Macdonald Inchyra Hotel and Spa ★★★★

"The staff are excellent, very friendly and ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms in the hotel need updating; I would not choose to stay at the hotel again due to the rooms being quite basic for a 4*, and no safe in the room either. The restaurant area is nice. The bar area could do with an open fire, which would be in keeping with the property and, due to the bar's location can be quite cool. I found the lockers difficult to use; there are no instructions when trying to use them, only in the reception area. I did ask someone to show me, but they were too busy apparently, so I asked another customer to help me. There was no concession for late checkout on New Year's Day; however, upon request, this was granted. You also have to book for breakfast; therefore, on New Year's Day, I had to get up for 9 am to go down to breakfast, which was not ideal. I had paid for the trip online when I booked; however, when I came to checkout, I was charged the full amount again and was informed that there was no log that I had already paid, but when we arrived and checked in, it was acknowledged that I had paid, it was a good job that I had the email displaying that I had paid. Upon further investigation by the hotel, it was noted that I had paid. I thought that I had read somewhere that there was an option for a set menu for NYE, but al a carte was still an option however this was not the case. The food was ok. The stay was made better due to the friendliness of the bar and restaurant staff, all credit to them."

"Location is good for the kelpies at Helix Park and also the Falkirk Wheel. Our room was a good size room and clean but the reception is very scruffy and requires upgrading. The restaurant, belonging to premiere Inn was a complete let down. The service was ridiculously slow and they only had one steward serving on a Friday night for both the bar and restaurant. And apparently one chef!! We waited nearly 2 hours to get our food! And it was another disaster our meals were sub standard too . We are so disappointed. And will not be back!!"

Premier Inn Falkirk North ★★★

"Exactly what you would expect from a Premier Inn. Easy to find, reasonablely clean and comfortable, with an attached restaurant. The breakfast was very good, and it was very convenient to be able to eat in the restaurant in the evening. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the car park needs work, not to mention someone to pick up the litter. The petrol station was handy as we had driven up from West Yorkshire and were at the beginning of a 12 night driving tour, so being able to quickly fill up the car before moving on was very helpful. I've taken a star off due to the state of the car park."

"We arrived for a 2 night stay. Reception staff polite and gave us our room keys and light keys for room 5. On entering the room it appeared clean and tidy. However later in the evening when attempting to close the curtains they were attached to the pole by tie wraps which fell off when drawn, holes in the curtains were also showing. The bath taps were rusty all around the base and had been like this for some time as a rust stain running down the bath. I did inform the receptionist on our departure that the room is in desperate need of refurbishment which she agreed would be looked into."

"We received the warmest of welcomes from Jemma, who was just fantastic throughout our stay, and she didn’t judge me when I asked for haggis on my halloumi burger. It was incredible by the way. The room was perfect, with a bed so comfortable that we made a note of the make so that we can buy some for our own home. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. The pub currently opens at 10am for breakfast due to license laws. If this is too late for you, there is a communal kitchen with continental breakfast free of charge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and will definitely return if we’re in the Falkirk area. All the staff here clearly love where they work. Please thank Lynne for the Largs ice cream shop recommendation."
