"A really nice hotel with wonderful environment located above Ascona. The ladies at the reception were very friendly although not very professional but everything was all good. What was not in order was breakfast incl. service. The rhetoric was ugly and tasted horriblely for it missed the brat spike. The coffee machine did not work properly. Instead of a capuccino, some coffee came out no longer. The breads were not fresh and the Birchermüesli was too sweet and so on. Please go to Casa Moscia (about 100m walking distance) breakfast, then you know what a superb breakfast is and how it should be. Then try the dinner there. All in your restaurant needs to be radically changed. First of all, the incompetent staff. Even if you can work with the chef of the Casa Mosca. This would be a good solution to the problem, for example."

"We booked 3 nights at this hotel and I was a bit apprehensive having read previous reviews but what a wonderful, positive surprise. We were picked up at the train station by the hotel courtesy service. Greeted by the reception staff and offered a welcome Prosecco or soft drink and snack. The room with large balcony overlooking the spectacular scenery was very nice indeed, including outdoor futniture. The room was spacious, extremely clean, modern, very comfortable bed, little bouquet of fresh flowers, selection of fresh fruits and sweets. A kettle was provided on request. Bathroom was large with all amenities. Breakfast was super with selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, muesli, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, salmon, eggs, pastries and more. We had dinner in the hotel two nights (because the first night was so good) and the choice as well as the food was excellent. Compliments to the chef and his team. The gardens are beautifully maintained with sun loungers dotted around as well as around the pool area also with magnificent view. There is a very pretty pergola with outdoor seating where you can enjoy food or drinks overlooking the pool and wonderful scenery beyond. I paid particular attention to the staff due to previous reviews and found them somewhat surly although helpful and professional. However, we did get a bright smiley good morning from a guy who hoovering the corrider which compensated nicely. Also the lady who greeted us at breakfast and dinner was very friendly and chatty (I think she is a member of the family who owns the hotel) which I think is a nice touch. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk down to Ascona centre and lake, probably a 15 minutes steep walk back up which we enjoyed as a form of exercise. The hotel provides a courtesy shuttle service on request also to and from Locarno train station We have visited this hotel a few times over the years and it just gets better and better. Well done team Ascona! We are already looking forward to the next visit and highly recommend it. A few more smiles from the staff, a show of friendliness and it would be perfect."

"Short vacation with the dog. The staff was very friendly throughout. Even though the dog wasn't allowed in the restaurant, to my surprise he was allowed on the terrace, which was great. The staff there were also very accommodating and friendly. The room was as described and shown online. The view was really great (especially when the weather was nice). The surroundings were very beautiful, quiet and secluded. The shuttle to Ascona worked great too. Very nice atmosphere"

Markus Tauss and his team went above and beyond and made the visit truly memorable. The room was perfect! Homemade Lemonade and Ice Tea awaited us upon arrival, the view was superb, and the service was perfect! Every aspect from our stay was great, dirnks on the terrace, to breakfast in the Garden, what more could you ask for. "The Jazz Hotel is a cheaply furnished hotel in a central location in Ascona. The rooms are cheaply furnished and soundproof. We booked through a reputable booking platform. For a full week's stay, we were given the worst and noisiest room in the hotel, right next to reception with loud music and opposite the breakfast room and a freely accessible coffee machine. This meant no sleeping in and no privacy. We therefore asked for a quieter room. For an additional charge of CHF 250 (!), we were able to move into the same cheaply furnished, small room on a different floor. I'm unclear as to why we were charged this extra fee; it was supposedly an upgrade. The bathroom is old and very small, so you often end up hitting yourself. The shower was very small and calcified. The breakfast room has the ambiance of a train station waiting room. The breakfast is straightforward and always the same, served carelessly with lots of ready-made products. There wasn't fresh bread, rolls, or croissants every day, and stale sausage, cheese, and Bircher muesli were offered every day. Conversation in the breakfast room was almost impossible due to the noisy refrigerated counter. This was by far the worst place I've ever spent my time in, and the price was definitely not cheap. Never again."

"The hotel is high on Monte Verita; the view is really beautiful. The quiet location is great. The tea garden is also worth seeing. Unfortunately, at arrival we were not informed or instructed where the breakfast room was. It was not a nice reception. The information flowed more than delicate. The thin info film in the room is not complete. We could take our dog with; that was already positive. However, we received nothing for the dogs' pause; no water in the room, no dog bed, no welcome goods. On Saturday, a wedding society was found. Nothing negative, just that we did not find a parking place when we returned from dinner. There would the hotel guests have to find at least a reserved parking place? On Sunday, at beautiful weather, the table was covered for breakfast. Without questioning whether this would be OK for us... Generally unfriendly staff. The rooms without balcony with original building furniture and lamps. The bathroom is very uncomfortable. To shower you need to go practically over the toilet to get into the bathtub. The window cannot be opened. The furnace, from the last century, is also expected to be accualized. All in all simply lacks a quantine style and enthusiasm."

"This was a superb and very comfortable hotel. We were upgraded to a family room with balcony and lake views although the extra space included a room with bunk beds which we did not need. The hotel has had a total refurbishment in the past few years and is contemporary but not too modern. Service was top notch. Although there was a wedding on the night we arrived our small group ate in the restaurant and had outstanding food. Superb breakfast."

"July is a busy time of the year and Ticino is in peak season. We took two connecting rooms for our family. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The building is a bit dated but the condition of the rooms and lobby are still decent. Rooms facing the lake have an amazing view! It’s very nice to sit on the terrace after dinner and enjoy a relaxing view of the lake. The breakfast is nice in the morning. Gets busy so better to be a little early. We enjoyed the pool on most days. The water is cool and fresh, making a nice respite from the hot summer day. Location is nice if you are arriving by car. Private road to reach the hotel and nearby there are many walking, hiking or biking options. There is a great little park and children’s playground a few minutes drive down the road in the direction of the main town. There are many cute and interesting grottos nearby to enjoy a nice dinner alfresco. Overall we enjoyed our stay"

"This is a gorgeous more modern resort hotel with service that is exactly what a luxury resort should be in a beautiful location. We enjoyed our stay immensely even though it rained during most of our time in Ascona. The promenade and shopping area of the small town of Ascona is lovely and an easy walk from the hotel. From the complimentary private pickup from the Locarno train station which we arranged in advance, to the drive to the ferry dock for our next stop, the service was flawless. The room was beautiful, with plenty of space to unpack and store things with all the modern conveniences. The bathroom was large with one of the best showers ever. The only tiny hiccup were the door locks which can be rather tricky until you get the knack, but we were told that they will be changing that this winter. They have numerous restaurant choices and we ate at three of the four choices. The Marina, was very good. The Cassetta, which we reserved had to close because it was outdoor dining and raining, and we were immediately informed by the staff and given other options. The two Michelin star La Brezza restaurant was very special, and a most enjoyable evening with magnificent food. The chef who came out to speak with us was delightful as was everyone we spoke with. One of our top two meals we have ever had and worth the high cost. Our least favorite was the Eden Roc restaurant, but that had a superb salad bar, and was where the excellent breakfast buffet was served in the morning. The bar area both indoors and outdoors was centrally located and a wonderful place to relax, often with a piano player and one who was a delightful vocalist. There were many sitting areas throughout the resort which also worked very well for us because of the weather. The indoor outdoor pool with jacuzzi area was great. This is a fine case of you get what you pay for, and although the cost is high, we had no complaints and enjoyed our time there. We recommend."
