"Our Recent Stay at the Four Points by Sheraton in Georgetown, Guyana We recently visited Georgetown, Guyana, on October 4, 2026, and stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton. Overall, our experience at the hotel was very good. The hotel is relatively new, and the accommodations are comfortable and comparable to those of hotels in the United States. Our room was clean, spacious, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The hotel lobby is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating for guests. Although the restaurant is somewhat smaller than one might expect, the quality of the food and the service were excellent. Most of the staff members were friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. One employee who particularly stood out was the restaurant manager, Elane. She shared with us that she is an Indigenous person, and I was especially impressed by her professionalism, humility, and genuine hospitality. Elane has a remarkable ability to make guests feel comfortable, valued, and welcome. Employees like her are a tremendous asset to any business, and her dedication reflects positively on the hotel. However, we did encounter an awkward situation involving a front desk employee. During our stay, we arranged for a friend in Guyana to visit us at the hotel. We had not seen this friend in 51 years, so the opportunity to reconnect was very special to us. We were surprised and disappointed when a front desk employee informed us that we could not have visitors at the hotel. We found this response unusual and brought the matter to the attention of the hotel manager. He acknowledged our concerns and explained that the employee would receive additional training, as the hotel had experienced several issues involving her interactions with guests. The situation was particularly concerning because my wife later called the front desk simply to obtain the hotel’s exact address, and the same employee again told her that visitors were not permitted. This interaction added to our confusion and detracted somewhat from an otherwise enjoyable stay. Despite this isolated negative experience, our overall impression of the Four Points by Sheraton was positive. The hotel’s comfortable accommodations, excellent restaurant service, and welcoming staff—particularly Elane—made our visit enjoyable. If our travels take us back to Guyana, the Four Points by Sheraton would definitely be our hotel of choice. We hope the hotel continues to build on its strengths while ensuring that all guests receive the same level of courtesy, professionalism, and hospitality that made our experience memorable."
