Location: Located in Cairo's Old City, walking is virtually impossible due to safety concerns. There are no convenience stores nearby, so delivery is required. Amenities: Free swimming pool; laundry and drying services are provided for a fee and are provided by staff; a shared kitchen and showers with filtered showerheads are available. Cons: The bathrooms smell due to the wastepaper collection system. The villa was renovated and has wooden floors that creak when walked on. Overall: Despite these drawbacks, this is a recommended stay if you're looking for a safe and affordable stay in Cairo. Other than the drawbacks, everything else is positive.

Very attentive staff and super helpful with every request. We had to check out very early the next day, and even so, they had the great detail to leave our breakfasts prepared earlier than usual. Situated in a central location. Very recommended.

The view of the museum is very good. The building has a classical design, very beautiful, and there is an antique iron elevator. I like antique buildings very much. This is an unexpected surprise for me when I live here. The only thing is that the entrance to the first floor is very scary, very dark and dirty, and it feels like an ancient castle exploration. I know that it is a public space, not a hotel. If it can be brightened, it will make people feel better at first. The attitude of the staff is also a plus. The young guy is enthusiastic and polite. The location is also very good. The water heater is not hot, but the staff is very active in dealing with it. Although I came back a little late, I can still take a shower after it is dealt with. Living on the fourth floor is not very new. The window could not be opened at the beginning, but it suddenly opened again the next day. The museum is very beautiful, but it’s a pity to leave in a hurry. Facing the road, there is a little car noise. Cairo likes to honk, but I have the habit of wearing earplugs and can fall asleep. My companions can also fall asleep without earplugs. Although the breakfast is scheduled, I have to remind them to start it. It is also beautiful to be able to watch the museum and eat breakfast. The bread is delicious. They have a new room on the fifth floor, which feels very good. They took us to visit the room. It is much newer than the fourth floor. You can look forward to it.

Room is in a good location close to Tahrir Square and Egyptian Museum. You will need to carry your luggage up the stairs for one floor after taking the lift (goes up to the sixth floor) which is something to note if you have heavy luggage. Room is basic but comfortable enough, would like to suggest putting more hooks in the toilet and more electrical outlets.

This hostel has a good location and I would say that it is pretty walkable in the early morning and very late at night but the walking infrastructure is not the best in Cairo. Mid day the traffic makes it very tricky to walk around even though there are many good restaurants and attractions nearby. Finding it is a little tricky but it is down an alley that doesn't allow cards and it is located on floor 2 of an older building. There is an elevator but all doors and gates need to be closed in order for it to work and we found guests at the hostel weren't good at closing after themselves. The staff are very kind and welcoming but we got a bit hung up on the payment. We booked on Trip with the ”Pay at the Hotel” option for 3100 Egyptian pounds for three nights in a private room but they were asking for 3600 when we were checking in. After a little back and forth they let us check in and gave us the keys so we could rest and wait for the manager's answer. The manager said no to our booked rate, we were told we booked on ******* and we now had to pay 3900 Egyptian pounds. I'm at a loss of words for this discrepancy between Trip and the hostel but there weren't better deals in the area we wanted to stay and we very reluctantly paid. The room was just a place to sleep with a box to the side where our shower and toilet were. The box had no ceiling or ventilation so there were smells throughout the room from the drains. The beds were comfy but were not completely clean when we arrived - there was hairs in the bed sheets. The room cleanliness overall could have been better. The area is quiet at night and we got a good night's rest to spend our days exploring Cairo. The breakfast was ok but there wasn't much room to eat in the common areas during our stay so we asked for breakfast in our room during our stay. We had a simple breakfast with a fried egg, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, banana, tea/coffee and Arabic bread. It is enough to get you through until lunch and is served starting at 8 pm. There is a convenience store close by that offers fairly priced snacks and drinks which you might want to seek out because they do not provide water at this hostel. We hope this property improves because it seems like it used to be really good and the location is good as well.

The location is at city center nearby to Egyptian Museum. Plenty of amenities within 10 minutes walk. The famed Koshary Abu Tarek is within 6 minutes walk. The rooms are well maintained. There is a staff at the reception 24/7. Guests of all ages and nationalities can be accomodated. Suggestion for improvement: 1. The towels to be issued upon check-in and not upon request. 2. The lift need to be upgraded as I was ever caught inside when there is a power trip. And often the lift did not operate because the lift door was not closed properly. Understand that the lift is not manage by your hostel. Please request for it from the building owner as it is not acceptable. 3. Consider centralized air condition system. Anyone can turn off the air conditioner affecting others.

The location is very good and the view is great. I like the slightly old buildings outside the window. It feels very Egyptian and has a sense of time! The staff are very enthusiastic, and the boss is very helpful to my trip to Egypt. It is the beginning of my trip! I was very troubled by phone or text message in the morning or at night. I was embarrassed, but he was the first person I thought I could trust in Egypt! Thanks to him, thank you for this hotel, I changed my opinion on Egypt~ There are good people in places with bad people~i like him~

I was here looking for a clean and low-cost inn as much as possible The room was clean and there were no insects and all my stay in Cairo was taken care of by this hostel Due to the structure of the shower room, the floor of the toilet gets wet and the outlet of the bed is so hard that men cannot use it themselves, and they have to charge it with the outlet of the common area. I'm generally very satisfied. The staff was kind and helpful even at late check-in at night, and the location was very grateful as the starting point for sightseeing in Cairo as the station and large bus terminal are within walking distance. The entrance of the hotel is a little difficult to understand and it is anxious about old elevators, but the hotel is very modern and clean, so it is recommended

AAnonymous UserIn general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights. Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building. * Location & Transportation Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum. And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price. In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones. Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it. * Building and room conditions Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room. It is quite convenient a washstand in each room. However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler. It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel. * Cleanness & Safety Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this. * Services There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water. Wifi is too weak to use the internet. Other services like laundry are satisfied. * Others During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally. In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better. And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable. Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.

GGuest UserWhen we arrived, it was a little difficult to find the building, because there was no sign of Lucky Hostel in the lobby. However a very persistent man outside, insisted that the building with sign “El otel”, is the correct building. We trust him and we entered. Another problem, it looked like to use the elevator to 4th floor, we must have access card. We wait for about 5 minutes and fortunately there was a man came down, and we asked his help to tap on the elevator using his card. Other than that, my husband & I were happy to stay in this hostel. Our room was so big and with sofa too!! Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Hot shower was very pleasant in cold morning. And we were very happy that the staff allow us to put our luggage while we were away to Luxor. We stay for total of 4 nights and we were allowed again to put our luggage while we went shopping, because our flight was in the middle of the night.

GGuest UserThe hotel is quite close to the Egyptian museum, The facility is okay - The place is quite old but clean. The hotel staff here are very nice especially Mr Anas he was quite energetic and really looking forward to service + friendly I didn't expect that he was invites me to the lunch together with them ** note** for someone who cannot sleep with the noise - the hotel is quite close to the Egyptian Street which is always honking the horn. Solution ** ust bring an earplug ( The one that you would receive on in airplane ) and everything's gonna be fine In conclusion this hotel is reasonably priced for this quality. if you don't expect for something luxury but friendly , This hotel could be your choice

GGuest UserThe location is good as it is close to the downtown area. The building may be difficult to find at first glance. It was clean and the room was spacious for the price. The staff was also kind. You can see the whole view of Cairo from the rooftop. The hotel is located in one part of a building, so you have to take an elevator to get to the entrance. The elevator is a different type than in Japan, so it's surprising at first, but it's fun to think of it as an experience. As the reviews said, I think this hotel can be recommended to Japanese people as well.
