Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort
"It is lovely hotel with lovely staff. Room was clean and as expected for Gambia. We decided to upgrade to all inclusive four days in as we had been out and about a lot the first few days-BIG mistake! As soon as we upgraded the drinks were awful. Beer was watered down at the pool bar, spirits were not as nice, we could not have large beers as they were for paying customers only and service declined slightly(at night) Pool was nice and chilled with the staff around during the day. Never had an issue getting a subbed and pool staff more than happy to help. I think due to the star standard it could do with updating the rooms. The heartbreak for me are the dogs on the street but they are fed and watered by locals. Only advise-do not upgrade to all inclusive and if you go out tell the tour guides you’ve been before or they will hound you"
Cape Point Hotel
"This hotel is as well located and less expensive than its neighbors, with direct access to the beach. Bright and colorful neighborhood at the cape of this picturesque city of Bakau, where the population of the sand streets lives outside, and smiles spontaneously at strangers. A studied composition of small apartments around a swimming pool and its palm trees. In the rooms, nice wooden furniture. The water could be faster, and the wi-fi warmer, or maybe the opposite. The bathrooms are not new, but efficient. The clientele is sometimes danish , and polite. The hotel has its energy autonomy, so we are not subject to power cuts that often plunge the neighboring guest-Houses into darkness. In addition, a nice surprise, we can sleep. No dogs barking ate night. And far from the mosques, we are not woken up at dawn by calls. We feel good there, and we are welcomed with a smile. Nice housekeepers. The young receptionists are devoted, friendly and responsive, like Ara - and Amy, who found me a good taxi for 2am. They are nice, so we came back to say hello to them for fun, even we had left the hotel days before."
Roc Heights
"It's OK. If you are on a tight budget, it's the best choice. The breakfast is good."
One World Village Guesthouse
"The staff is extremely nice and helpful with everything. Next time I would not book the single room but opt for a more luxurious type. But since the place is nice and everybody was helpful it was all well."
Tropic Gardens Hotel
"I stayed here one night and decided not to renew. I will give you the pros and cons. You can make up your own mind. Pros: I paid 50 US dollars a night. The hotel is on the beach. The views are beautiful. It has a nice huge gym (open from 8 AM to 8 PM) which is basically sitting on top of the ocean. The views from the gym are spectacular - better than what you would get from a 400 dollars a night hotel in Hawaii. Free breakfast which included fried eggs, oat meal, sausages and tomatoes. You can sit outside and eat your breakfast with gorgeous views of the ocean. Cons: my room was really old with all kinds of water stains on the walls. There was no electric kettle or any equipment to make my own coffee/tea in the room. There is no safe. They say something like: "leave your valuables in a safe deposit box at the reception". The shower was ice cold. I used the shower at two different times, in the morning and after my work out and the water was ice cold on both occasions. There was no juice or fruits available at breakfast. I had to ask the waiter for milk, and I was brought a small glass of milk. The Wi-Fi is good in the room, but non existent as soon as you step out of the room. No Wi-Fi in the reception area or the gym. There is no water available in the gym. The sign says: "bring your own water and towel"."
