available at discounts.
There is also a special car transfer, when you see everyone waiting for the bus in a long queue, your special car is already waiting for you at the door, when it snows, feel warm.
It is only a 5-minute walk to Yuehou Tangyu Station and 7-11.

The location was very good, and it was quiet on the opposite side of the bustling area, so the only sounds were the river and rain. It was nice. However, the room was not bad, but the walls were thin, so you could hear all the conversations of other guests. Unfortunately, I was with a group of noisy guests late at night and early in the morning, so I had a hard time falling asleep, and even when I did, I was woken up, which was a pain.
The room itself was small, but it was clean and enough for a night's sleep.
The bathroom was much smaller than it looked in the photos, and it felt cramped for two people. The towels at the foot of the bathroom were damp, so I wish they could be replaced or made of a material that drains water well.
It seems that they no longer offer breakfast service, but they had free water, coffee, and tea, which was very helpful.
Comfort depends on the guests you stay with, but overall it was a comfortable hotel.

The guesthouse's location is incredibly convenient. In the mornings, you can enjoy a stroll in the nearby Takizawa Park and see the dam and waterfall. The guesthouse staff are very friendly, and the Japanese breakfast is fresh and delicious, offering slight variations each day, which truly shows their dedication to providing a great experience. Guests can also access the hot springs 24/7 for their convenience.
