"Breakfast and staff was very good, friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Diner was fine but spring rolls way too greasy. The slats of the door were broken and did not close. This allowed everyone to look inside. That was worthless because the room was at the passage that everyone walked past We had to pay extra for the cocktails even though we were told we'd get two for the price of one, not two of the same. She only mentioned this afterward. It's a shame you only find out about this when you pay. Happy hour isn't explained on the menu."

Palmar Beach Lodge ★★★

"The experience could have been good because the beach is very beautiful, and the wildlife and flora around the hotel are stunning. However, beyond the unbearable noise from the construction work, the quality of service at the hotel is atrocious. The staff is completely untrained. It seems that the manager, Rene Saturnino, is more interested in “revenue generation” than in “hospitality”. Making more money is clearly one of his objectives. Providing even the bare minimum of good customer service is clearly not. The level of service isn’t even up to the standards of a one-star hotel. The employees look like they are doing forced labor. No one seems happy, and it shows through the service. In the end, it makes the experience horrible, and it really ruined my stay. I really wish they would put as much effort into training their staff—teaching them to smile—as they do into their WhatsApp group, where they mostly suggest (paid) activities to do. In any case, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel, which is completely mismanaged. Run away!"

"We loved our stay in Akwaba Lodge! Natali and JC are fantastic hosts and it really is a family affair! We ate well, slept well and enjoyed the wonderful surroundings including the delights of Red Frog Beach, Isla Zapatillas and many more spots! Nothing was too much trouble for the team there, to help us make a memorable stay for our family. The lashing rain on the way back to catch the plane was memorable, laughable and made for that extra layer of goodness :-). Thanks again to all for a wonderful nature, food and fun filled time."
