Pro:
- cooked amazing vegetarian dinner and breakfasts (without dashi)
- stunning isolated location in the mountain (7 hours from tokyo)
- open baths are beautiful and open around the clock
- room was spacious and calm
Con
- you need to call them to plan your pickup. They don t really answer written messages online
- strong tobacco smell in the first shuttle bus but not for the return
It is a compact inn. We were able to relax on the sofa in the room with takeaway meals. The lounge at night had a great atmosphere. The bartender will help you choose a recommended drink. I ordered a local gin soda made from konnyaku yam. Breakfast was free and a light buffet. The bath is not large, so be careful only when it is crowded.
We used this hotel to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday.
We were impressed from the outside even before entering the inn.
It is clean and has a relaxing Japanese atmosphere.
It seemed like it took a long time to check in because they were busy, but the welcome drink soothed us.
The long corridor, electric cart, gondola, and stairs to get to the room on the 6th floor were tough for my 77-year-old mother, but by the time she went down to the bath, she was already enjoying it and said, ”You get used to it, but it doesn't bother me, but I'd get lost if I was alone.” She walked as if she was going for a walk.
Each dish was carefully prepared and the seasoning was just right, so my mother enjoyed it. They also accommodated the men's requests for rice, and the white rice was delicious!
The service of the person in charge of the meals was wonderful, and it didn't seem like a job, but their heartfelt service made the meal even more delicious and enjoyable.
They even prepared purple chanchanko for my mother's 77th birthday. I don't think I told them it was for her 77th birthday, but I think they noticed when I wrote ”Congratulations on your 77th birthday” on the cake message on the online ordering service and prepared it for me! What a thoughtful touch!
My siblings who went with us all said ”We want to come again!” and best of all, my mother was smiling and happy the whole time, so I'm really glad we chose Kawaba Onsen Yuurian.
Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful and memorable time.
Thank you so much.
[Location]
It's easy because there is a shuttle bus from Minakami Station.
【service】
He is very polite and looks at our customers.
(If you accidentally dropped the ingredients during the breakfast buffet, an employee at a distance told me ”I'm OK as it is.”)
[Cleanliness]
I thought the exterior was a bit rough (the exterior of the lobby was beautiful), but the interior was very beautiful. Surprisingly beautiful.
[Facilities and amenities]
・ You can drink coffee and apple juice freely in the lounge. (I drank apple juice but it was very delicious.)
-Take toilet paper in the room toilet
It is a bit disappointing that the rattling sound reverberates in the bedroom.
・ There is a fireplace beside the lobby and it looks like an Instagram.
[General]
The hotel itself was very beautiful and the service was good.
I would definitely stay here when I went over the water.
Location is good, easier accessible from the bus station and within 3 minutes walk from the Yubatake. But it is surrounded by construction and therefore the view is not attractive.
Service quality is good, staff are friendly, helpful and responsive.
Food quality overall is fine. Yet tradition Japanese cuisine would make the experience of an onsen vacation whole more than fusion cuisine.
Choice of onsen is limited versus the price level. Only 1 public bath is available. The 4 rental baths add more to the range of choice but they are quite quickly occupied.
The accommodation has a good atmosphere, the rooms are comfortable, the staff are lovely, there is a shuttle service to various stations, and the food is very delicious.
After completing the check-in procedures in the lobby, the waiter will bring a translation machine to introduce the hotel facilities, but the waiter who came to serve seemed a little impatient and in a hurry.
The room is big, clean, spacious and comfortable, with 1 bathroom and 2 toilets.
The large bath has an open-air hot spring, the locker room has a massage chair, and there is a water machine and popsicles outside the locker room, so you can enjoy it after taking a bath.
The breakfast and dinner buffets are average, but the Kaiseki cuisine is good. If you want to upgrade to Kaiseki cuisine, you need to email/call the hotel.
There are Yumomi and Taiko performances in the evening, and the audience can also participate in Yumomi.

TTeekhooTook JR express to Kusatsu. From train terminal take a 25 mins bus to Kusatsu bus terminal. There is a shuttle to bus terminal upon request. Take less than 3 mins to reach bus terminal. If walk, then you may take longer times.
I booked half boards. Dinner included. The dinner is super good. Free flow of rice, soup n side condiment. Breakfast was Okies. Takeaway coffee cups prepare for you.
I specially love the onsen. Robe n slippers had prepared in room for your usage.
Kusatsu is a place to have a short getaway from Tokyo.
XXINGQIThe traditional Japanese hot spring hotel has two open-air hot springs, a soup of Chicheng and a soup of rock mirrors. When you take a hot spring, you can see the opposite mountain view and beautiful scenery. Laoshen Hot Spring is at the entrance of the tail owl, and plans to go to the tail to hike early in the morning. The woman of the hotel will hear that I am going to go to the stern, and I will help me to contact me for the next day to go to the tail of the bus. I feel that the service attitude is really touched.
GGuest UserThe hotel is clean and the service is very good!
The environment is quiet and quiet, and it is a good place for vacation and leisure.
There are enough parking spaces for parking, and it is best to drive in and out, because other traffic is not convenient.
The breakfast food is diverse and delicious!

TTat IThe arrival was late at 5 o'clock, and the dinner time was designated late at 7:30 and was disappointed. However, the buffet meal was delicious. Indoor slippers are better disposable
GGuest UserWonderful room, service, and overall experience. The room was equipped with a gas heater that quickly warmed the room up despite the January cold. There were also cups, a tea pot, satchels of green tea, and an electric kettle to prepare tea in the room. The onsen bath was very hot and wonderful and the futon and pillows were comfortable. 5/5 experience!
GGuest UserThe owners were very genuine and kind. Although they could not speak English, they really made sure we had everything we needed. Very traditional Japanese ryokan experience. The place is a little old but super clean and cute. Beautiful mountainview from the room. Would really recommend! Arigato gozaimasu.
