New Surya Hotel
"There’s no hot water, no hair dryer, no cattle to cook for hot water, not enough blanket for my child. Service is ok, the staff willing to cook hot water for us to shower. Price is reasonable . You get what you paid. The owner is good, already prepared my room in advance so when we arrive at midnight room was ready to use."

Grand Harvest Resort & Villas - Ijen
"We really liked our accommodation and initially we booked it to hike mount Ijen, however pick up would be around 01:00 so we decided to skip it. Breakfast was good, would recommend including it. Rooms were nice and spacious, bathroom was a bit dated, could use some work. Staff very friendly but because of a language barrier we assumed laundry was free, at least that's what some staff member told us after we asked. However it was as seen on the booking just 2 pieces a night (f.e. 2 shirts). At the bar the sold beers that were not on the menu. Beers on the menu were advertised with a price that included service charge and tax. The Beers they actually had and sold didn't have that included. All in all we really liked our stay but these were some experience that were a tad disappointing. In the end I still highly recommend to stay here to relax."
Hotel Santika Banyuwangi
"I was quite surprised during my stay at Hotel Santika Banyuwangi. We booked two rooms, 218 and 219. During our stay, housekeeping staff entered room 218 without us requesting any cleaning service. At the time, we had just gone down for breakfast, and all our personal belongings, including our phones, bags, wallets, laptops, and other valuables, were still in the room. After we inquired, we were told that this was according to their SOP because we had extended our stay. Frankly, that explanation only raised more concerns. Our understanding has always been that occupied rooms should not be entered without permission, except under specific circumstances and after prior notification or consent from the guest. In this case, we received no notification whatsoever. Our main concern isn't just about staff entering the room, but rather the security and privacy of guests. At that moment, all our valuables were still in the room. If anything had gone missing or any undesirable incident had occurred, it would have been very difficult for both the guests and the hotel. If this action is indeed part of the hotel's SOP, then we believe the SOP needs to be re-evaluated as it could potentially cause discomfort and reduce the sense of security for guests who are still legitimately occupying their rooms. Good service standards should always prioritize guests' privacy, security, and rights to the rooms they are using. We kindly request that this incident be seriously investigated and evaluated. We hope that management can provide clarification, review the existing SOP, and provide training to the relevant staff so that similar incidents do not happen to other guests in the future. Thank you for your attention and follow-up."

"Bathroom is a bit stinky in the mixed dorm, there's the smell of sulfur and urine mostly due to the fact that most travellers have gone to Ijen and brought back some sulfur. The bed is comfortable tho and the garden is pretty!!!"
