"Perfect stay with half board. Excellent restaurant. Very quiet and comfortable. The half board menu was very qualitative. The breakfast was very complete, there is even a centrifuge. Good wine list. The welcome is very pleasant."

Hôtel Macchi Restaurant & Spa

Hôtel Macchi Restaurant & Spa

📍 94 Chemin De L'Etringa, Chatel

"We felt this hotel was tired, spa only open from 4pm so if you want to relax in the day you can’t. Bar was very overpriced, 12 euro for a pint of larger. Breakfast was overpriced and the quality (stale bread) and range of food was minimal. Light bulbs missing in the room, body wash in shower was empty and never filled up. No drawers in the room & no where to hang & dry wet ski ware. "

Résidence Odalys les Fermes de Châtel

"We stayed one week in Odalys during the christmas holiday with a family of 5. + The place was very well located in opposite to the Super Chatel + Close to a lot of the restaurants / city center + Apartment had two bathrooms and a balcony + C building was quite - Amenities are very poor; 1 regular and 1 small towel per person for a week. Towel change is 5€ per towel. The same towels should be used for the pool. No kitchen towels only a paper cloth Only 1 dishwasher tablet No soap in the bathrooms/shower - The spa/wellness which is advertised on the website is only a steam cabine (9€ for 30min) So overall this is a ok place only not worth the 4 star rating. Plus it would be nice to know this beforehand because then we would have brought our own stuff."

Hôtel le Kandahar

Hôtel le Kandahar

📍 1620 Rte de la Dranse, Chatel
★★★ 9.0 (15 reviews)

"We took a group of family and friends for a meal in the restaurant. We were not the easiest group to accommodate, with four coeliacs and one lactose free. They could not have been more helpful - taking the time to check that everything was gluten free or milk free as needed. We had a wonderful meal - thank you."

CGH Résidences & Spas les Chalets d'Angèle

CGH Résidences & Spas les Chalets d'Angèle

📍 Route de la Béchigne, Chatel
★★★★ 7.9 (46 reviews)

"The front desk staff were very nice and the apartment was okay. The issues that we had were: - the WiFi was non-existent. None of us managed to connect all week and we were told that this was a problem with the exchange rather than the apartment block. This didn't ring true as we had friends in the village whose service was fine. So if you are with teens, expect a large data bill - take your own pillows. The pillows provided barely deserved the term “pillows”, being tiny and without shape or support - take your own towels; those provided had seen better days -showers; the flow was weak in both - hot water. At peak times, i.e. the morning and after skiing, we struggled to get hot water. I was told that this was due to demand. if you are going to build an apartment complex, one of your key services is hot water - oven. There were no instructions."

"Accustomed to the place in winter, we once again had a pleasant stay. The TRINCAZ Family is always very attached to the smooth running of their customers' stays. The cuisine is always TOP and the various services too. We can only recommend this establishment"

Hôtel Macchi Restaurant & Spa ★★★★
"Some people will read this and think I am expecting too much from a small hotel in the alps and being too picky. However when you pay €350 per night for a room (we had 2 rooms so €700) in a hotel I expect a certain standard from that hotel. The rooms were clean but tired and I think are in need of some attention. There is no where to hang ski jackets and salopettes apart from 4 small hooks - very easy to rectify. We had light bulbs missing In the toilet and bathroom which made it seem dark. We had a kettle in the room but no tea bags or any milk, again easy to rectify. The Sauna is not open until 4pm, Why ? If you take a day off from skiing you want to relax and have a sauna and a steam but you can’t. The clock next to the pool has nearly all the numbers missing and doesn’t work! Either repair it or remove it. Furniture in the pool area also very tired. Breakfast was a joke!! Literally 5 industrial tins with some fruit in to put into a juicer. Tables are not set you have to get a tray and some cutlery from trays at the end. Like the school canteen. 2 bits of stale bread to choose from - come on - the French are the kings of making bread, put some thought into it. Some cold sausage and a bit of cheese was another alternative. Then you come to the egg station 🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s not the fault of the boys and girls but I don’t believe they have been shown what to do. I asked for 2 fried eggs and they came burnt on the bottom and slimed uncooked on the top - because the oil was boiling - I sent them back and asked for 2 more and told the girl to turn the temp down otherwise she will keep burning them. My wife asked for a soft boiled egg - the girl brought it raw and said it’s been in for 2 mins. My wife asked for it to be runny and it came back hard boiled 🤦🏻‍♂️ and here is the kicker. So for 2 fried eggs and a hard boiled egg we were charged €50! Yep €50. On check out we queried the bill as they had put €96 on per day for 4 breakfasts, we actually on had a total of 4 breakfasts, which they did remove off the bill. Oh and a beer 🍺 in the bar is €11.60, make it €8 and we would have had a few drinks in the bar and as we were a party of 15 in total invited our friends down to have a drink, however at those prices forget it. Positives are location of the hotel and the beds are very comfortable. Also the guy in the ski shop is great and the shuttle Service he gives is also fab but that’s about it I am afraid. In my opinion the owners of this hotel need to have a nights stay and take a look around at what they offer as I think you need some help on what other nationalities expect from a hotel. Trying to make more money by having less staff works if you get the basics right but if you don’t then it’s a double whammy. Maybe it’s just me being English but I’m damn sure the Germans and Dutch would expect more also. We won’t be back"

Résidence Odalys les Fermes de Châtel ★★★★
"Super convenient accommodation for a skiing holiday as it is directly opposite gondola and ski-hire shop but also close to shops, bars, restaurants. There are ski-lockers on site. 2-bed apartment was cosy and would be fine for a family of 3-4 or a group of friends of similar size planning to eat in most evenings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Odalys offer discounts on equipment and lift passes if you book direct with them. "

"We have been visiting the Kandahar regularly for seven years and have always had exceptional meals and service. Having eaten at many restaurants in Châtel, both on and off the mountain, the Kandahar remains our firm favourite and chosen location for family occasions. A big thank you to Florence and family for the wonderful hospitality and memorable meals. "

"This is a lovely complex with great Spa facilities . We had one bedroom apartment with three people staying . We had enough space but wouldn’t fancy having four . It’s 10-15 min walk up the road but you can get bus , it’s not as bad as people make out . Ski bus every 15 mins in the morning We used the bakery delivery which was lovely and fresh and sensibly priced"
