"We arrived around 23:00hr, too late to eat in the restaurant, but the receptionist gave us a beer from the bar, some complementary crisps, and was happy for us to picnic on the pork pies we'd bought in Newhaven. The room seemed small but only because the bed is big, very clean and very comfortable. We slept well and after a fantastic breakfast (thanks Willy) we were on our way. We enjoyed our stopover and will certainly stay here again."

"J'ai payée pour une chambre avec une vue sur la mer. Ils ont refusé de me donner la chambre pour laquelle j'ai payé. Si ce n'était pas que la chambre n'était pas remboursable, je serais partie. J'ai eu tellement de mauvaises expériences avec Mercure que je n'utiliserai plus jamais la chaîne. I was impressed with nothing except the food at this hôtel. The room was not cleaned to my level of cleanliness (spider webs, smelly toilette, stained towers, dust in the floor corners, etc) I was given a room right at the roundabout so I could hear all the car motocycle truck noises ... and the karoake one night. At the breakfast they kept running out of things and not replacing them, especially the last hour of breakfast. "It's coming madame", and then "breakfast is over at 10H madame". This hôtel may be cool for others but it was not good for me. I expect a lot more for a 4* hotel."

"2 nights in a apartment stayed, beautiful location, warm reception and a beautiful view of the terrace. We were with his two, but there was only one apartment available for 4 people so we took it. Complete and atmosphereful device, all you can wish. The menu was too "starworthy" for us, so they didn't eat in a restaurant, because it was not spent on us. The last night, they took a dessert and it was beautiful and beautifully presented. "A reviewer noted in November 2023 that the hotel needed updating, and it seems nothing has changed. The hotel is shabby, it smells of cooking fat, my room stank of sweat (is this due to memory foam mattresses)?, the shower head was broken, and the shower gel dispenser had clearly been empty for some time. On check-in, the receptionist was more interested in doing things her way, than listening, so check-in was laborious. Good things about the hotel: parking, plentiful hot water, and a reasonable breakfast, though the layout of this needs a rethink. It could be a great little hotel, but it isn’t."

"This gorgeous b&b is next to the Castle. We had a lovely view of the garden and castle from our room. The owner is keen to be helpful and is very friendly. Our room was huge, with a pod coffee machine and a large comfortable bed. A giant bathroom with a walk in shower and stand alone bath. All in grey and white, very french. The owner said we could use the terrace so we bought our lunch from the bakery and took a bottle of wine and enjoyed. We will definitely go again as I think it is amazing value and the breakfast is very good too."
