This was our first experience in an automated no-service no-staff hotel..we stayed 2 nights and did not see a single member of staff. the room was not cleaned and the breakfast was basic and only continental. For the price we paid, I expected a little more. the hotel is an old converted Georgian house and looks nice from the outside. Would I stay here again? No !

When we arrived there was no code to access the key. For some reason it hadn’t been sent. However after much checking of their records the owner managed to get our key. But as we had no code we couldn’t access the key safe when we checked out so just left the key in our room.
Breakfast was terrible!! One of the worst I have ever experienced in all my years of travelling. The choice was a packet croissant or a selection of 3 cereals. No fruit, no bread to make toast, no hot food, just awful!! In fact one guest tipped cereal on the floor then spent the next few minutes kicking it under the fridge!!
On our 2nd of 2 nights, we had an early start next morning so tried to go to sleep around 10pm. Shortly after 10, outside our room which was on the ground floor, a lot of drunk women started shouting and yelling and popping champagne bottles. The loud chatter continued for over an hour when they then decided they couldn’t get into their rooms as they had misplaced their keys. This went on and on until it got a bit too rowdy and the swearing started and we thought a fight was about to break out!!! But the hotel owner occupies a room on the ground floor and did nothing to help!
Awful, horrible hotel that doesn’t give what it promises.
To be fair on one point, our room was spacious, but advertised as a ‘Business Double’ I think is a bit OTT. I’m sure a businessman/lady wouldn’t have wanted to stay here.

Self-service hotel, convenient and fast, good location, surrounded by castle landscape, hotel facilities are clean and tidy, bright lighting, large bed sheets and quilt covers have just been changed, Ctrip booking confirmation email arrived 30 minutes after

The room was much better than expected, clean and comfortable. Self-service check-in and check-out were quick and convenient. If you don't know how to use it, you can call and ask for patient guidance. If you don't know how to use the access control, you can ask the staff. The location is far from the city center and various attractions, about 30 minutes walk, but you can take the bus.
In summary, it is still a good choice. After all, hotels in Edinburgh are crazy expensive. I will stay in this hotel again.

The cleanliness and location are not the best, but I think they are satisfactory for the price. One thing that was a little difficult at the time of check-in was that the key box password was different from what was announced, so I was able to get help from the staff, but it wasn't smooth.
