This is one of the best ryokan I have ever stayed in. Firstly, the location is right next to Gora Station, less than five minutes walk, which makes a big difference if you've come from, say, Tokyo to Hakone. Additionally, the rooms were comfortable and the private baths/balcony feature available for all rooms is lovely. The Double Western room we stayed in had the best of both worlds with the traditional Japanese bath and a comfortable bed (while futon are fine, we preferred a bed). Finally, the samue monk work clothes the hotel lends you to wear as sleepwear is so comfortable, my only complaint is that there are none available for purchase. Also, the hot spring bath facilities were great. We only used the shared not public ones, but they were clean, beautifully designed, and well ventilated (which is important for not getting overheated). Travellers take note: a lot of restaurants in the area close after 7pm, and the dinner set is on the pricier side, so best to plan your dinner accordingly. The restaurants we did try (notably an udon/soba place) was very good. And the nearby shuttle to Pola Art Museum/13 min from Hakone Open Air Art Museum make this a good hotel for art-lovers. The staff are friendly and helpful too.
Good location. On the ”outskirts” of the Minatomirai area but the cable cars were just outside that could take you over there easy. Links to skybridge to get you around the Minatomirai area was also right there. If you want to explore ”old town”, to the other side was the older town and so really gave you the best of both worlds

Nice place, helpful staff, gave us the opportunity to enjoy onsen late night when we arrived. Room was spacious, with all necessary staff for short stay, only downside was a bit of a sewer smell in the room.

Ten-yu at Hakone Kowakien is a luxurious escape nestled in nature. The private onsen in every room, featuring Shigaraki-yaki bathtubs, is pure bliss. The infinity onsen on the 6th floor offers breathtaking views, especially at sunset. We loved the teppanyaki dinner at the historic Guest House, a true culinary experience. The serene valley garden is perfect for a relaxing stroll. The staff was attentive and the overall atmosphere was incredibly tranquil. Highly recommend for a rejuvenating getaway! Don't miss the delicious sashimi and crab for breakfast!

Nice stay . We booked traditional Japanese room, and slept on futon beds. Pillows were uncomfortable though . Our room fee included dinner and breakfast which was very nice. Dinner was tad too cold for our taste ( too many cold dishes) and breakfast was too “fishy”. Although all food was fresh and the service was impeccable. Hotel also has its own onsen , and pretty Japanese garden .
The hotel is conveniently located near a subway station. Takes approximately 10 minutes walk. One of their team members can speak English fluently during the check in. The staff is very helpful. The room is well decorated and clean. All rooms situated on high levels. Decently sized room.
Nice staff. Nice environment. The hotel provides daily cleaning and front desk services with a lot of other self services. Guests are mainly Japanese locals. There’s a terrance and a mini pantry on the top floor of the building for the guests to use 24hrs a day.

This ryokan is simply too lively! It's a pity we were there a bit too early coz the garden will be so beautiful in full bloom! The staff are friendly and nice!
Service is superb! But when come to value for money, their sister hotel Tenyu is of better and greatest value with a slight higher price but worth it. However they are totally different type of ambience and feel. For ryokan experience, this is no doubt better choice

Very thoughtful hotel. Enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets that came with half board. However they serve the same thing everyday but it was ok for me. Will stay again if going to Hakone.

OOhbrainsNot the easiest place to find, nestle between the river and the mountain we had the most amazing experience. Friendly staff that speaks English with the most amazing breakfast and dinner. Not the cheapest hotel but you are paying for the experience and I would definitely recommend you try this hotel out. Our room had its own private hot spring and we were more then impressed with the level of detail and service that the owner(s) put into running of this inn / hotel.
BBolanghaoxiaoxiannvThe hot spring hotel is very beautiful, and it feels very old when you walk inside. The public areas are carefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are private hot springs that can be booked, and there are not many people in the public hot springs. You can directly book a hot spring before breakfast. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. There is a young lady who speaks super fluent English. Communication is barrier-free, and every dish is very clear. The only drawback is that the location of the hotel is not very convenient if you don't have a private car. You need to call to pick up the station. If you don't have a mobile phone number, you can contact by email, but you can't guarantee timely contact... If you drop off at the check-out time, you can only be sent to Sheguye to take the bus, but there are not many buses, and they are not very punctual, so you may have to wait for a long time. Except for the inconvenient transportation, other experiences are great!
DdillonchewwxGreat hotel. Feels very new and clean. Staff were great, and facilities were tiptop. Super value for money. Rooms were great too. Will recommend.
Only downside was that it was a distance away from the train station, both Yokohama and Sakuragicho.
AAlfredHotel was literally 2 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Check in was easy. Room was clean. Public bathe was nice. Some parts of the hotel was under maintenance while we were there.
The breakfast was pretty good as well. They've got western food items, eastern items and japanese items.
SShibaA great place to relax and a stop to travel for Mount Fuji Five Lakes. As we travel by rent vehicle, it is another isolating place from urban to feel the beauty of nature. The outdoor hot spring is the best corner of the hotel. Meanwhile, the Japanese breakfast is definitely one of the best in our 6 days trip.
LLeoGomez90Completely Wonderful, also I drove so parking was head ache free. Impressed with the amenities, and the entire facility. Will DEFINITELY book again.
GGuest UserI was stayed at 26th floor. I didn't realize I could see the Mount Fuji from my room. I was very exciting. Besides, I was very satisfied in the bath tub. The size was very decent for me. In addition, there was a 7-11 downstairs, which was very convenient. I will stay there again or recommend to my friends.
GGuest UserI love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we
started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road.
FFangLiangIt's a very convenient location, about a 20-minute walk from JR Kawasaki Station.
I made a reservation with breakfast included, but they said they weren't serving breakfast at the moment. There's a convenience store in front of the hotel, so it's not a problem.
Also, there is no one at the front desk between 9:00 and 13:00, so you cannot leave your luggage during this time.
