Room wasn’t available until 16:05 instead of 15:00 not nice to put something in bathroom bucket to find it’s not been emptied 🤢

I did not expect glitz and glam by any means, but what I found at the Britannia Edinburgh was abysmal, especially for the price. The staff upon arriving was cold, and bordering on inattentive, but not quite rude. A positive was they do have a luggage room that you can store luggage if you arrive earlier than check in, so you can then walk around the city and see the sights. Location is good. Was a short and easy 15 minute walk into Old Town. My main issue, and why I cannot in good faith ever recommend this place, is that it was absolutely filthy. The reception was dingy, but the room we were assigned (511) was disgusting. It appeared that housekeeping came in and made the bed and that was it. I cannot even say if they put fresh sheets on. I went to the toilet, washed my hands, and grabbed a crumbled towel on the windowsill that I had assumed was just used by my girlfriend. What I found was a hard dirty towel, that had biological fluids and who knows what other bodily fluids dried and crusted over in it. Just left from the last tenants. I went down to the desk because there is no phone in the room and no one was answering from my cell, so I hiked down to the desk to bring this to the receptionists attention. In his defense, he was very apologetic and gave me a full set of fresh towels and assured me someone would come to retrieve the disgusting dirty towel. Bare minimum in my opinion for this kind of issue but at least it will be out of my sight. Return to the room, and begin to investigate around more thoroughly. Proceed to find cut toenails all over the carpet, a dirty mug under the bed, bits of cut underwear/panties in the corner of the bathroom. At this point I cannot trust that the bedding is in fact clean, so I return to reception to point this all out. We’re moved to room 515, room is dingy but looks at least cleaned beforehand. Reluctantly stay the night and promptly leave the next day with one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had and the knowledge that I paid £150 for this travesty of a business.

For the price of what we paid I was in absolute shock! The whole place needs decorating the bathroom in our room was bad!!!

Somewhat charming place. Staff was somewhat friendly. Accommodations seemed like a youth hostel. Very overpriced for the hotel it is. Difficult to get to (down a steep hill). Not close to anything. Very expensive breakfast. I would not stay there again

not enough parking space available on site, and the staff at the front desk is rude, and not helpful at all. Would not go back. So think before you book.

Everything was good etc but £30 for two double vodka a thought was a bit expensive also the lemonade wasn’t rite no gas inn it so took them back up asked for replacement with maybe a can of sprite rather than draft after she tasted both yes the alcohol and then the draft separate she then only offered me a can to top up on top of the original not tasting rite double vodkas at that price and still never helped as that weird taste was still there 👎🏻

Smell in the room BAD , walls very dirty, bathroom missing the brush and dirty floor. Asking for a bottle of water at 1 am, no vending machine nowhere to buy in the hotel, receptionist with the fridge full of drinks not selling anything. Never again.

We stayed one night but we couldn’t sleep because of the neighbor room. They were so loudly until 3 am at night due to thin walls. The room’s walls were so thin therefore we even heard their screams voices and speakings while they were ****** ***. We heard all that screams. It was disturbing and disgusting. Definitely not recommended.

They said I didn't have a reservation even though I had one. They were very rude and discourteous.

I believe there are short staff... Check in and check out time is really Short (stay over in the room) You can check in after 3pm and check out before 11am.. room smelly maybe from the carpet. Toilet slightly dirty. Breakfast needs to add additional cost if you want or you can take their packages. Whatever it is, this is your call and you choose it. Don't compare too much. I hope management will do something for a better guest experience. Keep it up.

The service at this hotel is terrible. The staff are indifferent and unresponsive. They don't clean the rooms the next day, and the Wi-Fi costs an extra £7. The free Wi-Fi they provide has no signal in the rooms and can only be used in the lobby.

Although the location is a bit far away central, my family manages to walk about 15 to 20 mins mins and find local foods and restaurant Miscommunication between the new hotel staff and me for 3 more nights which paid an extra hotel charge, however the staff did apologize and gave extra miles to me with appreciated
