"Located in the heart of the old city, the Shihe Hotel occupies a vast area with an extravagantly large parking lot. Staying here feels like stepping back into the 1990s municipal government guesthouse; a plaque at the entrance even reads ”Shihe Hotel Militia Company,” though I forgot to take a picture, which gives you an idea of the hotel's former prestige. Although it's a three-star hotel, it lives up to its reputation as a long-established hotel. The location is excellent, and the facilities are still complete, though a bit dated. However, the price-performance ratio is quite high; the room rate is reasonable, and parking is convenient and free. It would be even better if breakfast were included. Next door, there's a large sports field open to the public, where many people run, play ball, and exercise. The nearby Shihe Park is also very lively, making it very convenient for sightseeing in Xinyang."

Traveling with a child, the hotel not only provided kids' slippers and toothbrushes but also a small slide, which our child loved and didn't want to leave. The room was spacious, and the separate wet and dry areas were a thoughtful touch. "Traveling with a pet, this place was perfect. The hotel environment is lovely, and the room was spacious – my cat absolutely loved it and felt very relaxed. The room was well-equipped, clean, and hygienic. The TV's screen mirroring was convenient, and the tea area was very roomy. There's a pedestrian street nearby, making dining very easy, and a large supermarket for all your needs. It was an excellent pet-friendly stay.
P.S. My cat developed a peculiar fondness for the sink, constantly intrigued by the sound of the draining water."

"The room was excellent and clean. We particularly enjoyed the great breakfast and excellent afternoon tea, not to mention the welcome fruit. The surroundings were lovely, and the service was good overall.
However, the WiFi was terrible; it kept disconnecting and eventually stopped working altogether.
When I tried to call for children's slippers at 10:30 PM, no one answered the phone.
The elevators had no fan or air conditioning.
Exiting the parking lot was inconvenient as we had to call the front desk to be let out, a detail we weren't informed of during check-in. This is definitely an area for improvement."

"The staff is very pleasant and listening. I had not enough soap and the hosts gave me more immediately (small single dose bag). I even had a problem with my fan late in the evening and she was very reactive and resolved the problem quickly. I was in a single room without window with a shared bathroom, but it was because the bathroom was shared with only one other person. The hotel is just next to a lot of restaurants which is easy to find food. I strongly recommend!"

Guest UserI chose this guesthouse based on reviews on Ctrip, and it turned out to be quite good.
The room was clean and tidy, the sheets and blankets were spotless, and the cleaning was thorough, making for a comfortable stay. All the facilities were complete.
The owner was very welcoming and carefully pointed out various things to note when visiting nearby attractions. He also told me where to find reasonably priced local food.
Finally, what really enhanced my impression was that you could rent the owner's electric scooter for 10 yuan. It was incredibly convenient for sightseeing, and the scooter was clearly a very good one (I highly recommend renting an electric scooter if you're going to Nanwan Lake; I've included photos of Nanwan Lake below).
In conclusion, I highly recommend it; it's great value for money.

A large shopping centre (Wanda Plaza) is next door with a huge array of Chinese franchised food outlets alongside KFC and Starbucks. A good spread of affordable to prestige clothing brands as well. Many empty shops, though, point to economic stresses in this market.
The breakfast is standard Chinese hotel fare so if you're expecting a range of gourmet cereals and breads you'll be disappointed.
Turning to the room itself.
No room clock and a huge television screen that turns on every time you put your key in the slot are minor annoyances. The television screen has no apparent access to audio-visual inputs which seems a wasted opportunity to me. I want to watch my own media on the television screen.
The room is a good size and quite quiet. The bed was firm but not hard. Blackout curtains work well and windows can be partially opened. I observed that any non-smoking regulation was not observed by all guests. Perhaps in the major markets that's more enforced.
There is no laundry service as far as I could tell.
The shower stall is my main concern and this might apply only to my room. The drain is VERY slow and the recess quickly fills with water. The floor is flat, so water does not naturally flow to the drain, leaving the shower recess always wet and a potential mould hazard.
No complaints from me about the lack of staff who speak English. This is a new hotel catering mainly to Chinese travellers. While I have some concerns about the standard of building construction finish I can't fault the staff for their attentiveness and friendliness. If the location suits you the value is obvious.
Note that guest rooms are on floors 18 and 19 so expect to spend some time waiting for the slow lift.

Guest UserThe room arranged for me at the front desk was the opposite of the room I asked for when I booked the room. Saying that you don't need to rely on the elevator to have a high floor room to be quiet, it is all the opposite. It is estimated that the business is good during the festival, so it is so hospitality. The room still has a smell, like the smell of the hotel box that has not been cleaned for a long time, smelling cough. Thinking about sleeping for one night, it will be fine. The soundproofing of the room is still poor. The TV sound lasts until 5 am. I don't know if it is next door or upstairs. I looked at it, and the room was set almost a month in advance, which was dozens of dollars cheaper than the price set by the room on the day of **. This is a photo of the room fan. The most satisfying thing is that the bath water is quite powerful for you, this is the only place that is most satisfied.

The young ladies at the front desk are particularly warm and meticulous, especially the short-haired young ladies are particularly warm and enthusiastic. The hotel is well-security, the 24-hour front desk is on duty, and the living alone is completely assured.
