Quinta Da Penha de Franca ★★★★

📍 R. Imperatriz Dona Amelia 85, Sao Martinho, Funchal

"A pleasant hotel. It felt like a dacha. Clean, cozy, and the staff was very helpful. Close to the center and the port. We walked from the ship, but half the way was uphill."

Residencial Greco ★★★

📍 R. do Carmo 16, Funchal

"The location is excellent, convenient for day trips, and there are many restaurants nearby. The hotel breakfast is also good, with delicious fruit. The room has four beds, is very spacious, and has a balcony with a great view where you can enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunrise and sunset from the mountaintop – very pleasant. The front desk and kitchen staff are very friendly, and luggage storage is available."

"Wonderful hotel, close walk to Funchal Centre and old town. Superb on cleanliness and really comfortable beds. Great little extras like free bottled water, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the people at desk always greet you warmly on entering and are so helpful. This is really a great find, I would highly recommend!"

Duas Torres Hotel

Duas Torres Hotel ★★★★

📍 Estrada Monumental 239, Sao Martinho, Funchal

"Basic hotel which could improve a bit the cleaning. Had to wash the dishes when we came. Table tops were not wiped down. Checking the bed and sofa for bedbugs was the first thing we did. After first night we got some itchy marks. Dediced to check the headboard as well. Noticed something that reminded of a bedbug skin in corner of the headboard. Staff reacted quickly. According to the maintenance team, hotel manager and cleaner, there were no signs of bedbugs. Headcover was cleaned. We were offered to change the room. However, we decided to stay despite the risk because the room was big and with amazing view. If there were bedbugs, the damage would have happened probably after first night. Even thought we did not get any more marks, we bought freezing service back in our homeland for our luggages. "

The Editory Garden Carmo Funchal ★★★

📍 Trav.Rego 10, Funchal

"The hotel was in the heart of the city, great location and close to main attractions. Easy to get to from the airport using n9 bus for €6. The room was cleaned daily and towels were also changed daily. The staff were friendly and happy to help when needed. For a 3star hotel, this hotel has great value for money due to its location, and service. The breakfast was decent and the pool had a great view. The room had a balcony with a beautiful view."

Pestana CR7 Funchal, Lifestyle Hotels
8.8 (106 reviews)

Pestana CR7 Funchal, Lifestyle Hotels ★★★★

📍 Praça CR7, Av. Sá Carneiro, Sao Martinho, Funchal

"The hotel in Ronaldo's hometown, in order to check in before leaving Portugal, I bought a round-trip low-cost flight, which was not cheap. There was an airport bus when I landed, which was quite convenient. The hotel is barely four stars, with accurate self-positioning. If there is no sentimentality, it can even be considered average"

"This is our second time here, and it was great again. The reception is super friendly. The rooms are functionally furnished and clean. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. You feel like you're visiting good friends. The breakfast buffet is extensive, and if you run out of food, they always refill it immediately. This is our second time here for New Year's Eve, and from the hotel terrace we had a fantastic view of the fireworks at the harbor and in the mountains. We're happy to accept that the hotel is set back a bit from the hills. In the morning we walked down to the harbor and took the bus back up in the evening. The bus costs €1.95 per person and runs quite frequently. You can sit on the terrace or inside the hotel. Everything is just lovely here. The friendly staff alone is reason enough for us to come back next New Year."

Duas Torres Hotel ★★★★
"Madeira is a popular tourist destination, so accommodations are generally expensive. This hotel's advantage lies in its excellent location in Funchal's hotel district, opposite a large shopping mall with a large supermarket. The hotel has its own free parking, swimming pool, and tennis court. The room was only so-so, the facilities were rather old, but the sea view somewhat made up for it. Perhaps because it's a popular tourist destination, the smiles of the receptionists seemed a bit forced. Although the room had a kitchen, there were no condiments. However, one long-haired lady on the evening shift was very kind and patiently recommended restaurants, writing down the names of nearby eateries for me. The Madeira Islands are indeed a popular tourist destination, so accommodation is generally not cheap. This hotel has the advantage of a good location, situated in the hotel area of Funchal, with a large shopping mall right across the street, and there is also a large supermarket inside. The hotel has its own free parking lot, swimming pool, and tennis court. The rooms are just average, with relatively outdated facilities. The sea view does somewhat make up for the shortcomings. Perhaps because it is a popular tourist destination, the smiling faces of the receptionists always seemed a bit fake. The rooms have a kitchen but no spices. However, there was one long-haired lady working the night shift who was very nice. When recommending restaurants to me, she was very patient and wrote down the names of nearby restaurants for me one by one."

"Wonderful hotel in the heart of Funchal. Easy access to anywhere in the city. Some road construction near by that limits taxi pick up access, but hotel room is very comfortable, pool is lovely with great view and wonderfully helpful and friendly staff!"
