Travelodge Durham
"Service was good, facilities and cleanliness was avarage, not a top rate but are reflceting to the price. It's ok for what we paid."
40 Winks Hospitality
"We spend six glorious nights at 40 Winks Guest House to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were instantly made to feel royally welcome. Our suite overlooking the river Wear and Durham Cathedral had been prepared and decorated in style with balloons, chocs etc. - see photo. Very comfortable spacious room, large bathroom with bath, stand alone shower and more than enough space for anyone. The manager George was particularly helpful with advice about the city, parking restrictions etc as well as being responsible for some wonderful breakfasts. 40 Winks will suit people who want a quiet, peaceful place to stay. Five suites and four other bedrooms give it a quite an exclusive vibe and together with the dark, tasteful decoration in the staircase and landings it is quite sumptuous. Are there any downsides? I guess if you have mobility issues the stairs may not be easy as the property has no lift because it is a period townhouse and there is only on street parking - expensive outside but much cheaper in a side road. Listening to the soft bells of Durham Cathedral drifting across the river Wear as you wake or go to sleep however is completely relaxing. Highly recommended."
Premier Inn Durham City Centre (Walkergate)
"Stayed for one night in Feb 2026. Comfortable room, nice facilities (love the tub), good location, and lovely luggage storage after check-out. Don’t miss their breakfast!"
Delta Hotels Durham Royal County
"That’s the second time we have stayed at the delta hotel the staff are friendly and very helpful would recommend to all my friends."
Hotel Indigo DURHAM by IHG
"The hotel was really nice and well appointed. The service from reception right through to check out was excellent. The setting for breakfast was great topped off by the quality of the food served."
Cbh Ramside Hotel Golf Spa Durham
"Good stay - comfy bed & convenient to where our event was. Not much sound proofing in rooms - could hear next doors conversation!"
Bannatyne Hotel Durham
"It was clean and we had everything we needed to stay a night. The bed was soft and big enough and shower was also clean."
Premier Inn Durham East
"If you only want a room then this is for me a great option. Lovely clean quiet room. Very friendly check in experience. Nice planted areas around the hotel and car park. Free and plentiful parking. Very near to a bus stop with easy access to Durham and the A1. The only thing that lets this location down is the food offer from the Beefeater next door."
Honest Lawyer Hotel
"Hotel was very clean and the staff are very helpful and attentive, however, their kitchen appears to be understaffed. The breakfast served by a waiter/waitress but on the first day,(Saturday), after ordering our breakfast we waited one hour before it came, on the second day we waited 45 mins before it arrived. By this time the toast and tea were cold."

Three Horseshoes Inn
"Absolutely amazing, can't recommend enough and will be back again!"
Moor End House Bed & Breakfast
"We stayed here last night 30/4/22, we had a warm welcome and the room was clean. Facilities are good and there is a pack with information which was a big help. Breakfast was delicious and we were treated like royalty! Would definitely stay here again. Lovely owners"
My Way Guest House
"The room was spotless and nicely furnished with THE comfiest bed! The bathroom was large and there were copious fluffy white towels (but no bathrobes as described). The views were tremendous and it was really close to Durham. The lounge area was lovely and accessible all the time. But…the breakfast was self-service continental style and we (and the other couple staying) loaded and put on the dishwasher which we’ve never done in a B&B before! The bedroom is within a conservatory and it was sooo hot. On our final night we asked for a fan as we couldn’t get a breeze from the window as the conservatory door was closed at night. The fan made for a better night’s sleep and I would suggest that the rooms have one in there permanently. On the confirmation email it did say that guest rooms were not guaranteed noise free. Maybe a touch of an understatement! We could hear the man next door having a good old yawn and if we weren’t talking ourselves, we could hear their conversations. Eeeek. It was a lovely location but I did think it was expensive. We used our Christmas present BuyAGift ‘2 night luxury stay’ vouchers and as we stayed a 3rd night, we paid the difference which was £230! Ouch."
Castle View Guesthouse
"Nice small B&B just across the river from Durham Cathedral and Castle. Charming building (a little hard to find - best thing is navigate to St Margaret of Antioch Church which is right next door) with modern updating inside. Quiet street. Superbly prepared individual breakfast."
The Old Colliery Stables
Durham City Cottages
"In addition to the location is far from the city center, the overall is very good: new net, spacious place, well-equipped, value for money. If you come back to travel, it is an inevitable choice."
Hamsteels Hall Cottages
"When we were looking for somewhere to stay we were concerned that there had been no reviews written for here since 2022? However due to being offered at a good price and being satisfied with what reviews were offered we chose to stay for two nights in May 2024. The checkin was easy and the accommodation (Hen House) is well presented, comfortable and warm. We found the information folder made us smile as it referenced info from 2019 & clearly hadn’t been updated for some time. The lack of any information detailing walks we could take from the accommodation with our two dogs was also frustrating. That said, we got what we wanted, a peaceful stay in a handy location. We had an enjoyable time exploring Durham city as well as Hamsterley Forest. We self catered with no issues. The WiFi was essential for the smart TV to work, so when the WiFi was knocked off on our last day before we had even left, meant our last impression wasn’t great. If we needed to stay in the area again we would consider returning though."
White House Cottages
"Stayed here for the bank holiday weekend as we were visiting Ushaw house and gardens for the classic car show and this is 5 mins away in a beautiful village with great pub. The Bay Horse, as recommended by John the owner of the cottage. Good communication prior to arrival. Comfy bed, great rain shower, dishwasher oven and microwave. Nice little touches like a pint of milk in the fridge salt pepper and oil in the cupboard. Easy parking right outside. Clean and looked after. Definitely worth the money, and lovely village location. ."
Durham Riverside Apartments
"This hidden gem is the best apartment I have ever stayed in. The quality of the furniture and furnishings is second to none. The communication from the owners meant we easily found the underground car parking included in the price. The owner was there to meet and greet us. He gave a comprehensive tour of the pristine apartment and outside. A host of goodies were there for us to enjoy. Fresh croissants, bread, individually wrapped quality butter, milk, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, jams, eggs and wine! Overlooking the River Wear, we relaxed on the generous balcony watching the world go by. I could have stayed there forever but we were due at an event at the Cathedral. The apartment is so central. If you are reasonably fit (I’m 71 and could do it!) the shops and cathedral are easily accessible uphill all the way. If not so fit, there are buses and taxis. The owner left booklets and a folder with all necessary information. I was very reluctant to write this review as I’d like to keep it all to myself. Go on, treat yourself. It’s worth it!"
