Homestays in Vila Real District, Portugal

Beautiful elegant period accommodation with antique furniture, surrounded by well manicured garden. We had fantastic views of the river and vineyards from the balcony ( room 6A) , The ”casa” is immaculately clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the spacious tiled bathroom with a walk-in shower was looking amazing. The owner Manuel was incredibly helpful and welcoming. He gave us a lift to the train station early in the morning, because of the national strike disruption and also prepared pack breakfast for us. A welcoming glass of port on our arrival also was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend Casa de Sao Domingos to anyone.

Beautiful location. If you stay there is a complimentary tour of the wine making facilities. We had dinner at the restaurant which was packed... Food was above average but our medium t-bone was more of a medium well done. Swimming pool was cool and relaxing as it over looked the river. Suggest a minimum stay of 2 nights so that you can explore the town, river walk and vineyard walk.

Extremely convenient location right in the center of the city. Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. And the AIMA was just a block away! Host was responsive and friendly. The property is lovely, very much like a family guest house with a common area including a full kitchen and a beautiful outdoor patio. My room was spacious and clean.

Dreamy hotel and park. Friendly staff and very well maintained. Breakfast was good as well. It’s a wonderful experience to stay there for a few days. Interior of the regular cabin could be improved design-wise but it’s not really a negative. 5/5 stars 👍👍

Great stay, beautiful locations, food options limited would have been nice to have a choice each evening vs one set meal.

Although Trip.com is called hotel, it is actually called casa, which is more like a high-end homestay. casa is located at a higher point, with a total of 3 rooms, each with its own name. The owner upgraded the fig room, which can directly see the Douro Valley from the window, with a first-class view. Although the Trip.com introduction wrote the 1.35 meter double bed, it is actually similar to the domestic 1.5 meter bed. Although the room is not big, the facilities are complete and the natural lighting bathroom is great. The casa service is very humane, the manual check-in time is 16:00-17:00, William is responsive and smiles brightly. Dinner is available and needs to be booked 1 day in advance. The ham platter we booked is 70 euros. The wineries are located in the village by the river below casa, about 40 minutes walk, you can ask the hotel to help book and leg it. The wines sold at the estate are slightly cheaper than in the city, and the year port wine is worth buying! (casa presented a small bottle of 30-year port wine, honey-flavored, very nice)

They should have better promotions, giving the choice of a room facing the pool or the main building. Breakfast should include fresh orange juice.

Enorm genoten van ons verblijf. Het is een heerlijk hotel met goede kamers en waanzinnige uitzichten. Wel belangrijk is dat het dus niet mogelijk is om daar avond te eten. Dit staat echter duidelijk aangegeven. Wat niet duidelijk is aangegeven is dat er een gezamelijke keuken is waar je je avondeten zelf kan koken! Dit was heel erg prettig aangezien je hierdoor ook in het hotel kan blijven. Al met al heel erg genoten en wie weet kom ik nog een keertje terug.
