Calista Organic Hotel

San Francisco Downtown
I stayed at Calista Organic Hotel for a weekend getaway in San Francisco. The hotel's eco-friendly focus was a major draw for me. The room was clean and well-appointed, with organic toiletries and a very comfortable bed. The location is great, close to many attractions and public transportation. The only downside was the limited on-site amenities, but overall, it was a pleasant stay

The entire hotel staff made me feel very welcomed to the property. I felt very much at home. Alec always goes out of his way to ensure I'm happy. The entire property has a terrific vibe, and it's definately a diverse crowd. All are welcome!
Sonder The Craftsman

Downtown Los Angeles
One of the best places you definitely want to stay when you visit Los Angeles is:SONDER THE CRAFTSMAN located in downtown LA. I’ve stayed several times as well as recommended, booked and reserved for clients and some other designers who work with me. Building : unmistakable with the Sonder logo at the front, you get access to the building with your individual code you received after your booking is approved, in most cases you also use the same access code to get into the elevator and in some cases the code is also what gives you access to your room/ suite. Staffs: A five star team.Denisse, Sophie, Rich, Erika and others are an incredible, very friendly and competent team. Especially Denisse.. she can go ahead and manage a 7 star hotel and make it look easy. Maintenance: Absolutely top. You complain, you get it fixed. Shoutout to Jairo and others. Security: Top,top top and they make you feel secured and welcomed. Hello to Demio and his team. Rooms/Suite: Spacious, clean, bright, powerful Wifi/ internet, full size kitchen, plus coffee and tea makers , TV with streaming availability. Couch is comfy and bed is absolutely comfortable and there’s washer and dryer. Housekeeping: Top Neighborhood: Safe, clean and walkable to most places like restaurants, theater and few minutes drive to most notable places. Parking: 3rd party paid parking is right behind the building but there are other nearby parking possibilities.
Kasa la Monarca San Francisco

San Francisco Downtown
We were excited to find an option in San Francisco with a shared kitchen so that we could prepare our own food while there. The self-check-in scenario didn't scare us off but perhaps it should have. What follows is a lot of problems, but overall, the experience at the Kasa La Monarca was not terrible. It just really did not meet reasonable expectations of a hotel. Think of this hotel as an expensive youth hostel with private bathrooms. Our experience began with getting an update less than 48 hours before arrival that the elevator was not in service. We called immediately and were moved down from the 6th to the 3rd floor, but would not have been able to cancel as it was within the 48 hour cancellation period. We were assured that no other services were impacted. When we arrived, we realized that our bed was downgraded from king to queen, but were still happy with the shared kitchen offering. Unfortunately, the next morning, we realized that the oven and stovetop was off during the day, due to the workers fixing the crumbling wall that was the cause of the elevator interruption. Our room did not seem to have HVAC at all, as it was hot during the afternoon and evening and then dropped to very cold temperatures at night. We asked for an additional cover the third night to deal with the cold. They could not provide the extra cover that night, as their staff was already offsite. The next day when we returned to the suite, there was no cover, so we texted and were told to go to the housekeeping closet with an entry code - to no avail as there was no cover there either. It was again too late for them to deliver a cover, so we were promised tomorrow again. The next day when we returned to the room there was a sheet in a bag left outside the room, not a cover. It was again too late for them to deliver a cover, so we were promised tomorrow a third time. The next day we relaxed for the morning, and before leaving in the afternoon, I went looking for a staff member to ask for a cover. We finally got an additional cover halfway through our stay. Given the style of hotel relations to guests, you would expect their communications to be exceptionally good. However, they often have significant mistakes. One was a message confirming our check in time for the WRONG hotel, forcing us to call them to confirm that we were not rebooked into a different hotel entirely. The APEC summit was held nearby in San Francisco. Despite all of the local businesses having been provided advance warning of potential impacts, Kasa did not think it would be important to provide their guests any information. The front door lock is finnicky and results in many guests stuck outside for a while when they first arrive, unless another guest happens to be in the lobby to help them. The pictures shown online have either been taken with lots of additional light or photoshopped - not sure this is much different from other hotels, though it is also misleading. Because of the common kitchen

I had to cancel and the hotel did not accept any attempt to negotiate a cancellation fee. I was fully charged even though I did notify this with anticipation. On the other hand, they can and will cancel your reservation without even notifying you in advance. I know this because they did that to me before. Sadly, my experience was not positive.
The Historic Broadlind Hotel at Long Beach Convention Center

WHAT WE LIKED · We stayed in the Gorgeous Penthouse on the top floor and it was beautiful. The photos are accurate other than the obvious fish eye that makes all rooms look larger than they are. We stayed here for CaliVibes festival. I'm a sucker for the historic, eccentric, unique properties with architectural details so this was right up my alley. The kitchen had beautiful tile though we didn't make any meals there - you could have made simple breakfast, lunch, etc. Mainly we used the fridge to store our late night snacks and bottled water. Basic coffee service, dishes, and utensils were provided. The old windows are so lovely and all of them open but you will get the noise from the lively bar downstairs. We had plans to drop in to the Blind Donkey but the music festival really had us beat at the end of each day. The codes for the door and the room worked well. The bed was adequate but not amazing like some hotels have. I had no issues but hubby didn't sleep as well. The bed is in a nook so you do have to kind of crawl into the bed and that was not ideal but once my head hit the pillow, I was out. The Broadlind is surrounded by cafes and restaurants and there was a grocery store just a block or two away. Very convenient location for any events at the convention center or Marina Green Park. WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE · Check-in time is quite late at 4pm. I messaged and called the contact number provided in the email from Broadlind to ask if we could pay for early check-in ($45) on the day we arrived and never received a response to my phone call or my text message. I was happy to pay the fee if it wasn't too late on our arrival day to do so through the ”contactless” system. I did not want to pay the fee and then not be able to check in because we didn't pay far enough in advance. I had read other reviews that mentioned issues when not allowing enough advance notice for the ”incidental deposit form” to be completed before arrival. We had already done that, no issues, but now wanted to add early check-in, and ultimately, did not because of the complete lack of response. Resort fee of $35/day but there are zero resort-style amenities such as pool, gym, cafe, restaurant, or bar. No ice machine or vending machine on site. No cleaning of the room so no restock of coffee service or towels for a multi-day stay. The sofa bed was a futon and super lumpy. Blankets and pillow were provided but no sheet to put down. We found an air mattress but discovered very quickly there was a hole in it. No response to text message or phone call asking for replacement. We debated finding a sporting goods store to buy our own but ended up just roughing it on the futon. There was staff on site but they are quite stand-offish and will ignore you or act like they don't understand what you are saying to avoid helping you. SUMMARY - I adored the property and the location but the excessive ”contactless” policy is a complete turn off. If everything was perfect with the property, an
Snow Lake Lodge

Great location. It’s very close to grocery stores, The Village, and attractions. We also went to The Barn Bowling Alley and Swim Beach/Ski Beach, and everything was close by. I was pleasantly surprised with the room. It’s very roomy and has a rustic modern feel. It was clean and we loved the full kitchen. Our family of four enjoyed our stay. We would definitely book here again. The pool was a perfect temp. We come to big bear every summer in August. We find most places don’t have AC. This place provided fans and we brought an extra from house. Each room also has a ceiling fan. The place cools down really quick. All the staff were so nice. I called ahead and asked for a first floor due to a recent knee injury. They were able to accommodate. The bathroom showers even had rails in the shower which was a bonus.
Mission Peak Lodge

We always go to Fremont in Bay area for our monthly company events and Mission Peak Lodge is always our go to place to stay whenever we come! The place is very affordable, very worth it for the price and the rooms are very spacious and equipped with all necessary stuff we need during our stay. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and location is very convenient and always safe. I always recommend this to my family and friends when visiting the Bay area!
Su Casa at Venice Beach

Venice Beach
Perfect location, right in the heart of the hustle and bustle on Venice Beach, so great for walking to Santa Monica or Marina Del Rey. Accommodation (2 bed cottage) - Nice enough. Though the hotel is opposite Phoenix House. This is a rehab centre for alcohol and drug abuse. I get it - everyone needs help! However, the upper floors can look directly in the cottage’s courtyard. And as soon as you walked out the gate, the entrance was opposite. As we were two guys, it wasn’t really a problem but probably not the nicest place to stay with your wife or family. Parking - No parking as advertised. The nearest parking was Venice Beach Parking. Couldn’t make out their pricing structure as it changed daily and was super expensive. However, we had a car, so had no choice but to pay.
Casa Jardin

Casa Jardin, thank you for a homey cozy stay. The location is located near the police station, City Hall, and within a residential area… but walkable (7-10 mins) to State Street. It’s a quiet area and safe. Parking was plenty. Check in was super easy even with no front desk, they were always reachable via text message or a phone call. The room is as it looks from the pictures and even though my room was at the bottom with a wall view, it was super comfortable & home away from home. Looking out the window was still relaxing. I love the modern simplicity decor, the linen bed sheets, the color palette of everything, the ceramic coffee mug that made coffee taste even good, the vegan toiletries, and they provided all these little essentials you may need. I love the nespresso machine!! I have an nespresso at home, but my stay motivated me to go ahead and buy the DeLonghi model…inspired by Casa Jardin. I even will go ahead and find black ceramic mugs as well as the public goods toiletries. Lol. I love staying in boutique hotels it just inspires me decorate my home like a boutique hotel lol. The bed was nice, tv was good with plenty of movies, ac/heating was on point. I feel like the hotel is recently remodeled, everything seems fresh and very clean. If you like quiet, modern simplicity, with a little luxury feel without breaking the bank, this is the place. I had a calming stay really!!
