On the last night, more than ten people drank too much. The staff on the first floor of the hotel was not responsible. At 11 o'clock in the middle of the night, I lived in the middle of the second floor. I was very clear that I could hear the sound of their singing together and shouting together. I didn't sleep at night.
The location is just amazing! Just couple of minutes from Essen HBf. We moved to Essen with a lot of baggage and location was a such a relief after long trip. Also even though the station is so close you WONT HEAR A SOUND, even if rooms windows are facing it. The room was big and tidy with comfortable bed and great selection of teas.
Breakfast was tasty and filling, it was mostly cold cuts (very tasty!) and jogurts with toppings, but couple of hot dishes too. Veggies werent of the great quality, but anyway you can mix and match yourself a good meal.
In general it's a reaaly reaaly good place to rest.
The hotel is well-situated near the tube station, providing easy access to transportation and key city attractions. The reception staff were professional, accommodating, and responsive to requests, contributing to a smooth check-in/out experience.
However, there are several aspects that could be improved to enhance guest comfort. Despite booking a standard queen room, the bed was comprised of two single beds pushed together rather than a true queen-sized bed, which impacted the overall sleeping experience. Additionally, the room lacked essential amenities such as a kettle and sufficient storage space. The absence of a proper desk and chair made the room less convenient not only for business travellers but also for leisure guests who might want to sit comfortably with a laptop or unwind. Furthermore, the bathroom design was impractical, as the shower area was not properly separated from the toilet, leading to water spreading throughout the space.
While the hotel offers a convenient location and courteous service, enhancements in room design and amenities would significantly improve the overall guest experience.
The hotel is located in a leafy and relatively upscale area not too far off from the Stadtbahn station that takes you directly into Bonn and onwards into Cologne. It is set in a good bit of greenery and thus very sheltered from any traffic noise. The facilities are very modern and the breakfast excellent. We could certainly stay there again for a weekend trip.
Had a pleasant stay. We spend about a week. The room was clean and the toilet too. Even though the location is very near to the main train station, it was not noisy at all. A walking distance to halal food and supermarket. However, we tried to book the room cleaning services but no cleaning lady came to clean our room.
Good hygiene that was up to standards. There was a working airconditioning and a good blowdryer. The location was okay since it’s close to the places we wanted to visit, but if you want to go to Little Tokyo or Altstadt you have to pass the train station, which feels shady and unsafe at night. I also missed toothpaste and slippers in the room. Overall I had a nice experience!
The hotel is very good, quiet, and quiet. It's very convenient to stay quiet in the bustle. Germany is also very beautiful, and the country is beautiful, the city is beautiful, and the people are beautiful
The hotel is located directly on a busy street.
I had thought that we would be bothered by the street.
Well, I didn't hear anything. On the 5th floor it was so quiet. We could sleep wonderfully.
Tip. If you check in before 3 pm, you can choose your room.
With an additional charge, you could also look out into a garden.
However, you don't have to.
Furthermore, the room was clean and there was enough choice at breakfast.
I will definitely go back.
It's so strange place) Good location, good room, but uncomfortable atmosphere. When we lifted up to our floor, strange girl is laying on the hall sofa. Hotel was almost empty, but the cleaning personal knocked to our door in the morning at 9 am, and told that we need going out from the room, although check-out at 11 am. At night, the porter turned off the lights in the hotel lobby and left, but the doors were open and anyone from the street could enter the hotel. It's not safe.

Iichikokiku⭐ Hotel Review: Merian Hotel, Cologne
I stayed at Merian Hotel in Cologne, and I must say — the location and price were unbeatable!
📍 Perfect Location
The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from Cologne Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom). It’s incredibly convenient if you’re traveling by train or planning to explore the old town on foot. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and major attractions in under 10 minutes.
💰 Excellent Value for Money
For such a prime central location, the room rate was very affordable. It’s rare to find a hotel this close to the station and city center at such a low price. The room was basic but clean, and included breakfast, which made it an even better deal.
🛏️ Room Tips
Rooms facing the street or train station might get a bit noisy, so I recommend asking for a quiet room facing the courtyard if you’re a light sleeper.
GGuest UserThe hotel is about 10 minutes by taxi from the train station and more than 10 minutes from the exhibition. It is very convenient. The room is relatively large and has slippers. The morning is very good and there is salmon.
AAlexSecond time we went for this hotel in Brühl. Very convenient proximity to Phantasialand, clean room, and exceptional buffet breakfast. Best value for money ever, we will come back in this hotel again when we go to Phantasialand in the future.
KKatharine SusanIdeally situated for the UN campus. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice spa and pool. Room service and breakfast were fine and we enjoyed a glass of prosecco in the bar on the roof.
GGuest UserThe location is very good. 10 minutes walking to the cathedral. The rooms are nice and clean. Friendly staff and all speaking very good English. In general we had a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend it.
AAlexanderWhen I was checking in, I was a little worried the staff would be unable to speak English. However the two receptionists who helped me were perfectly fluent and answered any questions I had. I did unfortunately have to pay a city tax on top of my room, but it wasn’t expensive and this is a common thing in most hotels in Europe.
The room itself was pretty decent and had plenty of space for my suitcase and to walk around. The en-suite was great and had good towels and hot shower. The bed was comfy with a good mattress and duvet wise, but the pillows were a bit limp and didn’t have a lot in them. I spoke to another member of staff who spoke little English, who said he’d look and bring one to my room, but this never happened. Whatever the case, still had a good sleep, would have better with extra head comfort.
As for breakfast, there was a great variety of choice from fry-up food (bacon, sausages, eggs) to continental pastries and drinks. I would say the only downside was there was not enough for fruit, as there was only a few apples and plates of sliced oranges. Would have been better if there was more to choose fruit wise, but everything else was great and was a good fuel up for the day in Cologne.
When checking out, they also allowed me to place my luggage and bags in their storage room with zero charge which is great when you’re exploring for the day and have a later departure time.
Overall, if you’re in Cologne for a day (like me) or two, this place is a great option and I would stay here again!
GGuest UserGood location, relatively close to the train station. There are many Asian restaurants on the street about 500 meters away. The hotel sometimes has Chinese service. If you have any questions, please ask the front desk. Become a relatively cost-effective hotel.
GGuest UserThe hotel is a little outside, but a bus stop right in front of the hotel is available. The reception was not more occupied than we arrived, but check-in still worked super uncomplicated. The room was very spacious and everything needed was available. Have felt very well and liked to come back!
KKwanThe bedsheets provided all look clean but the bed frames are covered in dusty so don’t believe they clean the frames at all just change the sheets and covers. Toilet and shower rooms are separate which is great when you have to share. The shared rooms don’t have hair dryers only the female ones do. Walls aren’t that soundproof so you can hear the elevator opening and closing but nothing ear plugs can’t fix.
RRay75014I can only say that everything is average. The location is very close to the train station, about five minutes away. There is a tram downstairs, so it is quite noisy at night. There are not many varieties of breakfast, but the juice and coffee are great. The bathroom is very cramped. I can only say that it wins in terms of cost performance.
