TownePlace Suites Lawrence Downtown

The location is excellent, downtown a block off of Mass street, so walking to everything is very easy. The hotel is a standard TownePlace, rooms are as expected. Breakfast is the standard freebie, nothing good or bad. Parking is nice, it is a parking garage, and in the winter this has a lot of value in the midwest!

Motel lobby and breakfast area both closed in February 2023 door signed “closed due to Covid”. Appears real reason is just to save upkeep cost. Cold breakfast consists of 2 bars a package of low cost muffins and a tangerine. Room had missing facial tissues, missing wash cloth, stained carpet, damaged window covering. Dogs allowed and I got to listen to a barking dog all evening. Needless to say I’m going to choose other lodging in this area in the future.

The Hotel Facility was fine maybe. A little above average. I like to walk to dinner after a day of travelling. Within five minutes walk I happened upon a non- script Mexican Restaurant! This family friendly diner welcomed me and provided me with the best Mexican dinner I have ever had (the pork was outstanding)! If you find yourself in Topeka book the SureStay by Best Western and buckle up for the best authentic Mexican food anywhere!!! Ranked #1 in Topeka it is honestly the best. Book the SureStay and get to Jorge’s Cantina before it gets discovered…

Everything was excellent. Staff, cleanliness, the room. I was surprised that there was a kitchenette with dishes. There was not a view of the river, but the nearby arena shot off fireworks and I could see those from the room! There's a coffeeshop across the parking lot, though it wasn't needed since there's coffee available in the lobby. The breakfast included hot food items and several toppings like nuts and berries for either oatmeal or yogurt. Parking was very easy. It has a pool right off the elevator. The alarm clock was easier to set than most. The mattress was very soft. I like the rug under the sofa, which I believe is intended for dogs and would be easily washable. The TV had free Showtime. I would stay there again.

My daughter was having her baby so my husband and I booked a room when we got there it was too early and we would have to wait til 3pm we were there at 11pm the hospital wouldn't let us stay because of covid so we had no choice but pay full price for the whole day for the 3 hrs stay til our reservations kicked in spite of our circumstances there was no room in their policy for compassion .to me that's important be treated as if my situation mattered my daughter had to have an emergency C section and my husband and I are on a fixed income so we had to leave her and the baby there and had no choice but go home 3 hours away it saddened me to leave my daughter but we couldn't offered to stay another night

Staff are friendly. No cleanliness issues. Smells clean, but not offensively so. Fitness room was standard but nice and clean. Breakfast was fine as well. Had hot food and not just cereal and toast. Shower had good water pressure. Indoor pool looked nice, but never visited it. It is an older building but maintained from what I could tell. The tile in the bathroom was cold but clean. My only complaint is that adjusting the thermostat didn't seem to make a difference as the room was very cold. I just shut it off so it wouldn't blow cold air into the room as I was barely in the room except sleeping and getting ready for a workshop. I plan to stay here in the future if I'm ever in the area.

We have stayed here several times, and always receive friendly service. The queen room was smaller than the rooms we’ve stayed in with a king or 2 queens, but we don’t need that much room. It took us a little while to figure out how to switch from air to heat. I like that they have bottles for hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The bar area is nice with happy hour specials. The chicken wings and cheese cake were good. When we left the parking garage & submitted our validated ticket, it was rejected, but this was quickly resolved.
