Location: Great lakeside location with beautiful lake views from the higher floor rooms. Facilities: Well-equipped facilities. Cleanliness: The cleanliness was poor; there were even spiderwebs on the balcony. Service: The female staff I encountered were generally very good, enthusiastic, and attentive. However, two middle-aged male staff members (I forgot to ask their names) were overly 'sharp' in their service. They kept aggressively pushing the hotel's paid parking and refused to provide details about the public parking lot next door. It only took a young female staff member a couple of sentences to explain it clearly.

This has been the most satisfying hotel of my trip to Switzerland so far. Check-in, check-out, and breakfast were all handled at the Royal Plaza Hotel across the street. We arrived early, and the front desk immediately processed our check-in, saving us from waiting until 3 PM. We were given two rooms with excellent locations and orientations, practically the best rooms available, both with air conditioning, and one even had a balcony. I'd like to thank Trip.com for communicating with the hotel on our behalf. Based on our request, the hotel arranged air-conditioned rooms for us, which was a lifesaver as it's been scorching hot in Switzerland these past few days. The hotel itself is quite historic, having once hosted Mr. Charlie Chaplin. Despite its age, it doesn't feel old-fashioned at all. The rooms are clean, tidy, comfortable, and spacious. The Royal Plaza Hotel is a star-rated establishment situated by the lake, offering beautiful scenery. The hotel's pool and gym are available for free use. The only minor drawback was the limited breakfast selection. It was a simple Western breakfast, lacking items like vegetable salad, eggs, and pasta. However, the dried sliced bread and capsule coffee were quite good and stood out. The hotel entrance is right next to a bus stop, making it very convenient to get to the train station in just a few minutes, or about a fifteen-minute walk. To visit Chillon Castle, you also take the bus towards the train station; just hop on bus 201 from the hotel entrance, and it's only a few stops past the train station. Very convenient! I've included photos with bus stop and schedule information for reference. If I ever have the chance to visit Montreux again later in life, I will definitely stay at this hotel.

The best hotel in Lausanne, full of history, several restaurants are excellent, and the lake view room has an unbeatable view. I especially recommend the hotel breakfast, which is healthy and delicious. They prepare a variety of delicacies for guests with special care, and it is open until 11 o'clock, so you can slowly enjoy breakfast and beautiful scenery.

Great location with a bus stop just a minute’s walk away, which makes getting around very convenient. You can tell the hotel is a bit old, but it’s still well maintained. The staff were very nice and friendly, which made the stay more pleasant. Overall, it’s a good place to stay, especially for the location and service.

My first impression was a stark contrast: the meticulously maintained decor, from the grand revolving door worthy of a palace, was at odds with the omnipresent strong air freshener scent, which seemed to be masking unpleasant odors…the hotel really needs a serious refresh. The air conditioning in our room, and clearly on our entire floor, was broken in the middle of August, so we ended up with just a fan! The bar was closed, which gave the place a gloomy feel. The staff were very kind and dedicated, but rather 'incomprehensible' when trying to communicate in French. A nice little bonus, despite the cramped room, was the provision of a reusable 'water bottle' that allowed us to enjoy unlimited excellent filtered water (still or sparkling) throughout our stay. Overall, we were disappointed, but with some renovations and considering its exceptional location near the maritime port and the Mucem, I would still consider returning. The room was too expensive given the service and the outdated condition of the premises.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service provided by staff member Monsieur Bryan. On 16th March 2025, Sunday @10am, after checking out of the hotel and preparing to continue my journey, I encountered an unexpected issue—a completely deflated front tire on my rental car. Monsieur Bryan went above and beyond his duties to assist me. He patiently helped troubleshoot the issue, contacted the vehicle recovery service, and communicated fluently in French to ensure the recovery team received all the necessary details. Thanks to his prompt and professional assistance, my car was back on the road within an hour. I am truly grateful for Monsieur Bryan’s dedication, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile. His outstanding service made a stressful situation much more manageable. The hotel is ideally located right in the city center! It's close to shops and attractions. The staff are friendly, it's clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning in the room worked perfectly, which was crucial given it was +34 outside. The breakfasts are delicious. I definitely recommend this hotel!

Honestly, one of the best hostel with the best facilities/equipments for basic travelling needs. First, clean af. Second, the shower room is designed really well: well-lit, have separate and large shower/changing cubicles, and equipped with very effective hairdryers. Third, luggage storage is free, secure and convenient to use. Fourth, it has a good kitchen/common area. Fifth, the price includes free breakfast starting at 630am, enough early of a time. However, the kitchen is closed at 2300 and only reopens only at 0630; for those who needa leave the place early in the morning will have to negotiate earlier with them (to avoid possible unpleasant encounter). And if you can’t have breakfast during the assigned time, there’s no other alternative like simple packed breakfast possible—good thing tho, the free flow coffee starts at 3am. It’s a place I would think of staying, if I happened to visit this area again.

With the Montreux Riviera Card provided to hotel guests, public transportation between Montreux and Vevey was free, which was very convenient. The hotel staff member, Frédéric, gave me a very warm welcome and kindly accommodated my request for an early check-in, which I had arranged by phone in advance. When I unfortunately sprained my ankle, he even lent me crutches and provided information about a nearby hospital, which was extremely helpful and much appreciated. The room was spotless and well-maintained, and although compact, it was very comfortable. Breakfast was delightful, with delicious croissants, seasonal fruits, ham and cheese, yogurt, and a selection of drinks. I was very satisfied. I would definitely love to stay here again when I return for the Montreux Jazz Festival.”

I booked a room at the Hotel-Restaurant la Croix D'or only because it was a convenient place to stay between two day's walking on long-distance hiking trails. I had no particular expectations and was delighted by the good communication during my walk and warm welcome when I arrived in a rain storm, soaking wet from head to toe. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, the room was very comfortable with excellent facilities, and I had not realised that there is also an award-winning restaurant, where I had an excellent dinner, with local produce and wine. I wish that I'd been able to stay longer and hope to return. There is a great view of the Dent de Vaulion from the hotel, and the view from the top of the Dent back towards Ballaigues later on in the day shows the hotel's lovely location.
