You get what you pay for, which is not much. Upon arriving, there is no sign that says 'Luyao Inn'. The sign is in Chinese characters. We were dragging our suitcases up and down the alley when the host finally came out. The room was on the second floor (4 flight of stairs) and there are no elevators. We had 4 suitcases and we did not receive help getting those up. The room was small, as indicated in the description. You get two bottles of water, toothbrushes and shower gel, shampoo and a small roll of toilet paper. None of those were replaced. We ran out of water and toilet paper and had to get our own. The host was barely around for us to ask. In any case, those are things that are usually replenished on a daily basis, without needing to ask. There is a kettle. No slippers. The shower and the toilet are in the same unit, therefore everything gets wet when you shower. You get shower slippers that have been used by others and do not look the best. The wall paper is also coming off the walls. The curtain was broken. The bedding had a weird sweat smell. The host was polite but does not speak English. You can communicate with them on wechat. The location is convenient, very close to the cableway station to Tianmen mountain. On our way out, there was someone else working, he helped us with our suitcases. To conclude, one can make do with the the space but do not go in with a lot of expectations (especially if you are used to Chinese hotels that give great service and hospitality).

She gave good recommendations and assist us finding car back to railway station. She even gave hair pin and snack for us to have on the early morning train. The room has some stains on the wall but everything else was clean. It was cozy with all necessary amenities. I wish I can rate more than 5 stars on service.

This place is great. The girls at the front desk were nice and always in touch. They spoke English to me when I checked in, which is rare 🫶 I only stayed here for three nights, but if I had the time I would have stayed longer. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was so nice that they upgraded me to a bigger room with a great view of the river. If I ever find myself in this city again, I will definitely stay here. Это место великолепно. Stayed here for 3 nights for easy access. It is abt 4 mins to the east entrance. Baidu somehow put at an erroneous 10mins for some reason. There is a stretch of food close by. And also quite abit of other things to eat nearby. There are also a few foot spas in the area, which is really good for those with aching feet after a few days of walking. Do not patronise the nearest one to this location. Not really good and they will try to hard sell stuff. Room is clean and the aircon can change to hot. No lift in the building. Laundry available right outside the room. Shower is a hassle though. It goes from hot to cold and cold to hot. I tried for 3 days and it still defeats me. Overall a good stay for the price.

This was the most friendly place we ever stayed. The accommodation is great, clean and great atmosphere. The owner can't be more kind, friendly and helpful.She attended to all our requests promptly. She helped us so much that we couldn't be thankful enough. She helped with booking the tickets for the experiences around, and she guided us to get to the different places. If you are planning to visit Tianmen Mountain, the hotel is 5min walk to the entrance. If you are planning to go to the Zhangjiajie National park, you can take a bus 5 min away from the hotel and it cost only 13¥, it is about £1.5, or 1.8€ and it takes about 30min, and you will have a very vivid experience with the locals. Around the hotel, there are plenty of restaurants, street vendors and grocery stores. We stayed 6 nights, and we had a lovely time.

Conveniently located 200m to Wulingyuan car/van station. There is a bus stop infront of the inn which can bring you to the east gate or 东门at ZhangJiaJie National Park for CNY2. Inn provided daily tangerine, washing machine for laundry and also daily breakfast with noodle served upon order by 2 friendly cook which comes with 1 egg, mantou, soya bean drink at the 5th floor rooftop via elevator with wonderful mountain view. It was great energy boost before starting the hike at the Park. 小袁 is patient to demonstrate how to operate the tv, advised the route to take at the Park and gave discount for purchase of grand canyon ticket which also saved time to queue at the ticket booth. 小宋 is helpful to book didi using her account to the Park as my alipay cannot be loaded and gave suggestion how to plan my program. 小卢immediately jumped to the rescue when he saw that I was running late by giving me a ride with my luggage on his own bike to the car/van station. Thank you for the great service and making my stay so enjoyable!

Hotel is nice, clean and room is comfortable. Room is big! Beside each bed has electrical power point and light switch! Me and my friends enjoyed ourselves so much. Photos are the same as real -life. Staffs are friendly and approachable. They are also very attentive to us! Breakfast is nice too! They helped to receive my Taobao goods 🤭 They provided fruits and snacks! Hotel is about 10 - 15 mins walk to 武陵源and魅力湘西. Nearby hotel has quite a number of food places, no need worry. There is also a laundry place. Even though the room is at level 2 facing the road, it is not noisy at all. Will definitely recommend anyone for this hotel.

For the price we paid the Chun Pu room, it is not quite worth it. The cleanliness is not good, when we checked in, we noticed urine stains on the toilet bowl seat. I complained to thr boss and he wiped and clean with cloth without doing sanitiser. Then only I requested for sanitiser then he got it for me and I sanitised the toilet seat myself. Thr location of the hotel is good with good river view. The lady staff also nice to pick us from train station. That is a plus point.

I am glad I did because this Minsu has the best view in whole of Furong Town! Many people make the mistake of wanting to stay right and close by the waterfall but the beauty of Furong Town is the wide landscape view of its ancient grounds and gorgeous waterfalls. As such, a view from a certain distance will be the most ideal and the most perfect. We simply love this accommodation! This Minsu is located by the entrance of the Furong Ancient Town. As you start your exploration into the town, you will be taken along multiple paths that will eventually lead you to the waterfall, as you walk through the trail and enjoy the waterfalls. Continue down and hike up into the cliff side steps until you see signages that point towards an exit. You will see some structures that is half built- walk up and then walk straight out and a left turn and you find yourself right back at the Minsu! The location is simply brillant ! We stayed in the 2 bedder suite and had such a wonderful time in the room enjoying the comfortable beds and the great view, we found ourselves lounging indoors most of the time only venturing for a bit outside when the weather was cooler. We will definitely recommend anyone to come and stay in this Minsu. Be sure to also have your dinner there , the food is good and views even better! You will not regret! The Minsu provides to and fro from the railway station , please add them in WeChat and arrange! They are very friendly !

I choose this hotel to spend my birthday. Very nice room. Very nice view from the window to the cablecars. The room is big, quiet and bed is comfortable. The host didn’t speak english but met me and was kind. Location is ok but ask to help you to find the exit. The cableway is near 5-7 minutes. Cross the road near Hilton. Thank you for the nice time.

Stayed one night and highly recommend. Hotel came and picked us up from the railway station and dropped us back. Booked the panorama room which had good views. Hotel is not overlooking “the waterfall” but has a nice view of the water and town before the waterfall. Got beers from the fridge next door and sat on the balcony and watched the town at night. Location is within the town and need to pay to enter the scenic town but staff will help. Staff speak English and via Wechat and happy to help! Highly recommend this hotel and thank you for looking after us. We got breakfast at their restaurant, steamed buns and soup and was the best tasting breakfast so far! Thank you

The homestay was booked on the high-speed rail, and a master came to pick me up as soon as I got out of the station. The room I stayed in was very new, and the window had a river view. Although it was facing the street, it was quiet. The breakfast was simple and suitable for me. It is worth mentioning that some people in the ancient city will take pictures for you without your consent when you take pictures, and then ask you if you need any service. Such behavior seriously affects the interest of the tour. The person holding the camera and hanging the iPad in the picture is the person I mentioned who takes pictures.

Pros- Great location by the river, beautiful and close walking distance to the food shops, famous bridges and the red lady singing on the boat (5-10mins). Clean warm room. Bit of scuff marks and stuff on the walls and wooden furnitures but overall charming, nice and modern and no like stinky smells from the river/mosquitoes/cigarettes etc. Warm showers and has all the standard amenities (hairdryer, soap shampoo, shaver etc). The manager is super friendly and hospitable even though she doesn’t speak English she really tries her best to help. Cons- noisy bars and karaoke until 11pm, tour groups in the morning start like at 7am below the balcony (maybe one or two when I was there 2 days) and 9am construction work starts. The free tour is sadly in Chinese only, and the free outfit doesn’t include photos or makeup, it is about 199 yuan for that but if you don’t want photos or makeup it’s free. Don’t think they wash the outfits super often either. Laundry is apparently not a proper one and you have to hand wash. No lifts if you have a lot of luggage.

Our stay here was good. The girl at reception is very kind and always wants to help, and even gave us a lift to the train station when we left, but you need to ask in advance. The hotel is right next to the scenic area of Furong. Our balcony and room were beautiful- but our mosquito net was broken so the room got very damp. Also there was some mould on the curtain in the bathroom and the chair on the balcony. The breakfast was free and very nice, although the kitchen it is cooked in looks a bit unclean which put me off. There was free snacks but no free water which we have experienced everywhere else in China. It looks beautiful at night. I wish it was cleaner.

Service was great, picking up from the railway station and dropping us there after checkout. I forgot to return the room card and they were friendly and attentive to pick it themselves at the railway station. Thanks

We stayed at the deluxe 2 bedrooms. It faces the river and near the bridge where most visitors would cross to come into the ancient town. The room was very nice and we sat at the balcony to enjoy the boats cruising the river, the night lights and the people in miao costumes posing for the photographers. The owner agreed to arrange a pickup for us from the train station and was waiting at the road curb to assist in carrying our bags, us being senior citizens. As there is a leg massage parlour on the ground floor, we were given a discount. Furthermore, she dressed us up in the costumes free of charge and we had a fun time taking pictures around the ancient town. The owner also explained to us with a map on how to and where to go in the ancient town in the day time and night time for different experiences and also where to eat. Also, the hotel is away from the pubs and cafes with lots of singing. No doubt, you can still hear the singing but it is far enough not to disturb you. Anyway, the singing stops at 11.30pm. The owner was always cheerful and ready to assist us in all manner including getting us a taxi to the train station.

The place is clean and spacious, well-equipped, with a large, comfortable bed, good linens, and nice pillows. However, the main downside was the lack of communication. The host didn’t greet us, and we didn’t receive any basic information about our stay, not even the breakfast time. We had to ask about everything ourselves, including transfer information. Throughout our stay, we felt totally confused. This isn’t our first time traveling in China, and even though we don’t speak Chinese and many hosts don’t speak English, communication has never been a problem before. Everyone except this host was very proactive. So, we were a bit disappointed because the homestay itself was actually quite nice.

The staff were super helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. Whether I needed recommendations or had a random request, they were always happy to help. The service was excellent, and the rooms were clean and comfy—just what I needed after a day out. You can really tell they care about their guests. Overall, Hetianwan Inn is a great place to stay. I’d definitely recommend it and will be back for sure!

Walkable distance to zjj west railway station. Eatery is available nearby and there's a provision shop/convenient store just downstairs. Booked here so to purchase railway ticket and to head over early morning to catch the train. Not near to tian and men (天安门), but convenient to Didi over about RMB 27 one-way when went over.

The location of the B&B is very good, the parking lot is right next to it, and it is also close to the attractions. The room is bright, clean and sanitary. The owner is very enthusiastic and answered all questions. He also helped us with travel guides to avoid pitfalls. It is worth recommending!

Beautiful guesthouse next to the river with an amazing view from the balcony. Rooms was well decorated, clean and cozy with a beautiful balcony. You don't have much space in the room in case you travel with big luggage. The owner is very friendly and helpful. When we were there Didi didn't work so taxi or bus is your choice. Especially going to the trainstation is helpful to plan that ahead. Would go there again.

The hotel is very near the attractions and there are lots of restaurant nearby. The owner is helpful in giving tips on how to go around however there was a misunderstanding when we arrived. We paid her RMB for the entrance tickets to the attraction, then she changed us pickup fee from train station (which should be free base). I also requested to transfer to 3rd floor for the view but she didnot inform us prior that we have to pay additional fee. Maybe bacause she was in a hurry with other guest coming that she was not able to breakdown the amount she collected from us. We did not argued or questioned her on that day because we do not want to ruin our trip. The following day, her husband said he does not know why we were charged with pickup fee so to make it up, he arranged our dropoff to railway for free instead. They also gave tea pack as gift. Overall, we still enjoyed our trip.

We had a big room with a very big bed. The bathroom was big with a self-flushing toilet and toilet seat warmer! One wall of the room was just glass so we had a good view out, over some old roofs and windows, and a far view of lovely builidings on a hill. We had a long and narrow balcony with a view of the river, pagoda and bridges. Right below was the bustling street scene near the Hong Qiaio (Rainbow Bridge). The balcony has a couple of hanging bubble seats and even a small table and chairs. Just perfect for viewing the amazing night scenery and people-watch. (Based on an earlier review, we knew the noise stopped at 11.30pm so we had good nights' sleep). We were very comfortable and happy with our room. It was just a short walk from the shops outside the Ancient Town, so we could enjoy both sides of Feng Huang. The entrance to the hostel is hidden behind a costume rental shop, so it's a little tricky to find. The hostel also has a water dispenser for filling up water bottles. All I can say is the location is just the best for watching the comings and goings in the streets, with easy access for walking along the riverside, pagoda, bridges, viewing the performances on the river...yet near enough to pop into our comfy room to recharge.

Perfect hotel in fenghuang, you get the best view! There is an elevator inside (until 4th floor), so you don't have to be tired of going up by stairs. The cleanliness level is perfect, even the balcony floor is very clean. We are very satisfied with this hotel! We get the rooms at 4th floor

We spent a wonderful night at the hotel. We arrived in the evening and the girl working at the front desk kindly helped carry my bags up the stairs. She offered cold drinks while checking us in, showed us the room, and introduced us to the attractions and gave us restaurant recommendations. She helped us find a taxi when we left (Didi service was unavailable.) She was really kind and helped us a lot. The hotel is located at the bend of the river. From the balcony, we could take in the beautiful night scenes. All the main attractions are just a few steps away. We happened to arrive the night before the mid-autumn day and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday atmosphere. We were happy to spend a night in Fenghuang Ancient City and stayed at this local hotel. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Fenghuang.

I went there alone and booked a room on short notice. It was close to the downstream and the balcony had a river view. The price was favorable, so I booked it immediately. The store owner was also very friendly and picked me up at the intersection. The room was clean and beautiful. Highly recommended.
