I recently stayed at the West Side YMCA and found it to be a great budget-friendly option in a convenient location. The rooms were clean and simple, with basic amenities that suited my needs for a short stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the communal areas were well-maintained. It’s perfect if you’re looking for affordable accommodation in the city without luxury extras. I would definitely recommend it for travellers on a budget or those who prioritise location over high-end comfort.

The location is very good. The metro is a 3-minute walk away, which takes you downtown in 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and helped me whenever I needed help. The place seems to host homeless or needy people. The hostel is very old and run down. There are no room keys. You have to ask at the reception. The mattresses and sheets are very dirty. There are no blankets. The plugs are half broken. The bathrooms and sinks are broken. It should be noted that there was soap, but it smelled very bad. There were cockroaches. I understand that for this price it is a lot to ask. But at least the conditions are humane. Conditions in prison are better.
I thought it was a really relaxing place. Since June 5th, I have stayed several times in a row. I stayed for almost a month, but it is very convenient because there are restaurants, a market, and a convenience store nearby. Good location. After all, it's safe and secure, and it feels like a little sure house with a round on each floor. I want to use it again.
The staff were all very kind. The front door is also safe with a security door. I was relieved with a security door that could not be easily invaded from the outside.
Advantages: 1. The owner of the homestay warmly received and introduced the room facilities. 2. There is a TV on the first floor to play games, the kitchen on the first floor is fully equipped, you can cook by yourself, you can drink coffee in the backyard, BBQ. 3. Located in the city, 2 minutes from the No. 6 subway station, the subway is convenient to travel and the tour time is controllable, and the taxi cost can be saved more than $100 per day. 4. The biggest advantage is that the room price is cheap. Disadvantages: 1. Public toilets, if you have cleanliness, please consider it comprehensively. 2. Close to the train track, there is a little train sound, if you have trouble sleeping with nervous breakdown, please consider carefully. Conclusion, next time I go to the center of New York City, I will renew this hotel.
It is less than a 10-minute walk from the subway station.
There are about 5 people in each room, and toilets and showers are shared within the room. Water can be bottled in the kitchen room.

Halloween heaven! Loved this place! So easy to navigate from the airport on the metro. Easy check in and nice dorm rooms.
Downstairs kitchen and social area was enormous, lacked a bit of atmosphere but that’s the post covid population I guess?! Lots of local food markets/ grocers to pick up things for dinner or a packed lunch. Hudson food market was my saviour. Lively deli items, pantry items, liquor and a fantastic coffee in the morning when I was heading out for a full day!
Wonderful facilities, food looked great, wish have had time to eat breakfast before leaving there. Next time 😲 The front desk staff could spend some time to point intereial direction and introduce interesting activities.

Overall a great place to stay! One suggestion I have is getting curtains for the dorm beds for more privacy. The private room, which I stayed in 2 nights, is very nice.

GGuest UserThis is a no friils, basic motel. If you're trying to save money on your lodging while traveling to New York City & surrounding areas, this is a great place to stay to save money. The motel is close to various local amenities as well as the Metro North train station. Taking the train will bring you to Grand Central Station in heart of NYC - Manhattan, in 30 minutes. I found the room, bed, linens and the bathroom to all be clean. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, mini drip style coffee maker, TV and a small desk. The bathroom had clean towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Though it was a bit cramped. The stand-up shower was great with good water pressure and plentiful hot water. There is parking in front of each room and it was fairly quiet. Again, this is a budget motel. So if you're not looking for anything fancy, I would recommend this place. Can't beat the price for being so close to NYC.

RRolandJosh was a very friendly host. Checkin/Checkout was a breeze. As was the swimming pool. Large (for a motel), perfect for a proper swim and relaxation after a long drive.
The room was decent. Yes, it's old school, and the bed is on the very soft side (if you prefer more firm beds, you might not like it), but it was clean, and all worked as it should.
The shower head is fantastic. If you like a perfect water pressure, you'll love to refresh here.
There is a petrol station nearby, as well as a local diner. For more than that, you'll have to drive to one of the nearby villages (5-10min drive)
tl;dr: All great, would stay again. Bed mattress is very soft.
GGuest UserThis hotel appears to have recently refurbished its rooms. Everything in the room and bathroom was new looking and clean. We had a king bed, which was nice but did not give much room on the sides, but it was adequate. The breakfast was very simple: 2 dry cereal choices, some package oatmeal, breads and small muffins, 2 juices, milk. Unfortunately the 'dining area' is in the reception area and only has 3 tables, despite many more rooms. It would have been nice to have a picnic bench or two outside for people to sit and chat or have breakfast. But the price was right and the rooms good. Surrounding hotels were trying to charge $300 and above.
BBENGWe check-in very late around 4:00am due to our late flight and 1 missing piece of luggage. Got our room promptly, but the bath tub was choke and dirty. Tried to change our room, but was told that there was no other available room, but they sent someone to fix it in the morning.
The hotel is pretty basic, more for people with own transport.
Location wise, there is not much around the area, but we found Denny's within walking distance. There are a couple of other eating places as well, though we didn't try them.
GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located near Central Park, providing easy and quick access to the city center. The staff at the front desk were also incredibly friendly, which put me at ease. Moreover, the bathroom was impeccably clean and thoughtfully stocked with shampoo and body soap, ensuring a comfortable shower experience. The bedroom also has a sliding door that provides privacy, a thoughtful feature for guests who appreciate their personal space. If you're planning a trip to New York, I highly recommend making this hotel your top consideration.
GGuest UserThis motel was a bit more than expected, the room was very spacious, but there was a chair missing and we had to stand and eat. The front desk service was very good, when we said that we wanted to stay for one night, we were told that the room was full. Simple breakfast provided but had to bring back to the room to eat as there were no tables and chairs for dining. Overall quite satisfactory.
