Pricing was excellent. Location was close to National Museums, the beach, shopping districts, and more all within either 10 min walking distance to 5-10 min tuk-tuk ride. Cleanliness was overall very clean. However, in our first night at the smoking-allowed floor, we found two small termites on our bed. Rest of the night was completely fine and when we eventually moved to a non-smoking floor, we had no bug issues at all. Now the best highlights of Cinnamon Red were their service, hospitality, and facilities. With a small but quaint pool and deck on the top floor, we watched the beautiful Sri Lanka sunset. There's a decent gym there too. Breakfast was marvelous, that is if you don't mind having Sri Lankan style breakfast of spices, curries, and egg hoppers - ”western” options were plenty from poached eggs, bacons, sausages fruits, musseuli, yogurt, order-made omelets, waffles and pancakes, all accompanied by the famous Ceylon tea to die for. Lastly, I cannot praise enough the kindness, hospitality, and smiles from the staff. They were incredibly helpful and supportive to any and all of our requests. Do bring your own soap, shampoo, and conditioners and cameras because the way the hotel is designed, you get an unclustered, incredible view of Colombo from any room.

I’m absolutely thrilled with my choice of accommodation in Colombo! The location is perfect—situated in a comfortable and safe area with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. It’s also very close to the city center, making it super convenient. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist. The rooms are excellent, well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. And the rooftop pool is simply amazing!

Location of this hotel was excellent but unfortunately service lets it down. At the breakfast buffet the first day was excellent after that it was a steady decline. We had to ask for a cup of coffee numerous times from different waiters before getting one minus sugar, saucers & teaspoons. One morning one of the managers in yellow tie picked up our plates unfortunately I hadn’t finished & had to grab my good before the plate was taken. With room service one time we had no hand towels that was no big deal the next day they cleaned the room & left no towels they told us they would be back in 5 mins with towels one & a half hours later we had to ring reception to be told they would send someone up straight away, over 2 hours later we finally received our towels. In the cafe we sat at a table had to ask for menus waited over an hour & a half but no one took our order! Not to mention our room bell rang at 11:10pm & someone trying to open our door when we shouted out they said they were bringing us water!

Check in went smoothly, the rooms were comfortable, the shower good. It was noisy on Friday night from music somewhere outside the hotel. Normally, that wouldn’t bother me as the noise stopped not too late for a normal nights sleep but I had an early airport transfer so wanted an early night. There is a lovely view from the restaurant terrace of the Lotus Tower. I liked the hotel, the location and all the staff were very helpful.

My friend and I travelled to Colombo in January from the UK. The hotel is large, modern, well appointed. Comfortable bedrooms, ample choice at breakfast (which can get busy). Our room had a Lakeside view, pretty enough, but it also overlooked the poolside bar/club which had loud music playing till the very early hours, rendering sleep a challenge. I would recommend checking this, before you book, or stay on the other side of the hotel. However, what soured our stay was that the day after we checked in at the hotel, we were victims of a scam. As we left the hotel to walk to the local temple in the morning (still jet lagged), a man claiming to be a hotel employee started a conversation with us. He claimed his name was Sangha Perera. He appeared to be helpful, giving us directions. As it was raining, he advised us that taking a tuk tuk around the main tourist attractions would be easier and cheaper. As he was connected to the hotel, we trusted him. He 'found' us a tuktuk, and even joined us acting as an unnoficial guide. Eventually he ended up taking us to an 'officially credited' government approved jewellery shop, which had 50% off,  he even told us a percentage of profits would be donated to tsunami orphans. We were pressurised by the shop management (all men) into purchasing items.  After that the tuktuk driver told us the ride for 2.5 hours would cost equivalent of £100 in rupees, and things got very heated until we paid up. We reported the matter to the Jeevani Perera, Lobby Manager at Colombo Cinnamon Lakeside hotel. She told us the man did not work at the hotel, and an identical incident had happened previously. We also spoke to the hotel security officer, who said he would check hotel security videos. Later we even sent them photos of the man claiming to be an hotel employee and the tuktuk driver. We were disappointed to receive no response from them. BE WARNED if you stay at this hotel. Scammers are working around there, and the hotel seemingly turns a blind eye, without advising guests checking in! (SEE PHOTOS OF SCAMMERS ATTACHED). Am sure the same thing goes on outside other hotels too... We eventually went to the local police, who were helpful, and they went with us to get our money back from the jewellery shop (Lanka Sapphire Lapidary PVT Ltd., no 83 Dharmaphala Mawatha, Colombo 07), but it was not easy to do so. A salutary lesson.

The staff were very welcoming, even though we arrived before 2pm they made an effort to get our room ready quickly and let us check in early, which was very nice after an over night flight. Its easy to walk from the hotel to a number of restaurants, casinos, as well as to some of the popular attractions in the city. The restaurant in the hotel has a nice buffet, as well as a rooftop bar. The hotel was so nice that when we passed through Colombo when we were leaving Sri Lanka, we stayed there again.

Hotel is in nice location, close to Pettah market and Fort Railway station. The room was large and everything was clean and tidy. As with all the places I've stayed in Sri Lanka, the place feels very tired, and in need of maintenance and renovation. Would recommend for a 1-2 nights stay for exploring the city.

The room's condition did not meet the expected standards. The walls were in poor condition, and the shower door did not close properly, requiring me to hold it shut while showering. Additionally, the duvet cover was torn. As a five-star establishment, we anticipate a higher level of quality and were disappointed with the current state of the room.

This is the worst Shangri-La I have ever stayed in. The various room types are confusing. It is very unfriendly to guests who want to extend their stay. You cannot check in directly at the front desk. You must book online. Even if you book the same room type and price online, you will be forced to cancel and pay the cancellation fee before you can check in.

I liked this hotel from the photo. I booked it for 2 days due to its proximity to the airport, and they also offered a free transfer upon arrival. The room was spacious, hot water, white bed linen! They also have a wonderful pool where you can swim until late in the evening with beautiful lighting. I didn’t really like the breakfast (I took it separately for 1450 rupees) and their cuisine, it wasn’t tasty to me. And since the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, there are no cafes or shops around, this was a significant minus. But the very atmosphere of the hotel, the cozy garden and terrace with incredibly comfortable chairs and the complete absence of guests in the hotel captivated me, and I decided to extend my stay for another day. I'd love to go back to them someday!

The place was amazing, such a shame that when we wete there they had a massive renovation by the beach. We could not enjoy the seaside. It was a little bit disappointing.

The hotel is great, facing the lake to the east and the sea to the west. There is only a small road across it, so you can walk to the beach. The waiters in the hotel are relatively friendly. The number of rooms is limited and there are not too many tourists staying, so the waiters can take care of them. Very quiet and comfortable, a good choice for a quiet vacation.

The sanitation is OK, the quilt has a little smell, the bathroom should be renovated, it's OK, but not big. The wardrobe is relatively simple, the safe in each room is different, and some are not fixed to the wall. The room rate is high because it is close to the airport (4km), and you may not be able to get a taxi at night. The Uber driver will cancel the order and raise the price on the spot. Some hotel reservations include free airport pick-up/drop-off, which is good, and the car is relatively new. There is a third-party business car that can be rented with the driver, and the round-trip price is OK. The service is very good, 90% of the employees are very enthusiastic. The communication with the duty manager is also relatively smooth. There is a souvenir shop downstairs where you can buy recharge cards. The seafood noodles in the Chinese restaurant are not bad. It would be better if the sanitation could be better. The front desk is slow, but the overall service quality is good.

Hotel close to airport make it very convenient, however you need to use express lane to Colombo as it is slightly out of the city . You don’t have much choice for food as only two dining restaurant available but it offer a 24 hours room service make it a plus point . Complementary shuttle service for airport pick up is a bonus .

The pool is nice, the beach is nice and wide, and there are fishermen and boats with Sri Lankan characteristics in the morning in the distance. The hotel's prevention of mosquitoes was too bad. The children were bitten by more than 20 packets a night. Overall cost performance

The room was good and the service was good. But there is no free pick-up service. The hotel's Chinese and English name has errors. If you use ”this is the case” airport hotel and restaurant, but on Trip.com ”this is an airport hotel with free pick-up”, it is easy to mislead customers.

The flight was too late, so I booked a hotel on a whim to let the kids rest. In terms of hardware, it's a bit old and the room is small, but it's very thoughtful and they prepared bath balls. In terms of service, it's super good. Every staff member greeted us with a smile and was very enthusiastic. The view is super good and the food is also good. It's very suitable as a rest stop before landing at the airport or leaving.

I didn’t expected much, but hotel was so tidy and cozy. I liked it. Also they have free service to drop off to the airport which is perfect. Cuz i have early flight i think location is best for me

Clean comfortable hotel, relatively not expensive, It was a fantastic stay at the hotel and the Sunday lunch buffet was sumptuous. The rooms have been recently cleaned and the linen seems new. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is excellent. Many thanks for the service, the staff were very helpful.

This hotel is very close to the airport and is easy to find. It's neat and tidy for an over night stay when arriving or before flying out. We did not take the breakfast so can't comment on that. Check in and check out was hassle free and the workers helped with our bags even though it was so late. Sites to see on the way.

This place is very close to the airport, but the location and well-exquisite and in the middle of the mat and the even a medium, but I was well-served was only one night not feeling safe at the site but I was super well-welcome , they shoved me into the room with air the room I was clean and smelling, and the best sleeping well! Unfortunately I have no picture but very pleasant

No breakfast, clean indoors, simple decoration, concrete floor, cement wall, unclean beds, obviously no new sheets were covered with pillowcases, people with cleanliness noticed, the bed was big enough for a family to sleep, the yard could be parked, the hotel location was very biased It is the conversion of the farm house, it is very simple, in order to catch the plane, make a night

Stayed while waiting for a flight the next day as my original flight was cancelled due to the virus. The staff were very kind and let me use the room after checkout time due to the special situation. Loads of bugs at night because the room has many gaps and holes to the outside world and the hotel is surrounded by countryside. Did t use any amenities, but the pool looked nice. A good space and quiet area to relax
