"This was a very comfortable stay! It was perfect for a dinner party with friends, as it came equipped with a projector, dishes, and more. It was also super convenient, less than a 5-minute walk from the station exit and with a convenience store nearby! I'd love to stay here again!"

Great
EeiieThis was my first time staying in a B&B, and I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was. It had everything: a washing machine, fridge, and even a gas stove, though I didn't end up using them since I was traveling alone. Check-in was self-service; the host sent me the code, I opened the mailbox to get the key, and then could enter the main door – super convenient. Even though it's near the tram tracks, it wasn't that noisy once I closed the balcony door.

HhuohuohuohuoA fantastic Japanese-style guesthouse. The neighborhood is very quiet, and it's less than a 10-minute walk from the subway station. The room was impeccably clean, and with only one unit per floor accessed directly by elevator, it offered excellent privacy. The facilities were well-equipped, making it a perfect spot to experience Japanese culture. The host was wonderfully warm and attentive, and all the visual and written instructions provided were incredibly comprehensive. Highly recommended!

Eericachan888The location is quiet and close to two train stations, making it convenient for getting around. The staff are very responsible and respond quickly, even late at night. When we had a problem with the water heater in the early morning, they sent someone to fix it the next morning. The staff member in charge even spoke Chinese, which was very thoughtful and dedicated. There's a small balcony, which is great for drying clothes. If you like trains, you can also watch them pass by at the nearby station from the balcony.
Downsides: The location is a bit too secluded. In winter, it gets dark very early, and there are very few dim streetlights in the residential area. There are almost no pedestrians, so as a solo female traveler, I felt a bit scared and had to return to the guesthouse early. There are no restaurants downstairs; you have to walk to find them. The water heater was troublesome; it's a storage type, so you constantly have to check if the water level is low and manually boil water, otherwise, you won't have hot water for a shower (I discovered this when the temperature was around 1-2 degrees Celsius, but once the temperature rose, the water heater didn't take as long to heat up).
HHannah R CHotel were offering late checkouts to guests who left 5* reviews, so I feel that the reviews have been artificially inflated by people rating 5* so that they can get late checkout.
Location was quite far from the JR Namba station and even further from the metro Namba station.
The bed was really hard and uncomfortable.
Bathroom was tiny, kitchenette had a raised lip which was easy to trip over or stub your toes on. However, the size of the room was good, there was a good amount of space.
It would be ok to spend a night or two here but I think we were there 5 nights which wasn’t great with the uncomfortable bed.
When we checked in we were told a room number of an uncleaned room and had to ring out of hours to swap rooms, but that was all resolved quickly by the hotel.
Also to note, the keyboxes didn’t feel very safe/ secure because the codes followed a pattern (so if you knew one you’d know the other rooms), but we didn’t use the lockbox except for when we checked in so it didn’t affect us, but just something to consider.
Overall it was ok for a budget hotel but I think the reviews make it seem too good to be true!
ZZithounProjectJa Hotel Shinfukae: Review Summary
• Cleanliness: The property is exceptionally clean and well-maintained (”neat”), which is a major plus for any traveler.
• Location: Excellent proximity to the local metro station, making it very convenient for exploring Osaka's main districts like Namba or Umeda.
Important Logistics to Keep in Mind
There are two specific operational details that travelers should be prepared for:
• Check-in Time: Standard check-in starts at 4:00 PM. This is slightly later than some traditional hotels, so plan your arrival accordingly if you have heavy luggage.
• Digital Check-in: The process is entirely online. Make sure you have a charged smartphone and internet access (or the check-in details saved offline) before you arrive at the property.
Pro-Tips for Shinfukae
1. Early Arrival: Since the check-in is digital and at 4:00 PM, check if the hotel offers a luggage drop-off area. If not, the nearby metro station likely has coin lockers where you can store your bags while you grab a bite nearby.
2. The Local Area: Shinfukae is a more residential, quiet part of Osaka. It’s a great place to experience a ”local” vibe away from the neon lights of Dotonbori, with some authentic izakayas tucked away in the side streets.
3. Transit: From Shinfukae Station (Sennichimae Line), you are only a few stops away from Tsuruhashi, which is famous for its vibrant Korean market and incredible yakiniku (BBQ).

Very Good
GGuest UserThe location is quite convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the subway station. The hygiene is good, and the price is relatively affordable. Although the bathroom is small, it still has a bathtub, which is a nice touch. The self-check-in process at the unmanned front desk is generally convenient, and there are replacement toiletries provided at the entrance for guests staying multiple nights. If you're looking for good value for money, this is a solid option.

Very Good
GGuest UserI liked our stay and honestly location wise, it was close to where i needed to be. So for sure, we will be coming back. One thing tho, picking up and dropping off the room key was a little confusing since there is no one attending. But instructions were clear to follow.
CchiyulI am really satisfied with this room. It's spacious and can accomodate more than 4-6 people except a small toilet. It's good for budget. Elevator card is designated so that others can not stop my floor and has no security problem.
It takes 7 minutes from Shin-imamiya staion(JR) and 6 minutes from Ebyscho station. Mega DonKihote and Shinsekai takes 5-7 minutes by walking . I will stay again if I visit OSAKA.
PPanda79Nice place to stay for family and walking distance to Subway and only 1 stop away from Namba station. The room come with washing machine, cooking electric stove, microwave and toilet come with dryer for drying clothes. Will stay here again if visiting Osaka. Plus points nearby have supermarket within walking distance 10mins from hotel.
