After a strenuous ****** Valley Trail walk on Mt. Cook, a good choice for a break before heading to Queenstown on the next day. The room layout is good and the kitchen facilities are adequate. No handheld shower in the bathroom is the only drawback.
The room was white, clean and hygienic. He was the best and most enthusiastic boss during our trip. He took the initiative to ask us if we wanted a rice cooker. We were going to buy onions and he went to the yard to pick them for us. The best thing is that he was about 10 minutes away from the hotel. The beach 10 minutes away is particularly beautiful and we saw the most beautiful sunset
Ideal location if you want to avoid town and stay near the beach. I enjoyed evening walk from hotel to Saint Kilda beach. It was less than 5 km for return trip.
We drove ourselves, and the transportation was very convenient. It is a must-go place on the eastern coastal route from Christchurch to Queenstown.
Lived here for 3 days, life is very convenient. There is a big supermarket Woolworth, Chinese and Western restaurants, pharmacies, etc. along the main road outside the door. You can see them by walking without driving.
It is convenient to visit because it is on SH1 (East Coast Main Road). A little south is the city center, where the old Victorian district and local blue penguins are located (within walking distance from the hotel). 200 meters to the east is the sea. Going north along the Waitaki River and heading west, you can reach Duntroon (recommended, only 30KM away from the hotel, with nice trail scenery), Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, Wanaka, and Mount Cook.
The hotel is quiet, soundproof and comfortable to sleep.
The hotel is on the side of the road, the hotel's glass door is very soundproof and not noisy at all. There are kitchenware, tableware, stove, microwave oven, toaster, refrigerator, very suitable for cooking by yourself.
Although this hotel is a bit old, I like the natural and simple taste very much. The room is big enough and it's only a five-minute walk from the university. It's so convenient! Parking at the door is also very convenient.
The location is OK. It only takes 8 minutes to drive to the place where you can watch the blue penguins returning to their nests at night. There are also many choices of places to eat around. The room is very clean and it is quite quiet at night. The only thing I am not satisfied with is the attitude of the motel owner. When we checked out and were about to drive away, he caught up with us and asked why we had an extra bed. I explained to him that the bed that the child chose at the beginning was not comfortable for him to sleep in, so he changed it. He used this as an excuse to charge us an additional cleaning fee of 25 New Zealand dollars, saying that it increased his workload. If we were not in a hurry, I would really argue with him. There was only 15 New Zealand dollars in change in my bag, and he said 15 was fine. It was obvious that he was extorting money. The quality is really poor.
Fantastic stay. Friendly and very helpful reception. The accommodation was clean and neat. Close to Botanic Garden and University of Otago. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again when returning to Dunedin.
We've been touring around the lower South Island for a little over 2 weeks, staying at motels for generally about 2 nights at a time. The Sierra Motel ranks as one of the nicest we have seen in the whole trip. The exterior looks dated but the interior is fabulous - large, clean, comfortable, and modern. There is a large TV (with basic Sky - would like to access Netflix), king bed, two lounge chairs and a good work/dining space as well as a large shower with two shower heads, and a large outdoor area with an exterior table and 2 chairs. We enjoyed a G&T outside our unit in the fading afternoon sun - very pleasant. Booking through Trip.com also gave us a very competitive price and 25% better that anything the motel would offer, so we were very happy indeed.

It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the town center. It’s convenient to have breakfast at McDonald’s next door. It’s 30 minutes walk to see Blue Penguin. About minutes.

GGuest UserWith an internal small garden and close access to laundry facilities, people can get good rest inside the hotel and have a good chance to clean clothes accumulate along the journey.
The construction within the premises does not affect too much as it turns quiet after 4:30pm.
The bathroom is spacious and with two windows. It makes me feel comfortable with its space ,air ventilation and brightness.
Our rental car can be parked in front of the room where is located at ground floor. It is convenient.
GGuest UserKitchen supplies could be improved, because there was no dishwasher and no range hood installed for ventilation, plus there was a scary sign ordering travelers not to cook fragrant food. Travelers arrive from all over the world with different food habits, so not sure what's considered unacceptable to cook. The electric cooking stove was old and kind of broken. The windows have no screens so it was difficult to leave them open without insects crawling in and we got multiple mosquito bites. Room on the small side for families as there was no separation. We appreciated the free washing machine and dryer, and detergent cost NZ$2.
1123-travellerThe Heritage Court Motor Lodge is in the centre of Oamaru. Its boss is a Chinese. Room and equipments are quite good and with breakfast. But sad, the light in my restroom works out.
AAnnikaThere is no air con at all and the reception is only willing to provide one fan (our room has two beds placed in separate rooms). We tried opening the windows but a lot of mosquitoes and various bugs flew in, and you can kind of see the remnants of squashed bugs on the ceilings and walls. We had to sleep with the windows closed which made it quite hot as we went in the summer.
Despite this we do have good things to say about the room. The location is very convenient and close to the town centre, the room is clean and there are sufficient amenities. Not a bad stay for its price.
GGUANGSONGGood location, ten minutes walk to the city center, double bed for two people can be a bit small with children, parking lot, no breakfast, but electric stove, microwave, all utensils, four minutes walk from the bus station
GGuest UserHotel is located on a very busy road off Queenstown and towards Frankton. The construction outside also does not help in getting in and out of the place. Rooms are cozy with kitchen and there is a paid laundry available as well. lots of parking space. Avoid the corner rooms near the road which is always noisy. A long walk into town mostly downhill, but the walk back can be painful. Otherwise nothing much to write about as it what you can expect for the price paid.
DDingtoudingnaoThe roses in this hotel are of very good quality and are bigger than fists. The room is also quite spacious, you can cook your own food (cook instant noodles), it is clean and tidy. Parking is also very convenient.
