The environment is very good. In the beautiful garden, it is not convenient to just carry a suitcase down a steep slope. Fortunately, a big Japanese brother came to help with the luggage. The shower water in the room is too flush and not concentrated, the lighting switch position design is not good, and it is not convenient to turn off the lights at night. The old people in charge were very nice. The air conditioner sounded a lot to help fix it. Last night, the power was cut off and I helped bring my luggage to another hotel. Thank you very much!

First stop in Hakone! We stayed at Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan. It is right there when you get off the mountain bus ”Horaien”. It is very convenient. Check-in is not until 3 o'clock. We arrived early and stored our luggage first. We went to the nearby Okada Museum of Art (8 minutes walk). If you want to visit carefully, you need to stay at least 2 hours. Then we took the bus to the Open-Air Museum (10 minutes by bus). The wind was really strong that day, but we walked around for more than an hour. After we came back, we waited in the hut next to us when we checked in. We were served a cup of tea and a fruit. Someone would take us to the room later and introduce the hotel facilities. The three standard yukatas in the room are S, M and L sizes. Please make sure they fit. The whole hotel is very cold. There is no central air conditioning. The room is heated by the warm air. It is also very cold to walk along the corridor inside the hotel to the large bath and restaurant. We stayed in the hotel for too long. I booked a one-night stay with two meals. The specialty beer, I don't remember what it is called, you can try it, but don't have too high expectations. I think it is just average. I always think Kyoto's beer is delicious. The hotel's hot spring has one indoor pool and one outdoor pool. They are not big. It is a bit crowded for three people. But the water is very clean.
There is an hour of free drinks in the cabin at check-in from 9pm to 10pm, including red wine, white wine, whiskey, white wine, orange juice and apple juice. There is also a 24-hour coffee machine.
In general, this hotel is worth recommending. It is cost-effective and the service attitude is also good. There is a guy who can speak Chinese.
We stayed here with our family of seven on March 29th and 30th. On Saturday the 29th, it rained heavily so we couldn't do any sightseeing, but we were able to relax at the spa next to the hotel.
We stayed in rooms on the second and first floors, and from the second floor rooms you can see the ocean right in front of you, so the view is amazing. From the first floor, you can't see the ocean very well, so the view isn't so great. If you're staying there, I recommend a room above the second floor.
When we made a reservation for dinner, the staff member told us that the early hours were fully booked and we had to start from 8:00, but the person in charge explained to us that ”we have small children, so we've booked an early hour starting from 5:30,” which was very helpful. We had three small children, so we were very impressed with their amazing service.
The next day, the weather was good, and we took a walk on the promenade around the hotel in the morning. The sea breeze was pleasant and the surrounding scenery was beautiful, making us want to come back again.
There are still not many foreign tourists, and it's close to Tokyo, so I think it's a hidden gem of a tourist spot.
I was on a business trip to Japan and stayed 16 night at the Hotel and I had an excellent experience during the entire stay at the Metropolitan Kawasaki Hotel. The location of the hotel is very convenient and the service provided by the front desk staff and the room was very clean and comfy. I can highly recommend this Hotel to any business traveler to Japan.
Booked 2 rooms for family of 5. Got upgraded during check-in, what a pleasant surprise. Location was fantastic, with minatomirai line train being next door. Parked our car at pier, about 5mins of walking. Close to red brick warehouse .
Will definitely stay again if we’re in town.
This is the second time I stayed here. The sea view room is really comfortable. Although there are some historical traces in the room, you can see Mount Fuji in the morning. When the tram passes by, it really looks like a scene from a Japanese drama. There is also a golf course driving range in front of the hotel. It was fun to practice in the morning. No one smoked, no loud noises, and no mobile phones were played. 👍 It takes about 9 minutes to walk to the station. It is still very convenient. The scenery along the tram is also very good. There are also many places to eat nearby.
The hotel is in a very good location, just beside the odawara train station and mall. The hotel breakfast was decent and the room is slightly bigger compared to other hotel rooms we stay in. Overall would recommend!
The hotel is conveniently located to Kamakura station, approximately 5mins walk. There's a familymart just beside the hotel and a supermarket opposite. The hotel interior is very clean and minimalist. There's a muji cafe and store at level 1. Overall, we were satisfied with the stay.
AMAZING HOTEL. Love the hotel-ryokan fusion vibes ❤️❤️
2 beds + 1 sofa that's big enough to serve as a bed.
They also have kid's amenities set that includes toothbrush, room slippers and a hankerchief.
Staff's english was really good here so no worried
The location is super convenient, ~5mins walk from Kamakura station and komachi-dori. Will definitely choose to stay here again if we head over.
This Ryokan is a bit secluded. Do email them if you need a free shuttle van service coming from the Yugawara train station (van service started after 2pm). Their is service is outstanding from the moment you arrived at the hotel. The room is huge and lovely. The open air bath area offered a nice scenic view during the day. The night view of the moon and stars while soaking in the bath is even more stunning. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious. The service staff was very professional and tried their best to explain the different courses of food with their limited English. Highly recommended for people to experience their first Ryokan stay.

1. Free breakfast
2. Breakfast had lots of bread variety
3. Free drink machine (soft drinks & coffee w matcha latte!)
4. Have free amenities for you to take
5. Location is near station and lots of shops surrounding too
Neutral:
- 2x washing machine & dryer but because of their popularity, have to fight for a chance to use them
Bad
- can be quite confusing to get to if you don’t go from station but the surrounding shops
KKSAwesome Ryokan with pristine service. Hot spring was great too, albeit one was abit too hot. Rebecca was an awesome attendant where she made sure we enjoyed our meals and stay.
The only letdown would be the location as there is a slope to get up to the Ryokan which is quite dangerous. One note is that it is hard to get taxi to yama no Chaya where they may reject to drive passenger there.
The view is also a bit disappointing.
But all in all, an awesome stay!
SSharondrnsMy son and I book this hotel because we went for a nearby concert at the K ARENA, it's only a good 10 mins walk from where we were, there are alot of 7 Eleven around , starbucks and the Queens 1 & 2 is a 30 mins walk to find more restaurants and Mark Is Mall. The hotel is lovely , we had a great place to rest before we could check in strictly at 3pm . Friendly service and we enjoyed the morning breakfast . The rooms are spacious and I love the toiletries. I would highly recommend this place with breakfast .
AAlfredHotel was literally 2 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Check in was easy. Room was clean. Public bathe was nice. Some parts of the hotel was under maintenance while we were there.
The breakfast was pretty good as well. They've got western food items, eastern items and japanese items.
TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.
MMA1Beautiful and clean hotel. Love the amenities, they even provide face mask. There are convenience stores nearby, so we had had food despite arriving almost midnight. Hotel provides shuttle to the nearest train station. Great location for those arriving late/departing early to/from haneda airport. Hotel is now lmown are Warehouse Hotel. Although room is quite small, but love the separate shower room.
GGuest UserI was stayed at 26th floor. I didn't realize I could see the Mount Fuji from my room. I was very exciting. Besides, I was very satisfied in the bath tub. The size was very decent for me. In addition, there was a 7-11 downstairs, which was very convenient. I will stay there again or recommend to my friends.
FFionaIt was snowing when we were there. The condominium block was not as ideal as we had to head over to the main building for the restaurant, onsen, snack bars. The snow made the walk slippery and it was very cold. Other than that little inconvenience, everything else was delightful. Parking is sheltered, room was big and comfortable, free drinks and snacks, good dinner and breakfast, kid-friendly, relaxing onsen.
GGuest UserVery good hot spring experience. Although the hotel is a bit remote, the bus goes directly from Gora Station. If you go early, you can book a shuttle bus to pick you up at Gora Station. There are two buses at 2:45 pm and 3:45 pm. You can also be sent directly to Gora Station on the return trip the next day. The service staff is very good and introduced the facilities in the house very considerately. There are hot springs both indoors and outdoors. There are several hot spring pools outdoors. There are not many people, so basically one person can have one pool, which also avoids embarrassment. Breakfast and dinner are quite rich, and the experience of one night and two meals is very good😆
CChristine TsoiThough not in the busiest tourist areas, the location of this hotel is at the heart of Kamakura with shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel design is very stylish and new. The hotel does not have a carpark or drop off areas, therefore it can get a little inconvenient if you are going by your own car. The staff gave information about the closest overnight parking which is very helpful because parking in Kamakura is very expensive. For the room, it was quite disappointing. Though I already know about the room size and that the facilities is limited (no TV), when I actually entered the room, I find the lighting is insufficient as well. There was only a very dim ceiling light in the room, I had to turn on the mirror light and bring over the table light to the nightstand side to have slightly better lighting. The amenties were to be collected at the lobby so it was okay. However, the room only provides kettle and 2 bottles of water, there was no tea bag or coffee whatsoever. About the bathroom: the towels were placed inside a wire basket which is placed directly on the floor, and that makes me feel very concerned for its hygiene. There is a restaurant/bar and shop on the lobby floor. While I enjoyed the shop very much, I think it would be nice if the staff could introduces us to what the restaurant/bar offers (to supplement for the lack of tea bags / coffee in the room). Generally speaking, it gives me a feeling that the hotel is a budget hotel branded as a boutique hotel. At this price, there are far better choices in Kamakura.
