Fingal - A Luxury Floating Hotel

We loved it! Our room was perfect, portholes for windows, the furnishings were stylish and comfortable, the bed was lofty and wide. The meals in the Lighthouse Dining Room were the best we’ve had on this trip. The dining room is adjacent to an outdoor deck furnished for lounging. The staff/crew was top notch as well. Everyone was incredibly helpful and cheerful.

My wife and I spent a one night stay aboard Fingal, and it was a great experience. We were upgraded to a lovely duplex cabin with a comfortable sitting room on the upper level and a bedroom and en suite on the lower level. After some lovely cocktails, we had dinner in the lighthouse restaurant, which was superb. After a great night's sleep, it was time for breakfast, again a fantastic selection and top quality. All in all we would highly recommend Fingal for a special occasion.

A former lighthouse tender to a floating hotel. Luxurious rooms, very comfortable beds, and top notch service made for a great experience. Karis in the restaurant was especially thoughtful and attentive. My only note for folks looking for a high end hotel in Edinburgh is that it is about a 12 minute uber ride from old town as it is located in Leith. However, it is less expensive than five star hotels in the center of town. I would absolutely stay here again.

From the first greeting on arrival to our departure, we were given an exceptional service from all the staff. Fingal is simply luxurious. Bed and pillows amazingly comfortable, bathroom is delightful with fast flowing and hot water. Cocktails, dinner, breakfast - all delicious and so beautifully presented. Although Fingal does not sail away, just a one night made us feel as if we had had a longer break at sea. Wonderful experience

A truly wonderful experience from the minute we stepped onboard. Beautiful cabins, outstanding food and wines. An experience we will never forget enhanced by the attention to detail of all the staff.

We went to Scotland for a couple of weeks and stayed at The Fingal April 2,3 and 12 as we flew in and out of Edinburgh. We loved the Fingal so much we changed our reservation from another Hotel prior to our flight out on the 13th. As hotel rooms go, it was a bit small but comfortably opulent. Everything had a nautical but tasteful elegance that is hard to describe. It also had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The best part was the service. We were considering eating at their restaurant for dinner and I had a question about a menu item. This was 3:30 or so in the afternoon. They called the chef, who confirmed the dish contained an herb that I was allergic to, and offered a custom alternative! The only disappointing part was the view. We fantasized about being in a Harbor, overlooking the ocean. No such luck. Mostly more harbor, more ships and lots of buildings. You can look at the pictures of the place to see what appeals to you. What you can't see is the genuine interest the staff had in our questions, comfort and satisfaction. While the whole "ship as a hotel" thing was very cool, the staff was what made the Fingal a place that you would gladly cancel other reservations for. BTW, the food was incredibly expensive, but so worth it! (we ate there 3 times + high tea).
