I recently spent two nights at this accommodation, and while there were not many foreigners around, I still found it to be a decent experience.
Upon arrival, I received a coupon, which was a nice touch, but I found that the minimum spending requirement made it less useful for solo travelers like myself. I had requested a bottom bunk but ended up with a top one, and I found the bed to be quite hard. However, the provided curtains added a nice level of privacy.
On the plus side, they offer lockers, towels, and slippers, which is convenient. The bathroom, however, could use a bit more attention as it needed cleaning, and I noticed that the shower had a leak.
Overall, considering the price, I can't really complain too much. The staff at the front desk were friendly and spoke English, which made communication easy. Just a heads-up: there are two flights of stairs, and you'll need to walk through the restaurant/bar area to access the lift to the rooms.
All in all, it’s a budget-friendly option that meets basic needs!

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The environment was great, both from the staff and the guests. Really made me, the only foreigner, feel comfortable among them. Also very close to the best value noodles place I have yet found in SE Asia, and to the Ancient Town, and provided a good value bike rental (very solid bike). Riding it along the ancient train itinerary was her highlight of my Jianshui visit.
Highly recommend 👌

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming hostel in the female dorm. While the dorm room didn’t have AC, it was comfortable and well-maintained. The shared bathroom was clean, featuring a typical wet room setup. The owners were incredibly nice and helpful, always ready to assist, and their excellent English made communication a breeze. It's great to know that the family lives on-site, adding a warm, homey feel to the place.
One convenient feature is the washing machine available for a small fee, although I opted not to use it during my stay. Breakfast is offered, but remember to place your order the night before to ensure you get what you want!
The location is quite handy, being close to the city center. Just a heads up, crossing the busy road can be a bit tricky, so take care. There are plenty of western food options nearby, which is a nice bonus if you're craving something familiar.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming place to stay.

The hostel was great, with a pleasant atmosphere and occasionally some foreign travelers. There were evenings with live music and chill areas, which made it really nice.
Small downside: I had issues with them twice — once they offered me a coffee as an apology, but overall it was a good experience.

It was nice, new, and clean. As far as I could tell, the staff couldn't really speak English, but they were nice and helpful. The other guests were also very friendly, so somebody would always help you out if you needed it. It's in a good location for the big ancient town area. The only drawback is how far away this area is from Dali train station. But for everything else it's a pretty good location.

I arrived at the youth hostel at around 9pm. I booked it immediately after seeing the room. The room was clean and comfortable, well ventilated, and both the room and the bathroom had windows. The bedding was also clean, and the room was quite large. There was a large platform on the top floor, which was very comfortable to sit and enjoy the breeze at night. I will stay at this youth hostel again next time I go to Jianshui. The boss was also very nice. I didn't eat after arriving, so he recommended Lao Er BBQ nearby. I couldn't find it on the map, but it was delicious!

The hostel is really good value and located not far from the square that has lots of locals dancing every evening. It’s quiet and if you like hiking, there’s a trail up the mountains just beside the entrance.
The living room is very cozy and the boss and staff are very sociable, kind and has lots of good recommendations. There’s a homey atmosphere where you can hang out with the other guests and watch movies on a big projector. There’s also a traditional fireplace that is always burning when it’s the cold season (though can be smoky). But I loved hanging out there. There’s also outdoor seating areas to chill out.
Laundry washing is available and cheap. The bed is nice and comfy and I’ve slept well there. Bathroom is clean. There’s also a western style toilet outside in the common area.
Overall I highly recommend this place and would definitely be staying here again if I come back!

A great hostel. The boss is very friendly and works very hard to keep the place clean and help guests with any issues they might have. The atmosphere is great and welcoming, I met many other traveller's there, and some evenings there is a shared barbecue!

The place is fairly new so it was comfortable, but there wasn't really anywhere to put your luggage, the lockers didn't lock, and we weren't given key cards. The place was safe because the area is safe, but having amenities that worked would have been nice. It's a laid back place though. Even though there was plenty of space in the common areas, I didn't really feel there was a fun/inviting atmosphere, but maybe that's just because I'm not Chinese, who knows.

GGuest UserI stayed for two nights here in a four bed women dormitory. It is simple and you have all the services that you need : a kitchen, a washing machine, little food shops at the building's entrance and it's not far from the railway station.
Also, hosts are wonderful !! They prepared a meal in the evening. We visited town together : they brought me to Kunming lake, street snacks, food market in the morning and a nice park. All that for free !! I highly recommend this homestay. Simple, not expensive and warm up. 😊🙌

GGuest UserIt's very good, next to the police station, very safe, you can go up the hillside to see the lotus pond when you go out of the crossroads, it's very comfortable to walk, it's also very close to the ancient city, there are direct buses from the train station
BB未I arrived here late at night and left in the early morning, just on a railway stopover, and everything was just very good, check-in was easy and friendly and I had everything I needed. I could have my dinner on the calm rooftop terrance. Would stay again. The location is great!

CCate_02The location of the hostel is perfect and the view is unreal! The staff is helpful and kind. The only thing that gave me problems is the thin mattress, a little uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth the price.
GGuest UserThis hotel is near at the Kunming airport,as a foreigner who is not used to go around and first timer, this hotel staff and owner is so friendly and help a lot to make things easier for you, from the lobby up to the room the hygienic ambiance is always present! Will surely recommend this hotel to my friends and family and foreign friends who wants to visit Kunming and have stop over here at Kunming!

GGuest UserStaff are nice, beds are good. The hostel was clean. I saw the dorms before they were cleaned (some of the guests should consider travelling with their mum) and after - the staff put the effort in to clean.
Problem is that the hostel is far from anywhere and a 75m uphill walk. No problem to do once or twice. Had to do it 4 times in one day. They claim there is a shuttle but it has no markings that would help you know it belongs to the hostel and I heard it only goes once per hour. I only managed to get it once when I was with another Chinese tourist.
The dorms have an issue. One toilet and shower for 8 people. Also the toilet and shower do not lock. So you have to check through the crack in the door whether there is someone sitting on the toilet. Weird. The dorm was also hot. The aircon wasn't running so they left the door open the whole time including overnight. The front door doesn't have a lock so there isn't much security. Yes, you have a locker but it's so small. It's only suitable for local travellers with a small backpack
So I can't recommend this for international travellers.
GGuest UserThis wonderful little hostel is run out of a local family's home. The owner, Shiqi is a passionate traveler herself and loves to show visitors around her city. She personally took me to several interesting areas and hole in the wall restaurants to try local specialties, and helped me with every part of my trip from planning day trips to buying bus tickets.
The hostel is centrally located. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms are extremely clean and well equipped - toiletries, mosquito repellent, earplugs are all available for free. The roof is accessible and has a beautiful view of the city. Shiqi and her family grow tomatoes and tropical fruits up there and were very happy to share!
I had a great time in Ruili thanks to Shiqi and her family's hospitality and kindness. Making dumplings on the roof with her and other travelers is one of my favorite memories of traveling in China. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the area, particularly solo travelers - you will come away with a great impression of Ruili and new friends.
