Wonder View Inn

I went on vacation to Bar Harbor with my two sons (18 and 20 years old) and my sister-in-law. I picked this hotel due to the location just outside of town, very quiet at night. The Bluenose Inn next door is affiliated with this hotel and you can use their amenities (outdoor pool, indoor pool, hot tub and sauna). There were many positives about this hotel. We stayed in the Ocean View Building (room 68) on the second floor, 2 king beds in one room, a queen bed in an adjoining room, one bathroom. We had a beautiful deck with 4 chairs with stunning view of the harbor. The beds, linens and pillows were extremely comfortable. Fresh towels were provided daily by maid staff and light housekeeping. Our room had a full side refrigerator and microwave, and a Keurig machine. A/C worked great but room also had windows you could open at night for fresh air. The Looking Glass Restaurant (breakfast and lunch) was right next door to the building which was super convenient, and food and staff were very good. Acadia National Park is right next do the park and the entrance to one of the Carriage Roads is right there. The Island Explorer Shuttle stops at the hotel so no need to drive into town and fight for parking. My sons are both runners and the location was ideal for their daily runs being so close to the Carriage Road entrance. The hotel is about 5 minutes away from the Hull Cove Visitor Center entrance to Acadia. The room worked for me for what I was looking for, a room for my sons, and a separate room for me, with a nice location and a big refrigerator for drinks and food. The Wonder View Inn, in comparison to the Bluenose Inn, is a bit dated and needs some minor refreshing and maintenance but nothing that was a deal breaker for me. Everything functioned well and staff was great. I would have no hesitation to return to this hotel, but for some pickier folks it may not be the high end experience they are looking for, if that is the case go to the Bluenose Inn.

Beautiful view from our balcony, we were located right next to the restaurant, however they were only open for breakfast ( and dinner on the weekends)That was a little disappointing… we looked forward to enjoying the fire pit outside the restaurant on those chilly evenings.We loved having a free shuttle bus come right to the hotel to take us down town!And the piano player at the neighboring hotel was was absolutely amazing!

The parking for our room location was horrible. The property appears old and somewhat run down. The siding on the building was filthy, giving a terrible first impression. Couldn’t decide if the room stylist/designer had chosen mid-century Goodwill or Salvation Army. The constant, incessant banging around from the room above us was very annoying and the property managers could not have cared less. They did nothing to assist at all. While the location is good, there is nothing else about this property that would ever inspire a recommendation or repeat stay. Even when we first checked in, it was clear no one had prepared the room for occupancy. The small refrigerator provided wasn’t even on and took forever to come to temperature. It also smelled old and musty. So glad I brought the Lysol! It is clear that this property is only about gaining access to your wallet, not about the quality of either their property or your stay. With so little effort, this could have been a completely different experience. Sadly, it was not a good one.
