Jianshui Ancient Town
The owner is very friendly and was easy to communicate with (via translate app). We got a great room with private bathroom. Whilst the bed is a bit hard en the toilet off the squad type, that is to be expected in this part of Asia. We had a great stay here as it was just a short walk from the lively old town centre. Would definitely recommend this place to other western traveler’s. The other guests were welcoming to us and some spoke some English with us. Oh there is free drinking water from the ancient well, hot water and the owner shared a lot off fresh fruit with us. Thank you for the great stay

Railway Station Area
Location was great that it was a walk away from the Kunming Railway Station where I needed to be to leave the city. I liked how it was near a lot of food places! The volunteer Evens was an interesting person to talk to when I learned about his background in what he does as an occupation and where he is originally from in China. The owner Winni was a nice person as well and I appreciated and enjoy her and some of the other guests that cooked for us the night that we had a big dinner. Thank you for being part of the chef crew Winni. Everybody who stayed at the place was respectful and considered towards one another in the way that they conducted themselves. Was able to go along with the rules of this hostel because it fit my daily habits. Nobody had any habits that bothered me. Not really into the hostel type of stays, due to lack of privacy. Was just happy to stay at this place since it was pretty much right at the doorstep of the Kunming Railway station where I can catch my train on time where I wouldn't end up getting lost in the city which in turn would end up missing it. The only negative thing that I didn't like was that the bathroom did not have bath towels and just regular hand towels where I would not be able to dry myself very well after showering. Because of this I didn't want to take a shower at this place and the fact that these towels were used repeatedly from other guests, which made me feel uncomfortable wanting to use it. Would come back to this Hostel again if I happen to have to come back to Kunming again where I needed to be near this train station to catch at train there.
KUN MING UPLAND INTERNATIONAL YOUTH HOSTEL

Cuihu District
Great place to be based in to check out Kunming. There are daily planned activities which we didn’t participate in due to the lack of time. We needed up paying for breakfast despite the booking saying breakfast was included so we would recommend to clarify that beforehand. The restaurant has ample vegetarian options and although we only ate breakfast at the restaurant it seemed like a great option for lunch and dinner. We went to bed early as we weren’t feeling well and the hostel was a bit noisy until about midnight. After that it was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend.

Dali Ancient City
Would recommend Hosting Friendly and smiley. Took up bags without asking. Answer questions over wechat. Even the other guests were friendly! Usually Chinese visitors don't really speak to me (which is fine of course), but the girls I shared a room with even asked me to dinner with them and shared food Location The pictures they have down for the exterior, it's actually to the left of that. walking distance to the ancient village and chongsheng temple. easy trips to the lake. Amenities Fridge, washing machine, hair dryer, shoe dryer, toiletries, kitchen area etc. all included. There's like a communal courtyard area as well and I believe you can eat there too but you need to book it the day before by a certain time. Bathroom Sit down toilet. Shower. Toiletries. Looks a bit shabby at first glance but the shower toilet and sink are all working and very clean Room Lovely thick mattress (I've found they are usually quite thin in Chinese hostels so this was a nice surprise). Heater if needed. I'm not entirely sure how the lock on the door is supposed to be done. Overall great atmosphere. The pictures look a little bit rough around the edges but its honestly fine and i think I could stay here a while

Tiger Leaping Gorge
Had a very good stay at Tina's! We hiked the gorge in 2 days and Tina helped us beforehand with questions and logistics. Also arranged for our luggage to be brought there so we didn't have to take that with us! Very good food and reasonably prices. The views are amazing and the rooms are modern clean and big. Would stay again! Make sure to add Tina on wechat so you can get some information from her if you need to.

Xishuangbanna Passenger Station
The place is located in the city center and few minutes from the Xinshuangbanna Railway Station i pay ¥30 thru taxi from raiIway to Hostel. I stayed in Dormitory Room and i booked it via Trip.Com. Actually this is my first time to travel in China and i don't have any idea so luckily this hostel is recommended by Trip.com In checking in ,since the owner can't speak english so there is a little bit problem but one of the guest translated what I'm talking and finally i get into the room. (+)I got my spot in lower deck bed which i always prefer if im in dormitory. Curtain in the bed is a plus. It is comfortable and each bed has personal light, fan and plug. (-) No toiletries and towel- according to one of traveller from China , mostly in China Hostel they didn't provide, must have your own unless staying in Pricy Hotel. (+) kitchen which can cook your own food , with the mate i shared in the expense and they cooked different tasty food (+) Price of room is affordable , if im nit mistaken it is cheaper in China app like ¥28+ per night. (+) near in night market food street shopping stalls clinics and bus stations and even in main road Overall 4/5 !
Kunming A Little Problem Youth Hostel

Nanping Pedestrian Street
The location is very good, close to the main attractions and there are a lot of restaurants and convenience stores around. The receptionist is very nice and it seems he puts a lot of effort to keep the place tidy. The room was clean, with a great view, it was very cold there is a little heater (no AC) that you can use but doesn't do much, you are given a pair slide each (no towel given). There are 2 bathrooms for the whole place, 1 man and 1 woman. The squatting toilet, sink and shower are all in the bathroom, there is no toilet paper in the bathroom so you have to buy your own. The bathroom unfortunately is quite dirty, I have seen blood, poop and pee all over the toilet, also it gets blocked quite easily, I myself had to unblocked a couple of times before I could use it. There is very little sound insulation so you can hear people talking and singing in the reception sometimes even until 1am or going to the toilet, so make sure to take earplugs with you. There is no kitchen or fridge but there are 2 washing machines that you can use for 2 RMB. Free water in the reception, sometimes is not available but gets refilled regularly.

Gaozhuang/Starlight Night Market
We loved this guesthouse! We wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately they were fully booked. So the room was great, we actually booked one of the smaller double rooms, but after seeing inside one of the duplex rooms when we come again next time we will book one of those instead cause they looked gorgeous! The location is perfect especially for the night market which is only very short walk away. This could be an issue though if you like an early night and are a light sleeper as the night market goes on rather late. In terms of amenities, the main thing I liked was the swimming pool, it was refreshing and certainly not as cold as I expected. I spent several happy hours in there. There is no restaurant on site, but you are surrounded by lots of restaurants and the owner kindly pointed us in the direction of one of the great ones. The best thing about this place though is the service. It’s a family run guesthouse and they all, from the grandparents to the owners to the little baby, really make you feel welcome! Just book! You won’t be disappointed!
瑞麗鹿十七青年旅舍

Safe, independent building in residential areas, electronic door locks, safe and easy to enter and exit. Second, the upper and lower bunks of the room need to be small, quadruple room, but it is convenient to bring your own bathroom. I am in the off-season, basically all live alone, so cool. Stayed for four nights. Third, the service is thoughtful, what to play, what to eat, how to travel, and answer in detail. Fourth, there are many public areas, the second floor can cook, the third floor can drink ☕ District, the top floor drying area. Finally, I wish the young Lu Seventeen Youth Hostel, the better and better! ! !
