Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Winchester ★★

📍 150 Faraday Plz, Winchester, Frederick County

"I am incredibly disappointed with this stay. I paid nearly the exact same nightly rate here as I would for an upscale hotel like a Hilton in Washington, but received a bare-minimum budget experience instead. To start, the room has zero soundproofing. I barely got any sleep because you can clearly hear the heavy footsteps of other guests echoing through the room—whether it was coming from the hallway outside or the floor directly above, it was incredibly loud and disruptive. The lack of basic hospitality makes it even worse. The bathroom had absolutely no complimentary toiletries provided (not even a basic dental kit), and they completely refuse to offer any flexibility with a complimentary late checkout. While the room itself was relatively clean, the complete lack of guest comfort, peace and quiet, and standard amenities makes the high price tag completely unacceptable. You are paying top dollar for a zero-star experience. Save your money and book elsewhere."

Wayside Inn ★★★

📍 7783 Main St, Middletown

"The Wayside Inn is a hidden gem! Very unique aesthetic and such interesting history! It's been open since 1797! The staff were very friendly and professional; the room was clean; and it was overall very quiet. I did not get to try the restaurant, unfortunately, since it is only open Thursday through Sunday; however, there is a coffee shop next door that is a must try! It is located about 30 minutes from the northern entrance to Shenandoah National Park, which was convenient. Can't wait to go back and bring my friends and family with me!"

Holiday Inn Express WINCHESTER SOUTH STEPHENS CITY by IHG ★★★

📍 165 Town Run Ln, Stephens City, Frederick County

"Great overnight stop right off Interstate 81! The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff made check-in incredibly quick and easy. The complimentary hot breakfast had a good selection and was the perfect way to start the day. Perfect value for road trippers—will definitely stay again!"

SpringHill Suites Winchester

SpringHill Suites Winchester ★★★

📍 280 Market St, Winchester, Frederick County

"This has literally been the best experience I have had at a hotel in a very long time. The hotel room was by far the most cleanest I've been in. My 3 year old loved the indoor pool and the hours made it possible for her to take advantage during a busy schedule. Hotel staff were so friendly and very outgoing!"

Holiday Inn Express & Suites WINCHESTER by IHG ★★★

📍 142 Foxridge Ln, Frederick County

"The location is very good, just a few minutes drive from the historic district of Winchester. There is a gas station, restaurant (including KFC) in front of the hotel, which is very convenient. The hotel has a rich breakfast and fruits (apples, summer oranges) are available 24 hours in the lobby. The room is quiet and comfortable."

Tru by Hilton Winchester
9.2 (107 reviews)

Tru by Hilton Winchester ★★★

📍 118 Mercedes Ct, Winchester, Frederick County

"Room was spacious and decent enough. Good TV set. Breakfast was ok, nice automatic pancake machine. As it was heavy raining, a bit difficult to load/unload the car, no proper roof to do it. Pool was closed due to maintenance, which was a major letdown. Overall, hotel hits the marks but pool closure should have been announced better."

"Hotel is infested with roaches. You can plan to have roaches crawling all over the walls, floor, and headboard as you sleep. This is also a ******/ homeless shelter or hangout. The roaches aren’t afraid of humans or dogs at all. Hotel staff doesn’t answer the phone and the door was locked shortly after we checked in. We tried to get our money back and leave. We chose to just leave and sleep in the car at a rest area. Hotels in the area were booked solid otherwise we would have rented a room elsewhere."

"In pics and in person the modern fresh room style is appealing though the functionality is sub-par. An example: one night table was a solid piece, no drawer or shelf with the top diameter much smaller than my laptop. Typically, a phone (use as an alarm), a bottle of water and an iPad , e-reader or book/magazine would be on a nightstand. Whoops, no room for all that and the slick surface made me nervous to leave my iPad on it. The open closet is fine, especially for me as I don't hang or put clothes in a drawer, but the only space available that wasn't in the bathroom is directly below where one would hang their clothes and right above the fridge. This could make it a perfect spot for a soft sided cooler, but this relatively small space (didn't measure, maybe 14"x20" with Keurig-style coffee maker already on it) is where one might set snacks, extra sodas, the cereal one brings because they like to eat the same thing every day and need a spot to set their cereal bowl while grabbing milk out of fridge right below. Not sure about you, but I'm not terribly comfortable putting food & dishes in the bathroom. Unfortunately, that is where my coffee maker needed to go (if I'm remembering correctly) the outlets where not accessible so Mr. Nespresso did need to go in the bathroom. Bathroom shower had some mold around the caulk area, otherwise serviceable. Not a horrible room overall, but not as nice as other similarly priced nearby chains so I'll stick to those."
