Homestays in Mie Prefecture, Japan

This is an established, somewhat older hotel (not ancient). It's quite large, and you can still see remnants of its 80s and 90s glory days, like the bowling alley. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a lovely view. Both dinner and breakfast were delightful. The hotel also has its own hot spring bathhouse, with indoor, outdoor, and garden-style rotenburo options. It's very close to Kashikojima Station, and there's a shuttle bus service available. Nearby, there's a small fishing village and harbor you can explore, and even take a boat ride. This is a great place to relax, unwind, and get closer to nature. Plus, it's easily accessible by direct train from Nagoya and Osaka.

Upon arriving at Toba Station a little past 6 PM, we couldn't locate the hotel shuttle bus as advised by the guide. Decided to call the hotel just to try our luck, and to our surprise, they immediately dispatched a private car to pick us up! Service was absolutely impeccable! 💯 The hotel's absolute standout feature has to be its hot springs! ♨️ Especially the unique Pearl Onsen – the only one in Japan infused with Mikimoto pearl powder. My skin felt incredibly soft and glowed after soaking. (A glass of milk after the onsen is a must – incredibly refreshing! *Personally, I prefer the fruit-flavored one.) Room Experience: We booked the most basic Japanese-style room (washitsu) and truly enjoyed the authentic experience of sleeping on traditional tatami mats. Upon check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to find a welcome cheesecake 🍰 waiting for us in the fridge – absolutely delicious! All toiletries were exclusively Mikimoto branded, adding a definite touch of luxury and quality. (We even bought a set from the hotel shop before leaving – eligible for tax-free shopping!) 🥣 Breakfast was a classic Japanese set meal, served individually with no menu choices. The highlight, however, was the dining environment – private rooms! *Be bold and request a window-side private room. ❤️ Enjoying a refined breakfast in such a private setting, while gazing at the serene ocean view outside, was an incredibly soothing and delightful experience.

We arrived early on the day of check-in and waited briefly in the lobby before being escorted to our room around 3:00. We were given a large twin room with tatami mats. While the furniture was a bit worn, it was very clean. The air conditioner was a Daikin brand and looked brand new. The staff, though not very numerous, were very helpful. Breakfast was a Japanese set menu delivered to the room. Kashikojima Station is less than a ten-minute walk away, and the hotel offers a morning shuttle service. Kashikojima gradually becomes quiet around 5:00 or 6:00, and restaurants and convenience stores at the station close by 6:00. We didn't book dinner at the hotel, so we took the train two stops later to eat.

Booked this as a side trip from Osaka to escape the city and have some quiet time. Set in a tiny village in the middle of a mountainous & forested area alongside a beautiful river with tons of waterfalls, very picturesque and perfect for walking around. The hotel itself is immaculate with great amenities including large bathing areas. Food was incredible and service was top-notch with staff that were always friendly, helpful and eager to please. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Japanese-style onsen hotel in a tranquil setting.

Mie Prefecture is a relatively remote and rural place, but Toba, Ise and Shima are still worth visiting. Todaya Hotel exceeded my expectations. I thought it was just an ordinary local Japanese-style hotel, but it turned out to be very large, with two buildings, a large public bath, an open-air bath, and several free private baths for families. There are quite a few medals at the front desk. The room size is not large among Japanese-style rooms, but it is more spacious than ordinary modern rooms. Western-style beds are also more comfortable. The dinner was quite rich, with both Japanese and Western flavors, and the freshly roasted beef was delicious. Breakfast is on the top floor of the South Building, facing the sea, with a great view. There are also many dining options. Mikimoto Pearl Island and Toba Aquarium are nearby. When you check in, you will see the last name or first name of each room occupant on the welcome board at the hotel entrance. It is quite interesting to find your own name.

Silver scale is a magical cuisine homestay. I have been tangling whether to write his evaluation. I am afraid that there will be too many tourists behind, and now there are Japanese guests. Basically no foreign tourists. This famous hotel knows that it is a cuisine-based homestay. The room is very traditional Japanese style, and there are seven rooms in the homestay. Although the equipment is not new, it is very clean. The mattress on the tatami is particularly good to sleep, and the quilt is also very warm. There is also an outdoor bathing pool in the homestay, and there is also a bathtub in the room to take a bath. Everything is needed, the homestay includes breakfast and dinner (not including drinks). We stayed for two dinners and basically did not repeat. Every meal has surprises. Let alone the taste is very good, the freshness of the ingredients is enough to cover all the deliciousness. Especially his roasted salmon head. That seasoning is really a must, delicious, sashimi, carbon grilled shell snails, crayfish, abalone, delicious taste, with iced beer, or today's sake 🍶, it is simply an enjoyable gout meal, really a big enjoyment. After eating, go for a soup. After soaking back to the room, the mattress was also laid. You can sleep beautifully. The boss is 81 years old. It is a enthusiastic boss with a silver hair. I am also willing to communicate with the guests very enthusiastically. The proprietress does not speak English, so you can use more hands and feet to talk to the proprietress. It is very interesting. The silver scale food, the silver scale boss, the waiters, are all worth everyone to meet, accept their service, humane 😊

I am a girl and I took the bus from Nagoya with my child. Except that it took 7 or 8 minutes to get to the hotel by taking a detour according to Google Maps because I was not familiar with the road when I got off the bus (because I brought a 28-inch + 15-inch suitcase, there were many ups and downs along the way, and it was still quite dangerous and laborious to walk on the road. I suggest that the business put up a guide sign near the get-off point, so that it is safer and faster to take the small road to the hotel), everything else was perfect: the room was super big! The sleep was very comfortable! The hotel is very close to the ski area (the bus station is actually here). The waiter introduced us to a safe and fast route (less than 3 minutes). In addition, the hotel also provides cable car tickets for the ski resort, which is very considerate. I will bring my child here next time!

Awesome hotel. Japanese room(Tatami) is simple,clean and convenient. There are many facilities in a hotel;-onsen,spa, ,bakery cafe,Japanese &Italian restaurant.

The beds are comfortable and give you a good night's sleep. Breakfast is recommended for both atmosphere and taste. I think it is a good hotel overall.
