The Traveller's Rest ★★★
"We used the travellers inn as we wanted to see the grisdale tarn and we needed to a room to stay after the sight. They allowed us to store our luggage at the inn as our check in was at 3pm. The rooms were clean and it overlooked a farm area with lots of sheep. The room had an aesthetic look and there was tea satchets we could have as well. The staff were kind and wonderful. The rooms had the britain charm you see in old english movies. If you love sheeps, kind people, good food and 80's british aesthetics- then this place is just for you. We loved our stay here."
YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe ★★★★
"I stayed at YHA Grasmere for one night as a solo traveller while exploring the Lake District, and overall I had a good experience. One of the hostel's biggest strengths is its location. It's surrounded by beautiful countryside in a quiet setting, yet it's only a short walk from the centre of Grasmere. The village has several lovely cafés, independent shops and the famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. There's also a bus stop about 200 metres away, which is very convenient if you're travelling without a car. The hostel also has a camping area, making it a good option for different types of travellers. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and I found the information leaflets around the hostel especially helpful. They provide plenty of ideas for walks, attractions and activities in the surrounding area, which is useful if you're visiting for the first time. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm. The room was spacious and included a sink and mirror, which made getting ready much easier. There were lockers available for some luggage, although not enough for every guest. I added the breakfast buffet (around £12) and really enjoyed it. There was a good selection of hot and cold options, including a traditional English breakfast, croissants (plain and chocolate), muffins, yoghurt, granola, jams, juices, tea and coffee. It was a great way to start a day of hiking. The bathrooms were the only part of my stay that didn't quite meet the same standard as the rest of the hostel. The toilets were slow to flush, there was an unpleasant smell at times, and the shower cubicles didn't have shelves for soap or shampoo, so everything had to be placed on the floor, which wasn't always as clean as I would have liked. One important tip for future visitors is to download offline maps before arriving. Mobile signal becomes very limited just before the hostel and is unreliable throughout much of the surrounding area. Fortunately, the hostel provides free Wi-Fi in the communal areas, so it's easy to check the weather, plan hikes or download maps before setting off. Just bear in mind that Wi-Fi coverage in the bedrooms is likely to be limited. Overall, I would recommend YHA Grasmere to travellers looking for a peaceful base close to nature while still being within easy walking distance of one of the Lake District's most charming villages. The location and breakfast were definitely the highlights of my stay."
The Daffodil Hotel & Spa ★★★★
"The hotel is in a great location, very close to the lake. The lake view rooms have views of the lake, and the restaurant's window seats also have views of the lake. The overall feeling is good."
The Swan at Grasmere- the Inn Collection Group ★★★★
"This is a hotel very close to the lake area and belongs to a family hotel. Breakfast and dinner are very good, the amount is also very large, the price is relatively reasonable, and the surrounding scenery is not bad."
Rothay Garden by Harbour Hotels ★★★★
"The scenery is beautiful."
Heidi's Grasmere Lodge ★★★★
"Lovely little B&B. Rooms cosy and well-appointed, great shower. Centrally located but not noisy. Mattress was a bit soft for my liking but a minor point. Great breakfast, great pub next door for dinner. Would definitely stay again. Easy check-in."
Victorian House ★★★★
"Wonderful rooms and service. Included might be the best I have ever had. Great location as well, between windermere and Keswick."
Moss Grove Organic ★★★★★
"We stayed in room 11 and were really pleased with the room. It was spacious with a comfortable bed. The place was spotless throughout and had a laid back feel, which we liked. The bathroom was luxurious with a shower and a separate spa bath. Again spotless however the glass door to the bathroom wasn’t ideal, leaving us with no privacy. The location is stunning and central to the village and handy for the shops and cafes etc and we could come and go as we pleased. On arrival we were greeted by whom I can only assume is the manager, slightly eccentric but a nice man. Check in was a bit rushed but we were fine with that. The only negatives really was that it would have been nice to have an iron in the room. I did ask for one but it never arrived. I realise it’s not a hotel but not everyone who stays are hikers. The spiral stairs to the top floor, where we were are way too steep. We are in our 50s and we struggled. There were elderly people in rooms next to us so I don’t know how they managed. They could do with a lift if it were possible. Parking isn’t great. Breakfast was a bit awkward, we are both vegan and we went elsewhere the first morning but we were told that if we got to the kitchen at 9.40 the next morning , there would be vegan sausages waiting for us. We got there on time only to discover we had been forgotten about. The manager did his best but we had to wait and it was a bit uncomfortable and ended up with 2 sausages and some beans. No vegan butter etc. A bit of extra thought would go a long way. We were booked to stay for 2 nights and asked if we could stay a third but unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate us and we booked in to the Wordsworth Hotel next door. What a mistake that was, not a patch on the Moss Grove. We would have crawled back on our knees if they could have taken us back! Regardless of everything, it was a lovely place, with a relaxed and friendly vibe, clean, spacious and we would love to go there again one day."
Lake View Country House ★★★★
"Really lovely accommodation - pet-friendly but spotlessly clean. Well equipped room (ours had a kitchenette) and very well appointed bathroom. Location is great for walking and access into Grasmere whilst being really quiet - right on the edge of the village. Many thanks for a lovely couple of nights."
