"The overall environment is good and suitable for multiple guests. Outside, there's a mountain view and next to it is a school. You can check in yourself in advance. What was really frustrating was the completely self-service nature, including problems in the room that the hotel couldn't address promptly. Also, if you don't close the door at night, a lot of insects come in, as shown in picture one."

"This hotel is at the end of the lake. The hotel serves a really tasty buffet lunch for 15.90 Euros. It includes, salad, soup, probably 3 or 4 meat dishes and  dessert. I was there 10 minutes before a huge group , maybe 50 in all arrived and I had to hurry myself to get my food because it would be a long wait. When I was eating people can’t squeeze by each other but I only ate there once and  since it will rain that afternoon I didn’t waste any time. I have to say the staff was ok. A lady checked me in quite efficiently. I paid the occupancy tax and I got the key. When I arrrived at 11:45 am, there was no one in the small reception office. A waitress was really serving diners. There is a man who worked at the deli /sausage shop next to it to help out. I have to say the staff there in general wasn’t that welcoming. I wish they had been more pleasant and show a little smile and happiness in their work. It seemed like she was there because she had no other choice.   The room is 12 at the end of a long hallway. There is a big window. The room is small but I was fine with it. No complaint. The other thing is I wish they put a table lamp on the small desk. Otherwise, the room has enough shelf space for me. The morning buffet is excellent. It offered some tomatoes, small baby coins , cucumbers, many different of rolls, several varieties of ham , salami, egg, sausages, yogures, juice, cereal.  The coffee is made with coffee beans and it was excellent. The breakfast is the best. The small village has practically nothing. There is another hotel 10 to 15 minutes that serve dinner. Another town Bad Goisern is 2.4 miles to the north accessible by train or by bus where there is a Hofer ( Aldi in the U S ) and other supermarkets and restaurants. If you don’t have a car, you have to be prepared something or pay to eat at the one and only restaurant that I knew. On the other hand, this hotel has a microwave oven and one water kettle in case you have instant noodles. The bakery a few steps is expensive. I had a coffee and a sweet roll for 8 Euros.  The hotel is a few steps from a trail that takes you down 6 miles to Obertraun . The trail is in good condition and a large distance is by the lake. You can find the trail in Alltrails. There is a restaurant called Seecafé Obertraun that you can rest to have a sandwich , coffee or a beer. The sitting is by the lake and there is a clean restroom . The waitress and waiter were both friendly.  If I have to do it again, I would take a bus to Hallstatt from there . I think the bus number is 542 to 544. It should be cheaper than the ferry which is a rip off . 12 Euros for a 25 minutes ride. Bus is cheaper . The ferry is a fraud and it shouldn’t charge that much. I didn’t know there is a bus connection from there. All in all, this hotel is quite decent. The hotel doesn’t serve dinner but the buffet lunch is quite adequate. If you eat at 2:00 pm ( I think it closes at 2:30 pm ), you won’t need to dinner. Aside from the not so welcoming one out of 3 staff members, price is unbeatable. I notice that the price doesn’t change if you book early or late and doesn’t use dynamic pricing which I hate. If there is availability, you pay the same price which is more than fair. I read that one guest complaInts about the smell from the kitchen and the meat market next to it. It isn’t really an issue. There is a door on the second floor leading down to the kitchen and meat market. Someone closed the door in the morning. Some people just was so nitpicking when they are angry which is not justifiable. I believe the owner offers a decent , clean room for a very fair price as Hallstatt is really touristy and this hotel is a much better option that staying in Hallstatt and pay overpriced food and lodging with every shop sells souvenirs. If you are in the area, this hotel is an excellent choice. "

"We ate at the Agathawirt, and both dishes left a lot of room for improvement. The onion roast beef was like a shoe sole, and there were no onions to be found either. The hash browns were clearly from a packet. The €20 vegetable pan was completely tasteless, and the hollandaise sauce was also from a packet. The non-alcoholic drinks are also pretty outrageous at €4.60 a 0.3l."

"This hotel really elevated our trip in the surrounding area. The room came with a nice environment, a shared kitchen for reheating food, with a nice dining area with great Mountain Views and. All the rooms have heating and AC, and the hotel was also very close to the train station. The hotel owners are also always eager to help you. the highlight of this stay was when Jasmin helped us plan our activities during our stay, with an annotated map and local insight. This really saved us from headaches and research regarding our visit to the area."

"This is a family youth hostel. The owner looks to be in his 60s and knows Hallstatt very well. The checkin will tell you many travel routes and give you a bunch of timetables. When checking in, he will say that he will send a self-checkin email in advance. In fact, there was no such thing at all. He took my mobile phone to look for it for a long time. It was indeed not there, but it was innocuous. The bed was very comfortable, the bedding was well set, and it was very clean. It was a breath of fresh air in the youth hostel. It was worth staying. Very cost-effective."
