Sapporo Hotels with Balcony

We stayed in nine hotels during our six week Winter visit to Japan; this hotel was the third most stylish but the second most uncomfortable. The corner double room has the right look with a little tea room next to a floor to ceiling window. We had a partial view of the Botanical Gardens which was pretty. The room was uncomfortable for the following reasons: 1. No storage. The room fit out is super minimal but if you have luggage there's nowhere to put it and no hanging space. 2. The designer was going for a zen low lighting experience but the room was so dark we couldn't see anything. There is one dim lamp next to the bed and another low light overhead light. It was so dark we had to borrow desk lamps to be able to see into our suitcases. Maybe the designer was trying to create a moody atmosphere but we found it dreary and depressing. 3. The thermostat has no fine controls - the room was either way too hot or very cold. We chose to turn the heat off and borrow extra blankets and wear extra layers. We chose the corner double room which despite being one of the larger rooms, felt too cramped for a four day stay. The onsen was stylish and cool. The outdoor onsen was set in cute snowscape. Having an onsen with snow around you felt very luxe. Unfortunately this hotel attracts a certain young, nouveau riche clientele who take selfies endlessly in this Instagram ready hotel. There were men taking photos of themselves in the onsen on two occasions; I felt like my privacy had been violated as I was in the same bath. It upset me they didn't respect me enough to abstain from taking video footage. Did they do that just because my partner and I were clearly not Japanese? We enjoyed the authentic breakfast, although I feel like having it once probably would have been enough. The location of the hotel was a bit of a dead zone, unless you love walking there are probably more central locations. If you can't speak Japanese the staff are just OK. I was overcharged and managed to get a refund even despite the language barrier. I would not stay at this hotel again but I did enjoy certain aspects of my stay.

We stayed 5 nights in Nov 2023 in this modern hotel in the lively Susukino area. It is walking distance to Tanukikoji outdoor shopping mall, Odori Koen park and TV tower, Ganso Ramen Alley and other tourist attractions in the Sapporo city center. We took a cheap airport limousine bus direct from Chitose airport to the Susukino stop and walked a few more blocks to the hotel. They also have a nice fire pit seating out front and a combini Family Mart store on the corner for snacks/food as there is no restaurant on site. We had 3 adults in a Family Suite with 4 bunkbeds, a large dining room table, well equipped kitchen with dishes, toaster, kettle, TV, fridge & microwave. You can rent other appliances and records from the front desk. The bathroom was large with deep soaking tub/shower combo & plenty of toiletries. We did not have any kind of window view however. This room was one of the largest hotel rooms of our two week trip to Japan. They do have a policy that doesn't allow outside visiting guests in your room without paying an additional charge. The Front Desk staff are excellent, welcoming and speak English if needed. There is no house keeping/room service unless you're staying longer than 3 days. Our one time cleaning service was efficient and thorough. We did a self check out in the early morning before staff arrived since their hours are limited. It was a simple process with an electronic pad at the front desk and English language button. We've been visiting Sapporo for several decades and this was one of the best stays we've had at any hotel in the city. We'd highly recommend this hotel for both tourists with families needing more space and people on staycation looking for a good location.

It was comfortable in a room that was not defeated by the cold of midwinter! The bed was too comfortable and it was very good to be rumbling all the time. Access from Sapporo Station is a little far, but it is the best because there is a soup curry shop on the first floor of this residence and Seiko Mart is right there. But when I visited in the middle of winter, the bed was comfortable, so I used it at home with a colon. It was the best, so I will use it again.

Private lodging rooms can be entered with a PIN. Parking is free. IH cooking heater, mini refrigerator, rice cooker, cooking utensils (pots, frying pans, kettle pots, colanders, bowls, ladles, etc.), tableware (rice bowls, bowls, platters, glasses, mugs, chopsticks, spoon forks), unit bath , TV, towels (large and small), desk and chair, 2 beds and a spare futon. It seems that breakfast and dinner can be ordered in the common space (suspended due to corona), and it was open to residents during the day. The hot springs can be used late at night and early in the morning, except during cleaning hours during the day. There is also a sauna and open-air bath. Since the temperature of the source is high, there is water and disinfection. Seicomart, Lawson, Family Mart and bus stop are also within walking distance (10-15 minutes). Enjoy a quiet and green stay.
