📍 1 Commercial St, Cornsay Colliery, Durham

"The hotel is located along a country road. The room is quite big. Breakfast is a traditional British food. To experience authentic British life, you should have a full English breakfast."

Delta Hotels by Marriott Durham Royal County
8.8 (157 reviews)

Delta Hotels by Marriott Durham Royal County ★★★★

📍 59 Old Elvet, Durham

"This is a very traditional British hotel. The building itself feels steeped in history, and the staff are very much in the English style. The room was clean and tidy, and the soundproofing was good. The air conditioning was plenty warm enough in winter, though it was a bit noisy. The hotel is located right near the town center, just a few minutes' walk, allowing you to soak in the charm of a classic English town."

40 Winks Hospitality Hotels in Durham

40 Winks Hospitality

"We spend six glorious nights at 40 Winks Guest House to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were instantly made to feel royally welcome. Our suite overlooking the river Wear and Durham Cathedral had been prepared and decorated in style with balloons, chocs etc. - see photo. Very comfortable spacious room, large bathroom with bath, stand alone shower and more than enough space for anyone. The manager George was particularly helpful with advice about the city, parking restrictions etc as well as being responsible for some wonderful breakfasts. 40 Winks will suit people who want a quiet, peaceful place to stay. Five suites and four other bedrooms give it a quite an exclusive vibe and together with the dark, tasteful decoration in the staircase and landings it is quite sumptuous. Are there any downsides? I guess if you have mobility issues the stairs may not be easy as the property has no lift because it is a period townhouse and there is only on street parking - expensive outside but much cheaper in a side road. Listening to the soft bells of Durham Cathedral drifting across the river Wear as you wake or go to sleep however is completely relaxing. Highly recommended."

The Shoes Hotels in Durham

The Shoes

"This is a no frills accommodation but they do everything really well. Room was big, clean and had all you need. The cooked breakfast was also great. Amazing value at £45 b&b. Would definitely stay again. You can also park right outside and the pub below keeps its beer really well."

Moor End House Bed & Breakfast Hotels in Durham

Moor End House Bed & Breakfast

"William, who owns the guest house was extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. The room was clean & comfortable, with a good little shower room en suite. Everything you could think of was provided - biscuits, tea & coffee, fridge, extra radiator if needed, all forms of toiletries etc. We ordered breakfast by choosing anything we wanted from a really comprehensive menu the night before and it was laid out for us in the breakfast room at exactly the time we had asked for it. William even organised a driver to take us to and pick us up from a gig at the Stadium of Light. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others."

White House Cottages Hotels in Durham

White House Cottages

"We stayed in White House loft and it was really lovely! John the owner was great when it came to booking and when I had to change the date he was very understanding and made it stress free. The house itself is in a lovely area, with a lovely pub across the road, nice walks in surrounding area and quiet area. The loft was quite large considering, with a fully stocked with utensils kitchen and comfortable sitting room and breakfast table. The bed was large and comfortable with a beautiful countryside view from the bedroom window. Large TV with Netflix etc so whether you’re looking for an outdoors visit or a comfy wall place to stay and relax this place is perfect. Parking available without extra cost also. I will definitely be back, this is now my go to place to stay in this area! I don’t think we heard a peep from the surrounding houses the full stay. "

Durham Riverside Apartments Hotels in Durham

Durham Riverside Apartments

"This is our 3rd stay at Chris and Wendy's magnificent apartment. We stayed at the duplex apartment as the bed configuration suits our needs. We have also stayed at the other apartment available and it is equally luscious. The apartment is , by far, the cleanest and best stocked accommodation we have ever stayed in.....and we do travel a fair bit!! Beautiful food 'essentials' provided, coffee pods, milk, bread, eggs, jam, butter, croissants, oh, and a bottle of Malbec thrown in!!!!.......just a complete haven. Our son is studying at Durham and he adores visiting us here when we come: a splash of luxury!! haha! Location is fabulous as it's a hop, skip and jump to Durham centre, cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Thanks Chris and Wendy for your hospitality and we'll see you again soon. We are hoping to bag these apartments for our son's graduation in 2025!!!"

"High quality, clean, quick and friendly check-in. No drama. A very solid hotel in Durham. Just don't try and walk from there to the railway station with a heavy case - there's a massive hill!"
