The air conditioning, hot water and toilets all work normally, and there is also wifi. The breakfast is filling and the swimming pool is good for swimming. "Although I've found people all over Tunisia to be incredibly kind and helpful, these are not the adjectives I'd use for the staff at the Hotel Sahara Douz, who seemed grumpy and not interested in addressing any of my questions. My room's AC was not functioning; and the room was filled with flies and mosquitoes, so I was reluctant to open the unscreened window for air flow. The walls were paper thin and it was impossible to get a good night's sleep as all one could hear were guests in the hallway or overhead, rearranging furniture."

The bedsheets are an afterthought: they don't get to cover the mattress, they're rough and also not always present (pillow covers what are these??). Moreover the thick fake fur blankets tend to be full of the sand dust The food could do with some investment. Appreciate we're in the middle of the desert but nothing stops them from bringing good meat here rather than boney and fat meat.. The receptionist wants to be anywhere but there Other tips: Arrive before sunset, the road is paved but also full of sand!!"
