Location is on main road, away from market. Food is good. Amenities are v good. Service is excellent. Hot stone bath at the property is excellent. Staff is courteous, good n v polite. Overall we had a fantastic stay at the hotel.
The positive thing, the location is very nice, right at the riverside.
Now the negative… for starters, staff at the reception, especially those boys, needs more training on how to handle guest requests. Their attitude is not helpful, borderline rude sometimes. One staff tells you something and a minute later you hear exactly the contradictory thing from another staff. Very confusing and frustrating. Don’t expect 5 star service here …
Let’s move on to the amenities. The rooms are simple and clean, but very outdated, the floor queaks and you clearly hear footsteps from above.
Then there is the spa… first of all, you need to inform them 20-30 mins before you want to use the sauna in order for the staff to turn it on. Then the steam room had really dirty floor which a kinda of unknown black gluey thing sticking to your feet, kinda disgusting. When I told the spa staff about it, then they just ignored it.
Finally, the food in the one and only restaurant, last recipe, was „underwhelming“, if you want it said in a polite way. The pizza dough was still raw when it was served to us.
I wouldn’t stay in this hotel again but I guess this is your only choice if you want a safe option besides Aman or Six Senses.
Location - excellent food - average. The food needs variety and taste. Service- varies. Poor- any minor change from the menu served, they levy extra charge. Good- room service is prompt. Hygiene - the towels are not very fresh and bathroom does not smell very fresh, maybe due to poor ventilation in the bathroom. Amenities: the resort needs to keep a luggage weighing scale for international travellers. The property has been an orchard and farm house. Morning walks are good within the resort.
Zhiwaling Heritage is the property in Bhutan to be wholly Bhutanese owned and operated. We are also the only property in Bhutan to be certified as one of the unique lodges by National geographic. From our exterior adorned with intricately carved woodwork and traditional stone work, to our interior embellished with hand-painted murals and traditionally hand carved Bhutanese motifs, our hotel pays homage to the ‘Dzongs’ or fortresses of Bhutan, showcasing the country’s rich and unique architectural heritage. Zhiwaling seamlessly blends our traditional roots with modern comforts. The hotel is equipped with Swedish technology underfloor heating and electric golf carts to whisk guests’ luggage to the rooms located in the eight cottages, named after each of the ‘Eight Lucky Signs’. Each sign or symbol represents a specific aspect of Buddhist teachings and is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to those who encounter them.
Nestled in an idyllic setting, our hotel offered a personal balcony that opened up to breathtaking views of the serene countryside. Evening strolls through the charming paro market were just a short walk away, adding a touch of local culture to our stay. The hotel is exclusively vegetarian, but with numerous nearby restaurants, non-vegetarians will find plenty of options to savor. Our overall experience was truly wonderful, a perfect blend of comfort and beauty.

GGuest UserStayed here for 3 nights. Room was clean, good mattress, coffee facilities and a gym which was huge and very well equipped. The restaurant staff were exceptional and even made me special dishes that they thought I might like. Food was usually a set meal, driven by the tastes of the majority of guests, so there was Indian food for at least 2 nights. I have to mention however that the huge issue at this hotel is the *&*&#(*& barking dogs. While it's a feature of most hotels in Bhutan especially around Paro, this place has at least 2 dogs that live next door and they yap constantly all night. Bring earplugs, I'm so glad I did. If I didn't have earplugs I would have given it 2 stars.
HHaleoNice place, very friendly staff. Simple hotel with a pleasant peaceful area. If you want to get outside the hotel there is basically nothing and you're not too close to any town area, that's the only downside. You need a taxi to all towns, treks and the airport

AAnonymous UserThe boys and girls here are very kind, quiet and hygienic. The hotel also provides mosquito repellent. It is the same as the Punaca Hotel, and Punaca has air conditioning. Everyone must have a tipping habit, their wages are very low, drivers and guides sometimes need to find their own place to live and eat.
