GGuest UserIf you’re staying in Hohhot and want a genuine, memorable experience, this is the place!!! I can’t recommend this homestay enough. From the moment we stepped into the compound, the warmth of the family was immediately felt. You’ll be welcomed by a lovely lady, her husband, and his brother, who treat you less like a guest and more like family. Within minutes of arriving, they greeted us with snacks, a gift, and let us know they were already preparing a local dinner. We sat down with them that evening, sharing a spread of local dishes and drinks, it was a genuinely special night. I don’t speak a word of Chinese, and yet through Translate we had a wonderful time together. Before heading to bed, they asked what time we needed to leave in the morning so breakfast would be ready for us which was very nice! Morning came with their dogs greeting us and a delicious homemade local breakfast waiting at the table. As for the yurt itself, it’s beautiful and incredibly cozy inside, exactly what you’d hope for. There’s heating in there in case you get cold as well. We stayed two nights, and on our second evening we had to turn in early for an early flight. The other guest, though, stayed up late singing and dancing with the family, which honestly made me wish we could have stayed longer. I’d give this place a 20/10 if I could. I booked it thinking it was just somewhere interesting to sleep for the night. What I didn’t know was that it would end up being a highlight of my trip to China.

Breakfast was a semi-buffet with staple options like shaomai and plain noodles, and the savory milk tea was delicious. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the center of major attractions. To the north are Dazhao Temple, Xilitu Zhao Temple, and Saishang Old Street. To the south are Guanyin Temple and Baoerhan Pagoda. Next door is the yet-to-be-opened Labuqi Zhao Temple. The silver Buddha and dragon carvings inside Dazhao Temple, along with the dragon carvings in the ancient Buddha hall of Xilitu Zhao Temple, are well-preserved and exquisitely crafted – truly stunning to see. Also, the ice-boiled lamb at Zecheng is incredibly tasty; the Dazhao Siheyuan branch is the closest to the hotel, just a few minutes' walk according to navigation.

GGuest UserTaking advantage of the May Day holiday, I spontaneously embarked on a trip without much planning, intending to decide things as I went along. My classmate's mother recommended this hotel. To find a 5-star guesthouse-level hotel at this price during May Day was truly exceptional value for money. The hotel environment is excellent; although some areas were undergoing renovation, it didn't detract from the overall guest experience. The front office manager was incredibly welcoming, asking about our travel plans and offering genuine advice, such as visiting Dazhao Temple in the evening and reminding us about the significant temperature difference between day and night, suggesting we dress warmly. On my second day, I had originally planned to go to Chilechuan and then the desert, but she advised me to visit the desert first and then Chilechuan if time permitted. I readily took her advice, and the trip turned out to be perfect. The hotel's breakfast was fantastic and highly recommended. I look forward to staying here again during the summer holidays!

GGuest UserHighly recommended for self-driving travelers! The hotel has its own underground parking, and it's a very short walk to attractions like Dazhao Temple and the Great Mosque. The service is meticulous and thoughtful, and the rooms are clean and tidy. The surrounding area is also very convenient, with a convenience store right outside and an old-brand shaomai (steamed dumpling) shop just a few minutes' walk away. This is my top choice for a stay in Hohhot!

CcandysoulI stayed at the Shangri-La during my May Day holiday trip to Hohhot. I was a bit worried beforehand about the hotel being older, but the reliable service exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent; it's a short walk to MixC Shopping Mall, and not far from Dazhao Temple and Saishang Old Street, making getting around very convenient. I stayed in an Executive Suite, which had a one-bedroom, one-living room layout. The separate living room and bedroom made for a spacious and bright environment, perfect for traveling with two kids. They had already arranged an extra bed for my older child and a cot for the younger one before we checked in. The most delightful surprise was how the hotel showcased the grassland culture everywhere. The lobby featured yurts and hada (ceremonial scarves) to welcome guests, and horse-themed artworks were visible throughout. You could even try on Mongolian robes for a free photo op, allowing us to experience the rich Inner Mongolian culture without even leaving the hotel. Breakfast also had a strong local flavor. There were freshly made lamb shaomai, authentic lamb offal soup, and Mongolian milk tea – all the local specialties you could wish for. The Executive Lounge offered soft drinks, snacks, and fruits all day. During happy hour, the light dinner included about six hot dishes, with main courses ranging from shaomai to pizza and sushi. The service, from the doorman to the cleaning staff, was warm and attentive. The swimming pool was heated, and the fitness facilities were well-equipped. As an established five-star hotel in Hohhot, it's well-maintained overall and highly recommended!
