Homestays in Hunan, China

I’m writing a review as a traveller from the UK, and the room was VERY expensive for what you got. BUT you aren’t paying for the room you’re paying for the view! Which was SPECTACULAR! See pics, these are from the window of the room. The room was okay for one night (all you really need in furong town) and the hotel did provide a pick up and drop back service from their local high speed rail station (it felt dodgy when going from the car park to the room but was okay). Traveller tip: YOU NEED TO PAY FOR ENTRY TO THE TOWN. When entering the town you have to pay a fee as it’s a scenic area of China, this is unavoidable and the hotel fine print does mention you have to pay this. All in all, you can enjoy an amazing view at this hotel, but I feel that for the price, you can stay elsewhere in this town and get the same experience for cheaper.

Service: was really good. The receptionist lady gave us a lot of helpful information and was constantly available. I was really grateful for the service. Our rooms were cleaned daily, we got fresh water and towels. She also helped us get a ride to the train station, as there are limited drivers in this area (plan your departure ahead of time). Room: the room has an amazing view. We enjoyed the balcony so much that we spent a lot of time there just taking in the scenery and enjoying ourselves. At night it looked even better. We visited during peak season (international workers holiday) and still the room was relatively quiet at night. Everything was exceptionally clean. The rain shower was appreciated as well. We also got vanity kits and so on. The bathroom is a little small for people over 190 cm (you should be fine if you are shorter). The bed was comfortable and big. The only thing we missed was a Minibar (or fridge). The TV unfortunately wasn't a smart TV. Location: the hotel is located in the central city. You won't miss a thing. There are restaurants nearby and all sorts of scenic spots. If you go outside, turn left and walk until the end of the street you'll even find a shop offering coffee ☕ (which is quite rare).

Hotel is old and due a renovation, yes price and location is good but I was very disappointed with the room, windows facing stairs where people frequently walk, your only options are to have 0 sunlight or have strangers stare in your room. Since there’s no separate bathroom (all in 1 room) there’s not even a secure place to change. Looks a lot better in pictures than reality. But, for 300 yuan honestly it’s okay. Very lovely and helpful staff!

Trying to find the hotel was the slightly difficult part unless you know what to look for, but they do have a big poster on the entrance at street level. The apartment was lovely and light. The reception staff were very helpful and also helped us buy tickets for Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park. Very good location close to local shops. Do bring ear plugs though as during morning you can hear the traffic below. Would still recommend them. Good view from the room. Catch a didi to the intersection of the Jiefang Road and Yingbin Road. About 2-3 mins walk from there to building entrance. Floor 17A.

We cannot understate how wonderful of an experience we had at this hotel. To begin with, the hotel staff generously granted us an upgrade to a full suite. The room that we were given was practically spotless and well laid-out; on top of this, the room was stationed right next to the street - we had only to walk out the door to get into the action, yet we experienced no noise issues. Throughout our stay, we did not experience any major inconveniences whatsoever - the room was comfortable, cozy, and a relief to be in after a long day of scaling hundreds, if not thousands of steps. Overall, while the hotel room was comfortable and pleasant, it was the incredible restaurant that accompanied it that elevated the stay. The quaint garden and decked out restaurant facilities providing a wonderful and stunning view of the main attraction in the town (the waterfall) made it truly worth it. The Hunan-style cuisine and noodle breakfasts they served up were incredibly tasty - and yet, just a step out of a door. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly to any tourist visiting Furongzhen.

Excellent hotel in every sense. The people at the reception are very friendly. They provided a very detailed summary of the key sights which should be visited and suggested an itinerary for Fenghuang ancient town. They also helped carry my luggage up to the room during check in, and to the taxi when we left. The hotel is very well located in the old town, directly adjacent to the rivers edge in the scenic area. The room was great. Two rooms, 2 king sized beds with new mattress and bright while quilts. The room was newly renovated with nice ceramic tiling and a large walk in shower. I highly recommend this hotel.

If you are looking for a mountain vibe, peaceful, away from city and homey experience, this is the hotel for you! The mountain view is unbeatable and it’s so majestic. We have nothing but compliments about our room which can even house 3pax, having a bathtub and sauna to sooth our muscle after a day out were refreshing for us. Another highlight is how delicious the restaurant food is and we couldn’t resist eating the same dish (香芋扣肉) for 3 meals in a row. I am so glad to have booked one more night with this homestay just so that we can chill around the hotel with a tea ceremony with 毛管家 before heading out for our train ride home. Don’t be deterred by its mountainous location, it is only 5min away from the ZJJ forest park attraction entrance and the whole experience be it hardware or software with the homestay are so worth it! Ended my ZJJ tour on such a high note! Me and my parents (both in 70s) love it so much!

Fenghuang ancient city is a amazing, nice place. However, taking taxi is a bad experience. If your group is more than 2 persons, recommend to taking city bus directly without delay. The hotel staff met us at the bus station and fetch us to hotel. Location was very convenient as it's near to the Hongqiao Bridge. Our room for 4 persons is small as we have 4 large luggages and not much walkway. The room was comfortable, and had a fantastic balcony with amazing view.

Furong Wenxi Lanyue Homestay Nuestra estancia en el Furong Wenxi Lanyue Homestay fue excelente. Desde el primer momento nos sentimos bien acogidos, y todo en el hotel superó nuestras expectativas. Las habitaciones eran amplias, muy limpias con vistas directas a la pequeña cascada, que le daba un encanto especial y una sensación de tranquilidad total. El personal fue, sin duda, lo mejor del alojamiento. Siempre atentos y dispuestos a ayudar, nos asistieron con todo: desde traslados hasta la gestión de billetes de tren, facilitándonos muchísimo el viaje. Recomendaríamos este hotel al 100%. Es una opción perfecta para quienes buscan comodidad, belleza natural y un servicio cálido y eficiente en Furong.

It’s an excellent location just next to the magnetic train station 浮池站，three stops from the high speed train station. Very close walk to the attraction area along the river. We have a big family room with free excellent breakfast. The front desk service is excellent with very good service and free self serve laundry and detergent. Free pick up or send off either way and receive a free gift when leaving. I highly recommend this place.
