The elderly, short receptionist at the front desk kept pushing memberships on me with a stern face, insisting that I couldn't stay without a Huazhu membership—it was bizarre. She seemed to think, "Don't waste my time if you're just trying to meet your quota." After giving me the room key, she specifically mentioned that breakfast wasn't included in the room unless I had a membership. I ignored her. The bed was clean, but the room had a strong body odor. When I asked the housekeeping staff, they said many rooms were like that and they didn't know why. We were exhausted, so we turned on the air conditioning, opened the windows for ventilation, sprayed perfume, washed up, and went to bed. When we ordered takeout, I looked up and saw the walls were covered in grease stains from the previous customer's meal, and the wallpaper was torn."
