"Standard motel, with average facilities and cleanliness. You can park right in front of your room. The room has a balcony facing the road and the sea, offering an expansive view. The town is small and quiet, and the hotel is within walking distance of attractions. However, it's best to book restaurants in advance, as they might be closed if you go late. Drinking water isn't provided, and when I tried to buy some after 9 PM, I couldn't find any open shops in town. If you want to see penguins, it's best to join a tour; it's hard to find them on your own. But the sunset near Lobster Shack is truly beautiful!"

"It seems to be an unmanned motel. The heater and bathroom heater are on a system that automatically turns off after a certain amount of time. I was so cold when it turned off while I was sleeping."

"The evening penguin viewing tour was fantastic! We saw three little blue penguins, and the staff were incredibly enthusiastic and dedicated. The real highlight was exploring Diamond Island at low tide in the morning. The only downside was that the room didn't have an oven."

"You can park right next to the house. The house itself is spacious and very comfortable, with heating in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and both bedrooms. The bathroom even has a kiddie tub and a washing machine, so clothes dry super fast with the heater after washing. There are tables and chairs in both the front and back yards, perfect for chatting or stargazing. We missed out on booking a penguin tour, but the landlady told us that penguins actually come ashore all along the coast from the lobster shack to the blowhole. We waited at the lobster shack parking lot and were so thrilled to actually see penguins!"

Sandpiper Ocean Cottages ★★★

"We went to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and my husbands 71st birthday, we stayed in Hanalei Cottage a 2 bedroom nice cottage. We went on Friday stayed till Tuesday, we decided to not cook big dinners while away but there is a full size kitchen with all the kitchen ware you need. On arrival you are given a beautiful welcome basket of goodies, milk, butter, sourdough bread, eggs, two types of muslies we loved this and ate it all. The Cottage was well stocked with all the creature comforts you need, was clean, has a lovely veranda all the while very private and so quite you just hear the ocean just off in the distance. We found the access to the beach very easy and had it to ourselves each time we went down. Sandpipers is dog friendly our greyhound Wally loved it and was enthralled with the smells, the little noises in the scrub. Bichino is only a short drive away with everything you need, supermarket, takaways, post office, newsagent and bottle shop just to name a few."
