"Arrived at the place of accommodation early due to the boat schedule and rain. The owner of the hotel asked me to check in early and only charged a cheap early check-in fee. I am very grateful!
Arriving at Beppu Port, there is a bus to the homestay, very convenient!
Traditional Japanese room with many windows facing the outside view, very beautiful! There is a simple kitchen inside to cook food!"

The hotel is located near Matsue station. The front desk agents were very polite and did their best to talk to me, despite my very broken Japanese. Guests are given a locker, protected by a keycard. The locker itself was good enough for me, who took only a conventional backpack and a pair of shoes, but might not be enough for those who are not traveling light like that. The bathrooms were shared and quite clean, fully furnished with amenities for showers and personal hygiene. WiFi was included and it was quite decent for general use, even when inside the shared bedroom. The bed capsule had a pillow and a blanket, lights and power outlets for phones. I had more space than I imagined, enough for me to sit on the bed. The only downside of this room type was air circulation, probably due to the hot climate that's been the standard here in Japan lately, but I think the fans could work more efficiently or the capsules could use an AC outlet. Other than that, I recommend this location and will certainly stay with them again.
Nicely situated in the centre of one of the two main streets in Yunotsu. I stayed in the bottom capsule which is much more spacious than the top capsule since you get space to put your belongings. Kitchen was equipped with basic condiments like soy sauce and cooking oil. There is a coin laundry facility in the adjoining building - 500 yen for wash and 100 yen per 10 mins of drying.
The only concern I had was with the check in process, which luckily for me I was informed about before by reading the reviews. Check in is at Kazeto, another hotel around 5 mins walk away from Watowa. This can be troublesome for guests arriving by foot as you’ll need to backtrack to Kazeto if mistakenly arriving at Watowa first. Staff at check in were helpful and friendly (English speaking) and provided ample information about the facilities and attractions in Yunotsu and surrounds.
All rooms can see the sea. The bathroom is clean. Toothbrush amenities are 300 yen for a fee. There is a kitchenette and a 2-door refrigerator, so you can cook simple dishes, and you can store them even if you need something to keep them cool. There are basic seasonings. Of particular note is coffee beans and mills, and I'm glad if you like coffee.
The wall is thin enough to hear the snoring in the next room.
There are many outlets and there is no problem with charging electronic equipment.
I wonder if breakfast was 1300 yen. It was normal, so I made a room meal with a sandwich I bought at the supermarket, but I was satisfied with the coffee mentioned above. Dinner is about 12,000 yen for two people at the rice restaurant. Reservations are required for this place on holidays. There are quite a few customers from outside. It is also wonderful in a hot spring area with a taste, and there are sandals and towel kits for going to hot springs.
It is quite tight that there are few parking lots. Both guests and eat and drink guests are full because they are cars. The score becomes worse in this respect. Parking refugees feel sick even though they are guests in such a remote place.
I'm glad you're improving the others.
