"My wife and I stayed in Alvormar for two weeks at the end of September and overall we had a good experience. The apartments have a central location, close to the bars and restaurants in Alvor, and about a 15 minute walk to the beach. The Intermarche supermarket is 5 minures walk away. There are great facilities:- swimming pool and cafe sun terrace library 24 hour reception daily cleaning We also found the staff to be friendly and helpful. On the negative side, our bedroom was adjacent to the main corridor (this would be true of all the apartments due to the oval shaped layout of the building), and we were often woken by people coming back to their rooms late at night. There was also some noisy parties on balconies especially in our first week. This is why we have given a four rather than a five."

"You’ll find Foz Club down a pretty beaten up road which, if you’re in a taxi, the driver will gripe about. This goes for any taxi you get while staying here! But when you get there, you’ll get a genuinely warm greeting that you can’t help but be charmed by. If you don’t have a car, factor in taxis back from town, but you can walk there in about 40 mins via the cliff top, beach and boardwalk. The host is very laid back and welcoming which is lovely. I’d recommend Foz Club but would say go ready to embrace something a little eclectic. It’s not run of the mill, but that’s what makes it special. "

"We stayed whilst attending a music festival and it was our first time at this hotel. On arrival the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The one bedroom apartment was spotlessly clean and very spacious. The bed was comfortable. We ate at the restaurant several times which we found very reasonably priced for a hotel and the food was of a very good standard and very generous portions. The staff in the restaurant are really friendly and attentive. The coastline and beach are a short walk from the hotel and is literally stunning ( there are steep steps down to the beach as the hotel and grounds are built on a cliff) The only niggles were a badly placed tiny door stop in the bathroom which both myself and my husband stubbed our toes on. Ouch! and having to ask for an iron and ironing board. I think these things should be provided in each apartment. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will return in the future"

"We stayed in the 2 bed villa. 3 Adults and 2 kids (13&9). The facilities are great and on beach. Plenty of pool space and no having to get up early to get sun beds. The Atlantico pool is unreal and great for older kids as plenty of space to dive in etc. The villas are very basic but cleaned everyday so I couldn’t fault it. Only issue is there is no air con in the 2 bed villas so if you are coming end of July / August it will be hard to sleep I say. Staff very friendly and helpful. Taxi into Alvor is only €5. Lively boardwalk too but quite hilly village so if you have young kids best to walk into Alvor and get taxi home. We had a great time here and would definitely recommend for families"

There is a private car park, although it will soon require a fee, and there are also plenty of free parking spaces nearby. Towel rental is available as well. However, the pillows were too soft for my preference. I requested a foam pillow, but was given the same type of pillow instead."

It’s tough, long and in fairly good condition. BUT the bunkers are awful. For me to consider returning they need to set them out. Compacted, flooded, grass growing in them. They need a full overhaul."

"We really liked this place. it's solid, clean, efficient - built well (heavy secure doors ). It's well run - the receptionists are very good, speak multiple languages and are always available at reception. Beds, furniture, cooking facilities are all good. Free WI FI. Bathrooms are high quality. Some other nice touches too - weighing scales in reception - for weighing travel bags to ensure they are not overweight. There's a guest room too - so even though apartments need to be vacated by 11:00 am, there's a secure room to store luggage and good facilities to shower and change before travel. Hotel is quite Central with easy walking distance to shops/restaurants etc."

"My first visit to this hotel was over 30 years ago. I am pretty sure the same tiles were on the walls by the dining room back then! Not a criticism, just an observation. We stayed in this hotel last year, and had such a lovely week, we returned this year, but earlier in the season. It didn't start too well as despite the hotel being quiet, our room wasn't ready. The official check in time is 3pm. Our luggage was put away securely and we were free to use the hotel facilities. Initially we sat under cover, had a drink and then, because it was chilly in the shade, we moved out of it! A mistake! We were there less than 2 hours before we got sun burned - not the hotels fault of course, but a reminder to pack sun cream in hand luggage! Reception had told us they would ring once the room was ready, they didn't. Had they rung we would not have been hanging around quite so long. We booked a sea view and our room on the 12th floor was disappointing because it was a side view of the sea really, not as lovely as the previous year, but we did get some afternoon sun. Last year we enjoyed the Surf & Turf restaurant and the Italian restaurant in the hotel. They required booking in advance. This time we were told that they weren't open as it was low season which was disappointing. I think it was misleading to read the additional restaurants timings are variable, they aren't variable in low season, they are none existent, just state specifically when they are closed so that people know what to expect. I think there were supposed to be 2 themed nights in the restaurant, but honestly, I didn't notice any difference. One day we found ourselves on the 12th floor with no lifts working. We asked one of the housekeeping staff, who didn't understand us, and who seemed equally surprised they weren't working and tried our electronic key and her own. We ended up walking down 12 flights, which was admittedly much better than walking up 12 flights! Once in Reception, other people said they had been told this was a scheduled event and all guests should have had a letter in their room informing us this would happen. No one we spoke to, including the housekeeping lady knew it was happening. Not sure how long the lifts were out, it may have been minutes and we were just unlucky with our timing. Not a single sardine was seen all week, not a Portuguese tart! I know Sardine season hadn't started yet, but tinned sardines on the salad bar would have been good! I see some people complain about the food, but honestly, you don't go to an all inclusive hotel and expect fine dining. You won't go hungry that's for sure. The staff are all lovely, and enthusiastic! Whatever they pay the animation team, it's not enough, give them a pay rise. Not being fans of scheduled "fun" we escaped the hotel for most of the day just to avoid being entertained! Maybe we could agree that if you are around the pool, you are fair game, if you are on the grass, you don't get disturbed!! Despi"

"The hotel was lovely and very well maintained - rooms and ground. Good selection of food for breakfast with menu options for lunch (which we didn’t try). Right next to a gorgeous beach which wasn’t that busy at all with a variety of restaurants available close by on the board walk and a 20 minute walk to Alvor. Not many problems encountered at all. Only thing was that sometimes your room wouldn’t be cleaned until the end of the day (5pm) so just something to be aware of although depends what room you have and when it sits on the list plus also factoring in how many full room turnovers they have to do as well. I do wonder if they need more housekeeping staff, especially if the hotel gets busier?"
