This is the second time staying in Fuji Ginkei, while the first time was in 2017. The reason I chose it when I went to Kawaguchiko the second time was the perfect location, service, and food when I stayed in 2017. First, I should thank the hotel staff. As you might know, it is tough for solo travelers to book a Ryokan room. As a search around the hotel list, which I think is perfect for the stay, Fuji Ginkei is one of a few hotels which said OK. I appreciate it. The location is perfect as you can see the lake and mountain simultaneously. For Kawaguchiko, only a few hotels have this kind of view. When you arrive at the Kawaguchiko station, don't forget to call them, and they will pick you up. However, when you live, if you want to take their shuttle bus, you need to check their shuttle bus schedule. I choose the Japanese-style room which a balcony since I want to take many photos from my room. It is worth it as the view from the room is perfect. I can stay in the room and watch Mount Fuji all afternoon. It even has an individual bathroom in the room, which is kind of rare. If you stay in the hotel in Winter, don't forget to use the outdoor onsen. It will be freezing to get in and out, but it is worth it as you will see a very clear sky and many stars when using the outdoor onsen. You will never forget it. Moreover, don't forget to go lakeside, which is only a few meters away. You can take perfect photos of the lake, Mount Fuji and the stars. It is impressive. Service is as good as before, which you can imagine. When you are having breakfast and dinner, the staff will talk with you, introducing the dish and telling you much exciting and helpful information. For once, I was discussing さかさふじ with them and really learned a lot. The dish is good. As I stayed for two nights, I think the first night's dinner was better than the second. For breakfast, I don't have too many things to say. Overall, the dish tasted good but not as impressive as in 2017, maybe because I tried some Michelin during these years, which increased my standard. Overall, it is an excellent hotel, and the price is not that high compared to other hotels around Kawaguchiko. Once again, is it worthy.

I stayed in a room with a hot spring bath on the Mt. Fuji side of the East Building. Blessed with the weather, I took a long view of Mt. Fuji from the evening to the next morning and soaked in the hot springs many times. (Laughs) The quality of the Kawaguchiko Onsen at this hotel is a neutral calcium, sodium-sulphate, and chlorine-based disinfection is heated and circulated, including a large communal bath and a private room bath. It is not a source hanging, but it is well managed including the spring temperature. It warmed up well. It seems to be a room meal, but I stayed at 々 at the end of the year 12/29 night, probably because there were many guests, in the dining room on the 7th floor, dinner was a course kaiseki dish, breakfast was a buffet. The beef stew that I expected was also served on the course because the amount was small, but it felt like a taste. Each was carefully cooked in a small amount, and the quality and quantity were satisfactory. I stayed until 11:00 in the morning, and I took a bath 5 times in another 々 large communal bath once, 3 times in the room bath. In addition, the large communal bath has a waterfall and an open-air rock bath in the foreground, and a large cypress bath in the back. I think the impression will change depending on the way Mt. Fuji looks, but I was lucky 々. Since it is the year-end and New Year holidays, the high accommodation fee is natural, but it was a satisfying content for the room, meal, bath, service, and environment that matched it.

This lovely hotel (its a bit dated, but everything is clean and very nice) is right on the lake, and very quiet. Its 10 minutes driving distance from the Kawaguchi-Ko bus stand/train station and there is a free hotel shuttle every hour. I would definitely go for rooms with a view - either of the lake, or of Fujisan. We went for rooms with lake view, and very much enjoyed it. The rooms are big and very comfortable, with a desk, an armchair and a sofa. There is also a small balcony, with amazing views of the lake. Its so peaceful, especially in the early morning or during sunset. The hotel is located in a large garden. There is an indoor and lovely outdoor onsen, where you can bath in the warm water whilst seeing bamboo and hearing birds. Breakfast is a good buffet. The restaurant for dinner is rather expensive, so i would recommend eating in one of the few restaurants in the small town.

Fabulous “destination” hotel…. The food was incredible (either French or Japanese degustation style menu). You could not get a better viewpoint for Mt Fuji. Advice: traditional public onsen so no tattoos but they have private baths too so happy days; a car would be helpful as the taxi service is fairly sparse; if you don’t have a car then book Taka from Native Fuji Tours (he was 10/10)… and pay the extra for a higher floor… we had one with a bath on the balcony… stunning!

Stayed one night with my family. No matter what the feature is, the food is delicious as a glamping. It's BBQ style, so of course we grill it ourselves, but I think the ingredients are good. Same goes for breakfast. Homemade cola is also excellent. I didn't eat it this time, but there were plenty of other homemade fruit wines and they looked delicious. The cottage-like accommodation was also neat. If I had to point out the drawbacks, it would be that we slept in a sleeping bag on a bed-like place, so we couldn't say that we were able to sleep comfortably. I couldn't help but feel sleep deprived. Correspondence of staff was very kind and seemed to be able to do hot spring facility in November (it was said that hot spring appeared as a result of boring.).

As a traveller with large tattoos, I wanted to leave a review here confirming that this onsen allows for guests with tattoos. This is the onsen review only. I went in the early afternoon on a Saturday and, while initially I shared the onsen with 4 other Japanese ladies, eventually I had the whole onsen for myself. Very hot water, 1 indoor pool and 2 outdoor pools, although one was not in use and empty. 1000 yen for 2 hours (bring your own towels), English website, easy to access from Kawaguchiko station.

The service was excellent from the moment we arrived to our complimentary shuttle service back to the nearby train station. Hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff did their best to accommodate our minimal japanese. The scheduled meals were fresh and delicious. If you have tattoos you cannot use the public baths but they do have a private bath you can schedule for 30 minute slots. My partner and I had a fulfilling traditional ryokan experience here!

Stayed for two nights and finally I got a much better sleep for the first time on my 2 week trip! Breakfast was ok, not fantastic-the place seems very deserted with many shops shuttered quite early on and streets dark. The bath was decent but nothing to shout about. Overall a value for money place just don’t expect too much

The hotel is nestled in a quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area. We stayed 3 nights in a room facing the lake with a magnificent view of Fuji-san. A van provides shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko station. The restaurant is not operational hence we either ate outside or bought food back from Lawson/7-11. Hotel staff were friendly and attentive, and there were Mandarin-speaking staff. We miss it very much even though we are now in Hoshino Amoriya, which speaks a lot about the Kumonoue Fuji!

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is fantastic for sunset viewing. There is plenty of parking across the road, with a surfeit of basically unnecessary staff. We had a reasonable-sized room with large windows and a wonderful panorama of the lake and Mount Fuji. That's all that's positive. The hotel is in two parts: the original building and an annexe. It is NOT suitable for wheelchair users trying to get to a restaurant. There are too many steps, twists and turns. There are lifts to find rooms in part A or part B, and the locations of the onsens (which switch between male and female every day - nice views, though). The signage is rare and confusing. As a stocky European (100Kg), I had immense difficulty sleeping on a very thin futon. The electric heater in the room blasts an unhealthy stream of hot air. Switch off this health risk and you FREEZE (we were there in late October). The hotel is relatively expensive, so you'd expect quality rooms. What you get is the uniform Japanese army-style sp****, goose**** green-walled room that you'd find in business hotels at half the room rate of this laughingly named 'NEW CENTURY' place. Minimalist, to say the least (in reality, pinched, lacking in generosity and well-being). At least there was a fridge (with a freezer icebox!!) In a series of measures as a response to the risks of COVID, there were no real glasses - just paper cups, and a message asking you to close the toilet lid before flushing. Disappointingly, the toilet was untypically low quality - no little hand-washing basin and fountain on the top of the toilet, and thus no towel in the toilet itself. (So, mucky hands grasping two sets of door handles to wash your hands. How's that for customary Japanese hygiene?) We (a group of 13 people - I was the only gaijin...) had booked an evening meal, room and breakfast the next morning. Dinner? Again, for the price, you'd expect a nice piece of fish (probably from the lake) right? NO way. We got a few bits of sukiyaki, and mean little dishes with bits and pieces of this and that... I've eaten MUCH better food in izakayas and bars throughout Japan. My opinion was echoed by most of our party. Breakfast was below ordinary. Simple, plain, dull. Something to dispense with quickly. Taking fuel on board, that's all. The service in the restaurant was desultory (= awful, ungracious). During dinner, a stocky old lady granted me the opportunity to be bumped TWICE by her capacious bottom as she served the person next to me. I complained and pushed back, to the accompaniment of giggles from her lithe, unobtrusive colleagues. Mercifully I was spared any further encounter with this voluminous rear end at breakfast. The staff at breakfast time were a) limited in number b) slow and c) VERY detached. One had the feeling they were cleaning staff put into waiting uniforms. Per person, we paid over 13,000 yen. Frankly, an outrageous price. The ONLY benefit was the view. For that, you don't need a hotel room. A bus tour will
Booked this ryokan purely based on pictures online. The entire experience definitely did not disappoint. Managed to try two different rooms, 1 with private onsen and another lead in room. The upgrade for the rooms with private onsen are definitely worth it as they are newer and much larger rooms. There is free coffee and tea in the lobby. Breakfast changes daily and is of high quality. Dinner was also amazing and a wonderful experience. Location wise, it is up a very steep hill and not suitable to walk up with luggages. The hotel does provide pick up service from the train station at certain timings.
JJaneDRoom very spacious with big sofa area. Perfect for three-four people stay. The facilities and room design are modern, nice decoration.
There is microwave oven in the room so convenient if you take food back to enjoy with friends. There are kitchen utensils.
Location convenient. 5 star recommendation.
GGuest UserHotel Lake Dragon Search cheap and hot spring hotels around Kawaguchi Lake♨ Inexpensive for single room without bathtub to this [Hotel Lake Dragon] I wanted to relax in hot springs without taking a bath in the room So it's a location with a view of Kawaguchiko Well (・᷄֊・᷅)/(・᷅-・᷄) If you say greed, you can't see Mt. Fuji from the room. minus point 🗻☀️。° Mt. Fuji walks to Kawaguchiko Ohashi bridge and you can see it immediately. You can do it. The facilities are 々 aging is also conspicuous, but the employees are friendly with polite language. The old-fashioned meals in the hot spring hotel, yukata, etc., like I went on a school trip when I was a child. I remember the nostalgic memories such as scenery. The hot springs are also open-air baths and the hot water is the best ♨️ The meal was only breakfast, but the contents were not good. The contents were a little bit more. as long as it's lonely as monsters and silas... well, it's a price-worthy feeling.
RRyunamiA classic hotel managed by two friendly elderly men. Both ojiisan cant speak English but they both understand whatever i said in English. They both tried to be helpful in anyway. The hotel's staff and crew are elderly people as well. The hotel is near to Kawaguchiko bus and train station (less 100m). There is a bicycle rental shop a few metres from its left side. The twin bed room i booked is small but comfortable and a few spaces for me to perform my solat. The sliding window is weird too and since i didnt know how to close it, we got our room wet from the rain that night 😭. The beds are comfortable with a small pillow each. The bathroom and toilet are small too but clean, complete with basic toiletries - clean towels, a hard toothbrush and toothpaste, a tiny soap and a packet of shampoo. However becareful with the hot water because the flow isnt stable and you will find yourself burnt from the sudden hot flows. Inside the room we have a TV, aircond (the room is hotter during summer even with an aircond), slippers, yukata (do not fret if you didnt bring a nightdress), two little chairs and a small table, a few packets of green tea, glasses and a weird kettle with Japanese instructions 😭😭😭 which we failed to understand. No mineral water in bottles provided so we used the boiled tap water. The vending machines downstaires do not provided mineral waters too. 7 Elevan and Lawson are about 200m to 300m from the hotel (on the right side). I got all of my rations from the Kawaguchiko Station because it is nearer to the hotel and the station. has all types of vending machines
LLoveNZ14First glamping with my husband. Stayed in a luxury cottage. The facilities were new and very clean. I was able to use the indoor kitchen comfortably, but I can't cut the knife. There were forks, spoons, and chopsticks, but no knives. The tableware is only 4 large plates, 4 small plates, 4 glass cups, and 4 enamel cups. Dinner BBQ on the deck was Shuhasco with bread, salad, shrimp and vegetable skewers. Separately, I bought Fujinomiya fried noodles, scallops, sausages, etc. at the supermarket and enjoyed them. Instead of grilling the shrimp, I brought my own pot and made it into a soup with vegetables, and the soup stock was very delicious. Firewood for the bonfire was purchased at a nearby home center. The price at the reception is 1.5 times that of the home center, so I think it depends on the person whether it's expensive or cheap. Breakfast is a hot sandwich with the prepared bread and ingredients. It was delicious with leftover yakisoba from the previous day. One thing that bothered me was the smell of sewage in the kitchen. I was able to spend a relatively comfortable time.
GGuest UserThis hotel has 3 blocks as it is set into a hill. The first block contains the lobby, then at the 5th floor you connect to the middle block (which faces Fuji directly) and contains rooms on the 6-7th floors. It also contains the bathing area with an outdoor view of Mount Fuji. From the middle block, the 8th floor connects to the last block which contains levels 8-10. This block has a view of Fuji but you have to look out your window at a slant. Rooms are run down and hotel looks like it was stuck in the 1970s. Curtains are stained, walls have marks, corridor walls are stucco. Shoji screens in room have torn paper. Sink looks dirty. Wood surfaces are worn. The finishings in the room could certainly use some refurbishment and love. However it is decently clean and I was still comfortable for my stay. Food was a good spread and tasty. I was treated to fireworks over the lake which was visible from the room. The hotel staff (front desk, dinner staff) all made it a point to mention the event and where to view it from, which I appreciate.
Old charm hotel. Stayed in a room for 4, comes with 2 single beds and another platform for tatami beds which we have to take the beddings out of the closet and fix them up ourselves. It has a separate toilet and bath with a golden plastic tub. It does not shout luxurious but offers basic stay. The views of Mount Fuji from the room is a plus. Hotel offers public onsen, bath soak for tiring legs, bicycles for rental. Staff are pleasant and polite. Located at one corner of Lake Kawaguchiko, it’s quiet but walkable to Lawson convenience store and a few eateries (grill, ramen, hoto noodles, etc) in the same area (about 5mins). Bus stop #5 of red bus stops in front of the hotel. Lake and a park just in front of the hotel; tranquil and offers unblock & beautiful views of Mt Fuji & autumn 🍂 foliage. Quaint Herb garden is just next door, with souvenirs and infamous lavender ice cream that matches those sold in Oishi Park without the crowd. If hotel is not as dated, has an in-house restaurant, we would return.
TTheUnlaidenSwallowThis hotel is a great relaxing retreat for solo travelers, couples, friends, and families. The onsen is clean and refreshing. The rooms are spacious and clean. The buffet offered had an expansive selection and was filling. Service was excellent however English-speaking is limited. We had no problems using our translation app! It is close to beautiful lakes as well as the Aokigahara forest & caves.
